Mazaa Ricchi

"Mother Rich" is a restaurant located a 3-minute walk from Asabu Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Namboku Line. It operates as a kakigori (shaved ice) specialty shop during the summer, and serves oden (Japanese stew) in the rest of the year.

The eat-in space includes table seating for 2 to 4 people and counter seats.

The kakigori (shaved ice) at this shop uses junpyo (pure ice), which is made over about 48 hours at a low temperature of -10°C.

Another key point is that they shave it while adjusting the thickness of the ice depending on where it will be placed in the assortment. It has a light texture and is said to melt smoothly in your mouth.

The syrup used for the kakigori (shaved ice) is made by blending different kinds of sugar, including kokuto (brown sugar) and tensaito (beet sugar), to create a deep sweetness.

The kakigori flavors focus mainly on fruit, and they also offer menu items made with sake kasu (sake lees), cheese, and nuts.

・Fresh golden kiwi & rare cheesecake
A perfect balance of fully ripened sweetness... yet not overly sweet... It was so good, almost as if fully ripe golden kiwi had been poured right over it♪ The cheese cream on top was also lightly sweet and salty, making a nice accent~.

Large pieces of melon are arranged all around it. It has quite a look, and it is bigger than I imagined. On top are prosciutto and finely chopped meron (melon). Then comes the soy milk espuma, mmm, delicious. Beautiful!

Tomato Rare Cheese Kakigori (shaved ice)
First, the tomatoes are super sweet! It seems like the tomato sauce is made by mixing tomatoes and sugar, but even the cut tomatoes themselves are incredibly sweet. They make it with really good tomatoes!

Kooridokoro Sayuri

Kooridokoro Sayuri is a reservation-only shop located a 3-minute walk from Susukino Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Namboku Line. Its kakigori (shaved ice) that makes the most of the quality of the ingredients is popular, and many repeat customers visit.

The interior is simple, with counter seating only. Many customers also seem to come alone and enjoy their time at a relaxed pace.

One of the appealing things about the kakigori (shaved ice) at this shop is the generous amount of fruit pulp and sauce. The ice is soft and does not melt easily even after some time.

・Honey Kiwi Rare Cheesecake
The kiwi was sweet and delicious. The rare cheesecake was also light, with a good balance of sweetness and tartness. I also had them add rare cheesecake whipped cream as a topping inside. On top of that, as a service, they put strawberries underneath instead of kiwi. It was delicious.

The fluffy shaved ice had syrup and ice cream packed all the way to the center, so I could enjoy it to the very last bite. It’s also really nice that you can have it as dessert after dinner. With a wide variety of options, including shaved ice and crepes, I think this is a great place for anyone looking for dessert.

The wall also explains how to eat it, saying it is best to scoop from the middle and eat while gently breaking it down from the outside in. I managed to eat it neatly without spilling. The ice has a nice texture on the tongue, and the strawberry syrup is both on top and inside, with an excellent balance with the condensed milk.
