歩くたべログ

Knowing this bar is run by a bartender who has been ranked No. 1 in Japan, expectations naturally run high. The bar has a calm atmosphere, and the kind expression of the master makes you smile too. I enjoyed a Margarita and a Yamazaki Highball. Everything was made with great care, and it all tasted really good, letting me savor each drink more slowly than usual and spend a wonderful time.

・Gibson
This is the cocktail I always order at a bar I’m visiting for the first time. As you would expect, they properly had pearl onions ready. The gin was Tanqueray, and of course they handled the shaker with real style. It had a classic taste that highlighted the sharp edge of the gin.

The spacious interior has table seating as well as counter seats, and it is said to have a pleasant level of liveliness without being too quiet.

They say one of the big draws is the extensive lineup of drinks, including cocktails, whisky, and old liqueurs.

The menu is very carefully put together with photos and descriptions, so even first timers can order without hesitation, which is a nice plus.

Some reviews also say the fruit cocktails are excellent. It seems the recommended menu changes each month, with items like melon and pineapple.

レッツゴーよっちゃん

Right from the entrance, you can feel the mature atmosphere of the place. They offer assorted varieties available of drinks, and it was a place where you could relax and enjoy them at a leisurely pace. I don’t really know what counts as the real thing, but the Blue Hawaii was delicious, the presentation was amazing, and it was just impressive. Also, although it’s not in the photos, the mojito is amazing too. It’s a place I’d like to visit again.

カナリーex

I used to shy away from drinking whiskey straight, but after getting some advice on how to drink it and finally trying it, I could taste the barrel notes and more compared with drinking it as a highball, and I was able to enjoy what you might call the whiskey’s natural flavor. Coming to this BAR led me to a great new discovery about whiskey, and it was a very good encounter.

男飯

Already slightly tipsy, and wanting to relax at the hot spring afterward as well, I had just one glass of Macallan 12 on the rocks. I spent a laid-back time nibbling on mixed nuts. Nina Simone played through the bar.

yassi648

It was quiet and had a nice atmosphere, and the master was easy to talk to, which made it feel very comfortable. The cocktail made with plenty of kabosu (Japanese citrus) extract was sweet and tangy, and I enjoyed it while getting a sense of Oita.

This very approachable place is located in a shopping street and is easy to spot from outside. The music is fairly loud, giving it a casual feel. I started with a Beefeater gin and tonic. The master here has a huge love for Beppu and Oita, and told us a lot about Beppu’s history and good local food.
