The lamb here is really good, with sweet and tasty lamb fat! As someone from Hokkaido, I often have chances to eat lamb shabu-shabu, but this was amazingly good. And I was also happy that I could enjoy plenty of vegetables and mushrooms along with the meat✨

Dosan Hitsujiniku Kappo Ramu Pirika

Dosan Youniku Kappo Ramu Pirika, about a 12-minute walk from Odori Station, is a popular restaurant where you can enjoy tasty shabu-shabu made with Special Hokkaido lamb.

Because each person gets their own Hot Pot, guests can enjoy shabu-shabu at their own pace, which is also well liked.

What you can enjoy at this restaurant is lamb shabu-shabu, a style of hotpot widely loved in Hokkaido. The lamb is sourced from Hokkaido and delivered directly from contracted farmers.

The lamb has no strong distinctive flavor, and it pairs perfectly with the restaurant's original soy sauce tare (dipping sauce), which took 5 years to develop.

There are also many lamb à la carte dishes, including steak, meat sushi, and Tenderloin cutlet.

The photo shows the “Hokkaido-san (from Hokkaido) lamb round straw-seared.” The tangy ponzu sauce jelly and yuzu kosho (yuzu pepper paste) add a nice accent and make it easy to enjoy.

It was my first time trying lamb shabu-shabu, but it was so good that I liked lamb shabu-shabu even more than jingisukan (grilled mutton). To finish, the ramen was also delicious! The dessert was so satisfying that I felt like I did not even need to go out for a night parfait after this.

They sliced the ramu-shabu (lamb shabu-shabu) I ordered right there and served it fresh. Just a quick swish in the pot gave it the perfect tenderness! It wasn’t greasy at all, yet it seemed to melt in my mouth, and it was really delicious️(。・・。)♡The service was also very polite, and they explained each item on the menu one by one.

It is also nice that the staff serve it for you. They keep the heat gentle the whole time and never let it come to a boil. The meat is good, of course, but the vegetables stand out even more. That is probably because the dashi (Japanese soup stock) is so good. Since they do not do anything extra to it, the flavors come through clearly.

Ushi no Ishizaki

Ushi no Ishizaki, about a 6-minute walk from Odori Station, is a long-established shabu-shabu restaurant founded in 1972. It is popular for its shabu-shabu made with Ezo Tajima-gyu (Ezo Tajima beef), a well-marbled frosted beef with fine marbling.

Today I had shabu-shabu (Japanese hot pot). The meat was just really good. It had just the right amount of marbling, and I could really taste the meat’s natural flavor. On top of that, it stayed tasty all the way to the end without getting tiring, which probably shows how good the meat itself is. I was completely Manzoku.

The thinly sliced gyutan (beef tongue) turns tender with just a quick dip, and its rich flavor really comes through. It is not just unusual, it also works well as a dish and tastes honestly great. The gyu-tataki (lightly seared beef) has a good kick of yama-wasabi (Japanese horseradish), which adds just the right accent of aroma and heat.

It had been a while since I last had sukiyaki (Japanese hot pot), so it tasted great. There are quite a few reviews saying the service is bad, but that wasn’t the case at all. As soon as the meat started running out, the staff came over to ask and brought more right away. For A5 meat All you can eat, the pace was so fast it was hard to believe, and I never needed to call the staff, so the service was really good. The slices of meat were large, and of course the taste was great too!

There were so many tempting ingredients that it was hard to choose, so I went with the signature JPY10,000 course. Luckily, it offers very good value for money. This time, I chose shabu-shabu. The Wagyu served with vegetables was high quality all around, with the lean meat tasting light and the Chuck Eye Roll standing out for its nicely sweet fat. The interior was calm, and since I visited on a weekday, I was able to relax and take my time. I ordered kurokegyu (Japanese Black Wagyu). It had a lot of marbling, but since it was thinly sliced, it did not feel too rich, and I enjoyed it.

Hokkaido Shabu-shabu Ezo Kamuy

"Hokkaido Shabushabu Ezo Kamui" is a shabushabu restaurant located an 11-minute walk from Odori Station. The interior has only counter seats and one table, giving it a homey atmosphere.

In addition to beer, whisky, and Japanese sake, they also offer a wide range of drinks including awamori (Okinawan distilled spirit).

The Ezo venison (Hokkaido deer) shabu-shabu is the restaurant’s signature dish. It comes with two different cuts: belly and thigh.

Both are light yet full of flavor. They serve it with carefully chosen dipping sauces, including the original “Ezokamui Special Sauce.”

In addition to Ezojika (venison), you can also enjoy meats such as Hokkaido pork belly and lamb shoulder. The carefully made broth using chicken stock is said to pair perfectly with every kind of meat.

There was also a review saying that the finishing ramen had an amazing clean aftertaste.

This restaurant serves venison shabu-shabu. The Hot Pot is served individually, so you can eat at your own pace, whether you are dining solo or with a group, without any worries! To finish, the ramen is also great. In addition to venison, they also offer pork and lamb.

Shabu-Shabu Onyasai Susukino Minami 4-jo Ten

Shabu Shabu Onyasai Susukino Minami 4-jo Ten is a shabu-shabu restaurant chain with locations across Japan, and it is located an 8-minute walk from Odori Station.

The interior has a Japanese modern design and includes table seating and Sunken kotatsu seating. It is a good choice when you want to enjoy a relaxed meal.

What you can enjoy in the shabu-shabu are brand meats such as Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu), Iberico pork, and Sakura-hime-dori (Sakura Princess chicken), along with Domestic vegetables.

The meat is carefully cut in house, so it is said to have a very smooth texture on the tongue. You can choose from an All you can eat course or a fixed portion set.

It’s nice that for the shabu-shabu broth, you can choose not only the standard kombu kelp broth, but also soy milk or a mildly spicy one.

The finishing menu also offers a wide lineup, with not just rice and noodles but even cheese risotto and tamago kake gohan (rice topped with raw egg).

北海道ヒグ

We ordered sukiyaki and shabu-shabu. The shabu-shabu also had the kind of quality you would not expect from All you can eat, including the beef, and we were very satisfied.

家男

The guzaisan na hinabe (ingredient-packed Chinese Hot Pot) was full of tasty vegetables and mushrooms. It also comes with rice, and if you pay extra, you can choose the meat in Large size or extra-large portions, so the volume is very satisfying. I started eating with full determination, but it was not so spicy that I was gasping. The broth had a rich, solid flavor, and the heat was easy to enjoy.
