Recommended okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancakes) in Fukuoka Prefecture [Fukuoka City Area]
Denko Sekka Kyanaru Shiti Hakata Ten is a place where you can enjoy the flavors of Hiroshima in Fukuoka.
At the counter seats inside, you can watch the dynamic Teppan-yaki cooking up close, just like the restaurant’s name suggests. If you want to take your time, the Sunken kotatsu seating is recommended, where you can relax and enjoy your meal in comfort.

Many people seem to visit for the striking dome shaped okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake).
The Most Popular "Denkosekka" is a unique okonomiyaki that is steamed without pressing it down, then wrapped in fluffy egg around the batter. The aroma of chopped oba (perilla leaves) is said to add a nice accent.

The popular “nikutama-yaki (Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki with meat and egg)” among people from Hiroshima is a simple type topped only with green onions.
They use the famous “Otafuku Sauce” for okonomiyaki, and its comforting flavor that tastes the same whenever you eat it is said to be the secret of its popularity.

The Denkosekka I visited this time was just incredibly good! I ordered okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake), and I was very Manzoku with both the taste and quality. It looked gorgeous too, and I got excited before even taking a bite. The atmosphere inside was nice, and the staff were kind. If I come to Canal again, I definitely want to come back to this restaurant!

In classic Hiroshima-fu (Hiroshima style), the noodles and ingredients are layered well, and it has good volume, so even one serving feels very satisfying. They offer many different kinds, and part of the appeal is the fun of choosing from standard options to more unusual ones. Most importantly, the okonomiyaki (savory pancake) itself is high quality, with a well balanced sauce and consistently good cooking.

This is the “mix-yaki,” which comes with meat, shrimp, squid, and egg.
The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) is cooked through, cut into easy-to-eat pieces, and served with sauce and aonori (green laver) on top. They also let you take home anything you can’t finish.

It was my first time trying fried rice, and the rice was light and separate, and it was very tasty. I had okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) for the first time in a while, and it was as good as I remembered. It was filling, and I ended up completely full. I do not think it came with mayonnaise the last time I had it, but the sauce had the same good taste as before.

・Mixed yaki
This piping hot okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), topped with a rich, thick sauce, plus mayonnaise, is every bit as good as you would expect from Fukuoka’s soul food and B-grade gourmet fare! The mayonnaise is provided at the table. The sauce is not on the table, so if you ask, they can bring you some on a separate plate.

The signature “kone-yaki (griddled brisket cut)” is a meat-and-egg okonomiyaki filled with cheese and mochi (rice cake), loved for its rich taste and hearty volume.
Served piping hot, it layers Hiroshima-style sweet-savory sauce with soft melted mochi and the mild richness of cheese for a full, rich flavor.

The uniquely named “Mekishiko kara Kita Sarada (Salad from Mexico)” is a dish served with crispy grilled gyoza wrappers arranged taco-style.
Made with fresh vegetables such as tomatoes and leaf lettuce tossed in a spicy sauce, this salad is perfect as a palate cleanser between bites of rich okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake).

They do not use Special ingredients or Special cooking methods, but this is a solid place where whatever you order tastes good thanks to Teppan-yaki cooking that gets the basics right. The service is pleasant too, making it a place you will want to visit regularly. The vegetables are good as well, but I think this place is especially perfect for meat lovers.

A recommended item is the hiroshima okonomiyaki (Hiroshima-style savory pancake), made with noodles from Isono Seimen Co., Ltd. in Hiroshima to recreate the authentic local taste. The noodles are crisp and fragrant, and each serving is well balanced with pork, egg, and vegetables.
You can choose either udon (thick wheat noodles) or soba (buckwheat noodles), and a no-noodle option is also available.

This is a popular restaurant, so I recommend making a reservation before you go! Every item on the menu is really good, and along with okonomiyaki (savory pancake), they also have a great selection of Teppan-yaki dishes. The "kone-yaki (grilled beef hump meat)" and "kaki butter (oysters with butter)" are also excellent. When I was a child, I remember there being 2 restaurants in the station building. The interior, renovated from a traditional old house, has a stylish, cafe-like atmosphere. The counter seats are appealing for the lively experience of enjoying the sounds and aromas of the food cooking right in front of you. If you want to relax and take your time, the table seats are recommended.

You can enjoy dishes made with ingredients shipped directly from Hiroshima and Special meats and vegetables from Kyushu.
The signature Hiroshima-fu okonomiyaki (Hiroshima-style savory pancake) is an authentic version where the sweetness of the cabbage pairs well with the fragrant sauce. There is also a wide variety of options, including niku-tama soba or udon, and seafood varieties.

Kokura locals' soul food, yaki udon (fried udon), comes in two varieties: soy sauce and miso.
When the chewy thin noodles and vegetables are stir-fried on a Teppan-yaki grill, the flavor of the ingredients becomes more concentrated and the savory aroma stands out. It has just the right portion size and is very satisfying to eat.

A colleague recommended this place, so I visited shortly after it opened after work. The owner, who is from near the Hiroshima Mazda Fuchu Plant, was very friendly, and I really enjoyed the meal. They have a great selection of Teppan-yaki dishes such as pork kimchi, grilled chicken liver and sunazuri (gizzard), and Hiroshima negi-yaki (savory pancake with green onions). It was a great meal.

Isono Seimen is as good as ever. The noodles have nice bite and a firm, springy texture that is hard to resist! The okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) has light, fluffy cabbage with a nice sweetness. This might be the first time I have had cabbage this sweet? The ingredients matter, of course, but I think their cooking technique is what really makes it stand out.

This is their specialty, Hiroshima-yaki (Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki), with surume (dried squid) added for an extra charge.
The okonomiyaki, topped with a mountain of green onions, is cooked by layering the ingredients, so it stays light and airy while still being very filling! You can also enjoy changing up the flavor with both sweet and spicy sauces.

The “Motsu-yaki Udon set meal” is a popular lunch menu item.
The house-made sweet and savory sauce coats the Domestic Horumon and the chewy noodles really well, making it addictively good. It also comes with plenty of cabbage and bean sprouts, making for a highly satisfying dish.

I used to think having rice with okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) made no sense, but once I tried it, it was surprisingly good. Or rather, I feel like the seasoning on the okonomiyaki here goes really well with rice. And it was amazingly tasty okonomiyaki. For the okonomiyaki, you can choose from ika-tama (squid and egg), buta-tama (pork and egg), and wiener-tama (sausage and egg), and the sauce came in sweet and spicy versions!

Besides okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake), this restaurant also serves items like Teppan-yaki, and the lunch menu was affordable, filling, and very good. The recommended dish is oba cheese (shiso leaf and cheese), which is light and easy to eat.
