Tokyo Niku Shabuya

At Tokyo Niku Shabuya, you can enjoy a course meal featuring shabu-shabu made with the rare Tajimaguro (premium Tajima beef). It is located along Tokyo Metropolitan Route 302, an 8-minute walk from JR Shin-Okubo Station.

The calm interior is said to be a small and cozy space with only 12 L-shaped counter seats.

Tajimaguro (a type of Kobe beef) is a kind of Kobe beef, but its feed and raising methods differ from the usual approach. It is known for the quality of its fat and the deep flavor of its lean meat, with a rich taste and lots of umami.

You can enjoy a variety of cuts such as Strip loin, Spencer roll, and Top sirloin.

They use kombu kelp dashi made by cold steeping Special kombu kelp for 18 hours in natural water from Shirakami Sanchi (Shirakami Mountains), a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. It makes for delicious shabu-shabu, bringing out the full umami of the meat.

They offer several courses for both lunch and dinner.

To be honest, at first I was like, it’s just shabu-shabu (Japanese hotpot), right? But when I tried it, I was Surprised! It was so good it moved me. I’d often heard that when you eat something really delicious, you lose your words, and for the first time in a while, I just kept quietly eating. Haha. The drinks were exciting too, with lots of limited editions and rare finds.

台風猫

This was a meat course starting from the Appetizers, featuring Special Tajimaguro (Kobe beef), and maybe because the meat quality was so good, I enjoyed each dish one after another. What stood out most to me were the cutlet and shabu-shabu, and I liked them so much I almost wanted to order extra servings of those.

Wadokoro Hide

Wadokoro Shu is located on the first floor of a building tucked away on a back street, about a 15-minute walk from JR Shin-Okubo Station. This popular restaurant is known for its kiji no shabu-shabu (pheasant hotpot), made with pheasant sourced through its own unique channels.

The interior has a calm Japanese-modern feel, with counter seats and Private room with Sunken kotatsu seating. It is best to book early.

They use kiji (pheasant) raised in a rich natural environment. It is low in fat, high in protein, and low in calories, with rich flavor and a smooth mouthfeel.

When swished through the broth, it becomes pleasantly springy, and its slight sweetness comes through, making it very tasty.

A la carte orders are also available, but the good-value kiji-shabu-shabu (pheasant shabu-shabu) course, which also includes side dishes, seems to be popular. It lets you enjoy two different cuts.

The photo shows zosui (rice porridge) that you can enjoy To finish. It is made by adding rice to a broth packed with the good flavor of kiji.

I had kiji-shabu (pheasant hotpot) for the first time in my life. This time, I got to enjoy a full course meal. Every dish tasted great, of course, but what made it especially wonderful was how nice each one looked, making the meal enjoyable to the eye as well. Best of all, the pheasant was easy to eat and absolutely delicious.

The kiji (pheasant) shabu-shabu was amazing. I’ve found another place I want to go back to. The owner was also very calm and kind, which made it even better. Not just the kiji, but every other item on the menu was delicious too, and I was very Manzoku. I’ll definitely be back again.

悪魔の抱擁

And lastly, kurobuta (Berkshire pork) shabu-shabu. It has nothing to do with the fish tank, but this was the best thing I had that day. The quality of the meat was great, it wasn’t heavy, and it was an excellent way to finish the meal. Honestly, it was so well done that I found myself thinking, “Was this place actually a shabu-shabu restaurant?”

A place where you can enjoy your meal while watching fish swim, and still have a relaxed conversation. Is the shabu-shabu like paitan-fu (white broth style)? This is delicious!! The dipping sauces are wasabi and the regular one, and they are great too!! You can really enjoy the lettuce and kikurage (wood ear mushrooms).

As soon as I stepped inside, I found a calm, moist atmosphere with water flowing through the space. It made me forget I was in Kabukicho (a nightlife district). I had the lunch course. The meat for the shabu-shabu (Japanese hotpot) was tender and very delicious. It was Manzoku.

四郎鶴田

The dishes served in the sukiya-zukuri (traditional Japanese architectural style) Private room are all beautifully plated, and each one shows careful work that feels like a series of delicate touches from a skilled chef. The signature shabu-shabu stands out in particular, with a clearly higher grade of meat. It lets the excess fat melt away so you can enjoy the pure umami of the ingredients straight on.

The staff carefully explained everything to us, and then we started the shabu-shabu (Japanese hotpot). First, we let the vegetables simmer away, and since all the meat was thinly sliced, we enjoyed it little by little in order. The Wagyu was great. I also appreciated how they added hot water along the way and kept an eye on the heat for us (maybe because I was a first timer).

For the shabu-shabu, first add the vegetables and let them simmer, then swish the beef in the pot. It tastes really good with the two kinds of sauce. As expected of shabu-shabu (Japanese hotpot). The beer goes down easy. They finish by adding udon (thick wheat noodles).
