"Yakiniku Kotetsu" is a popular Yakiniku restaurant a 5-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station, and it stays full all the time, so reservations are recommended. It has the feel of an old school diner, making it a comfortable place where you can enjoy a lively time.
The tabletop roasters use gas heat for even cooking. They are said to be perfect for the thick cut meat.
Photograph:美食のひととき
Based on the belief that freshly cut meat tastes best, they cut it only after an order comes in and massage the sauce into it.
The "Atsu-tan" is said to be cut extra thick and packed with flavor. The staff cook it to just the right doneness, so even Yakiniku first-timers can feel at ease.
Photograph:yskuno
Another feature is that they serve not only beef but also jingisukan (grilled lamb). It comes in thick cuts like steak and is grilled in a bold way.
It seems to have almost no off notes, with a sweet flavor that stands out. It is marinated in a special sauce, and each bite is said to be full of flavor.
旨味タロウ
The signature negi-tan (beef tongue with green onions) is thick cut and satisfying, with great green onion flavor and juicy tongue. The Omasum sashimi is also very fresh, with no off notes, and tastes great. The jingisukan (grilled mutton) and kotehoru (fatty horumon) have a nicely spicy sauce that goes great with drinks. Including the smoke, this is an irresistible place for anyone who wants to enjoy “this is what Yakiniku is all about.”

Atsutan (thick cut beef tongue) in particular was extra thick, yet tender enough to bite through easily. Its rich flavor filled my mouth, and it tasted unbelievably good. Also, a Horumon dish called gatsu-shin (center part of the pork stomach) was so good I’d definitely order it again. The balance of crunchy cartilage-like texture and meaty texture was perfect, and it was almost too good as a snack with drinks. The salted sauce was also amazingly good.

Kobe Yakiniku Kanteki Sangenjaya Honten is a Yakiniku restaurant that carries on the lineage of the famous Hyogo-born restaurant Kobe Yakiniku Kanteki. In Sangenjaya, it serves Kansai brand beef such as Tajima-gyu (Tajima beef) and Kobe-gyu (Kobe beef).
It is popular for letting guests enjoy high-end branded meat in a casual atmosphere that makes it easy to stop by.
Photograph:昼メシ部長
They specially select only female Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu) cattle and ship them directly from the market. Among them, Tajima gyu (Tajima beef) is one of the highest grade meats in Japan.
It stands out for its low melting point and the great balance of sweet, melt-in-your-mouth fat and lean meat. This is the "kanteki assortment," which focuses on rare cuts.
Photograph:あさしょ
Because they source whole animals, the Horumon is extremely fresh too. The liver has sharp Kaku, and its freshness is clear at a glance.
Cut thick, it lets you directly enjoy the ingredient’s rich flavor and texture. It is said to have no off notes at all, with a clean and tasty flavor.

Everything was reliably good, and the Beef Tongue in particular also comes in a thick cut option, but I prefer the thin cut, so I went with that! The texture and flavor you only get from the thin cut were excellent. The liver was also fresh with no off notes, and very easy to eat.

The popular menu items are beef liver and thick cut jo-tan shio (premium salted beef tongue). The well marbled meat was rich, and its melt in your mouth texture was outstanding. The jo-tan shio in particular was thick yet tender, and the more you chewed, the more flavor spread out.

They source fresh Horumon that has never been frozen every day. They thoroughly remove any off notes and prepare each cut in the best way for that part, resulting in outstanding freshness and flavor.
The photo shows the "Mixed Horumon Platter." Coated in miso tare (miso-based sauce), it is said to be delicious with a nice savory finish from the grill.
The menu item that gets a lot of praise is the "Outside skirt." It has a rich meaty flavor, and is said to taste great even with just salt.
People also love its just-right bite, with juices that seem to spill out the more you chew. It is popular as the perfect plate to slip in midway through a Horumon meal.
We started with Beef Tongue, and it was thick with an amazing texture! The more you chew, the more flavor spreads, so it gets you excited right from the start♪ The premium kalbi had just the right sweetness from the fat, and the key is not to overcook it. The Special nama rosu (fresh loin) was tender, and simply grilling it was enough to make it really tasty! The Outside skirt also had a rich lean meat flavor, and I couldn't stop eating rice...

The mixed Horumon could easily be called the signature menu item. If you are not sure which Horumon to order, start with this! The portion is generous too, which is always nice. If you order it with salt, you get a special vinegar sauce, and it is insanely good!! It goes so well with the meat that I ended up eating everything with this sauce all day ☺️

Akagyu Tare Yakiniku Marufuku is a Yakiniku specialty restaurant located a 5-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station, facing Taishido Chuo-gai. It is popular for serving top-quality Yakiniku centered on akagyu (red brown wagyu), a branded beef from Kumamoto Prefecture.
The interior has a chic monochrome look. People also like that it feels very clean.
Photograph:Yuta_0911
Akaushi (Japanese brown beef) raised in the rich natural surroundings of Kumamoto Prefecture has a meaty texture with lots of lean meat and light, clean fat.
The meat is marinated in a secret house-made sauce, grilled over charcoal, and eaten dipped in a sauce. The photo shows the "Tare Hitosuji Mori," which includes all 6 varieties.
Photograph:かりずまてぃっく
The "Marufuku assortment" includes 8 kinds in total. This is a plate arranged with only rare cuts of akaushi (Japanese Brown beef). Each one has a rich lean meat flavor, and the sauce soaks in nicely, making it a great match for rice.
Depending on the cut, the amount of marbling and fat varies, and being able to compare them side by side is one reason for its popularity.
ひとり飲み日和
They use a sauce said to have been passed down from the popular Yakiniku restaurant Maruhan, and the akaushi (Japanese brown beef) served with it is just fantastic. The sauce is on the sweeter side, but it has real depth, and it goes perfectly with the akaushi, whose rich flavor spreads more and more as you chew. And then digging into some top quality rice with it is just the absolute best..

Especially popular are the "Marufuku Mori," where you can enjoy rare cuts, and the melt-in-your-mouth "yaki-suki." "Sumibiyakiniku Nikujin Sancha Ten" is a Yakiniku restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station, in an area closer to the residential neighborhood. It has a retro interior with the warmth of wood, and a lively atmosphere that feels just like a classic charcoal grilled Yakiniku spot.
This restaurant is popular for its fresh Horumon, shipped directly from the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market Meat Market, one of Tokyo's leading markets.
Photograph:ゆきうさぎ0320
The fresh Horumon delivered directly without freezing is prepared to remove off notes and keep it tender. It is carefully prepped, which gives it an outstanding texture.
Grilling it over charcoal adds a nice toasted aroma and extra flavor, making it addictively good.
Photograph:Gurumemo
The "Premium Beef Tongue" uses only the rare part of the tongue known as tanmoto (the base of the tongue). It is tender and packed with deep umami, and they say you can really taste the high quality.
Though thick cut, it is still tender, and the aroma of charcoal is said to be a perfect match for its rich flavor.
The thick cut kalbi and Outside skirt are nicely browned on the outside, juicy inside, and full of rich meat flavor. The Horumon and seasonal vegetable skewers are also delicious, and the sauce and salt seasoning are just right. The staff are polite and make the place feel comfortable, so you can take your time, enjoy the conversation, and savor Yakiniku. This is a highly satisfying spot that meat lovers will find hard to resist.

The Special tongue selection is known for its wide variety and great taste. The signature "shio-tan (salted beef tongue) & tan-mori (beef tongue assortment)" is served with a heap of green onions.
It is said to be thick yet tender, with an outstanding bite. The recommended way to enjoy it is to grill it medium rare and take a big bite together with the green onions.

My personal top pick was the truffle Strip loin sukiyaki. They lightly swish a large, beautifully marbled Strip loin in a perfectly balanced sweet-savory warishita (sukiyaki broth), then dip it in raw egg before eating, and it is absolutely amazing✨The truffle came through the nose in just the right way, and it was really good♪

A mountain of green onions and oba (perilla leaves) towers up like a forest, and the visual impact is simply stunning. Grill the thick cut salted tongue, wrap it generously with the special green onions, and take a bite, and the fresh acidity of the ponzu sauce mixes perfectly with the rich flavor of the meat. It was so good I just couldn’t stop eating!

Tare Yakiniku Kinikuya Sangenjaya Ten is a popular Yakiniku restaurant about a 1-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station, loved for its irresistibly good old fashioned atmosphere. It is located in the area known as Sankaku Chitai (Triangle District), where many deep local eateries gather.
Housed in a two-story Japanese home, it has a casual "taishu Yakiniku (casual neighborhood Yakiniku)" style that makes it easy to stop by.
They say the Yakiniku coated in a special sauce developed through many years of experience is delicious. The restaurant uses different sauces for each cut, and the Outside skirt is rubbed with a rich, stamina-boosting sauce.
They say it is a bold, strong sauce with a big hit of garlic, and the seasoning goes perfectly with white rice.

Many people also say the signature "maho no hiyashi nama piman (magic chilled fresh green peppers)" is a must. One of the standard ways to enjoy it here is to place the grilled meat on top of the ice-cold fresh green peppers and eat them together.
Instead of wrapping the meat in leafy vegetables, the unusual pairing here is to eat it with green peppers. It is popular because it offers a rare food experience.

"Garibata (garlic butter)" is one of the restaurant's popular series. It features an addictive garlic and butter seasoning, and it is also included in the All you can eat option.
"Garibata Kalbi (short rib)" is said to let the butter melt into the meat's fat, adding more richness and umami. Some say it is so good they could keep eating slice after slice.

The tongue stands out for the contrast in texture between the thick cut and thin cut, and when seasoned simply with salt, the meat's rich flavor really comes through. The lean meat is light yet grows deeper in flavor the more you chew, and it felt nice and healthy. The Outside skirt is juicy and tender, and it goes perfectly with the fragrant sauce.

With a wide variety of meats and side dishes, this is a great place to enjoy with family or friends. The Beef Tongue and kalbi (short rib) were excellent. You can also control how long the meat cooks yourself, so you can enjoy it just the way you like. The side dishes, including kimchi and rice, are also good, making for a well-balanced meal.

Their strength is that by buying in bulk through their own factory, they can keep the quality consistent. They offer a full range of All you can eat courses, and the standard "Anan Course" is popular.

One of the restaurant's three signature specialties, "Oropon Beef Tongue." This dish features thinly sliced Beef Tongue grilled until fragrant, then enjoyed with grated daikon radish and ponzu sauce.
The juicy flavor of the tongue and the fresh tang of the sauce come together for a light finish. It is said to be so tasty you could keep eating slice after slice.
The interior has a casual feel, so it is easy to drop in even late at night. The Outside skirt had a nice amount of fat and was satisfying. The jo-mino (premium Mountain chain tripe) had a firm texture, and the more I chewed, the more flavor came through. I ordered bibimbap instead of white rice, and the balance of ingredients was good, pairing well with the Yakiniku. Even after drinks, it did not feel too heavy, making this a great place to enjoy Yakiniku casually.

I like Outside skirt when it comes to Yakiniku. The Nakaochi kalbi had a nice amount of fat. The red meat mix is a great deal because you can try different cuts. I think it’s better value to add the All you can drink soft drink option!
