Sandaime Ikebukuro Jigemon Ton

Directly connected to JR Ikebukuro Station, Sandaime Ikebukuro Jigemon Ton on the 8th-floor restaurant level of the main Ikebukuro PARCO building serves shabu-shabu made with Hojuton pork from Nagasaki Prefecture.

The interior has a calm atmosphere with the warm feel of wood. It offers counter seats, table seating, and Private room.

The "Nagasaki Hojubuta (Nagasaki Hoju Pork) shabu-shabu" lets you enjoy loin and belly with plenty of green onions and mizuna (potherb mustard). Hojubuta is known for meat that is springy, juicy, and tender, with sweet fat.

You eat it after swishing it through a soup based on ago-dashi (flying fish stock) and Kyushu soy sauce. You can also order extra meat and vegetables.

For those who also want to enjoy a la carte dishes such as the specialty tempura, the "Shabu-shabu Course" is a perfect fit. It comes with All you can drink, which is great for those who enjoy alcohol.

The photo shows the "Ajitama Tendon (seasoned egg tempura Rice bowl)," recommended as a side when ordering shabu-shabu a la carte, and it is said to be a filling and highly satisfying dish topped with plenty of tempura, including a soft-boiled egg and extra-large shrimp.

maki_1119_tabenomi

The main dish, Nagasaki Hojubuta (Nagasaki Hojubuta pork) shabu-shabu, comes with two cuts, loin and belly, which is a nice touch. It has a plump, pleasantly chewy texture, and the fat is full of flavor. Wrapping it with vegetables adds the fresh notes of green onion and mizuna (Japanese mustard greens), making it even better. It was so good that we ordered extra Hojubuta.

This is the place in Ikebukuro PARCO where you can enjoy juicy shabu-shabu! At first glance, it looks like a soba restaurant? A tempura Rice bowl restaurant? So it is easy to pass by, but you can get amazingly good buta-shabu (pork shabu-shabu)! The other dishes are also properly tasty in their own way. It is handy not just for drinks but also when you want a full meal, so I would like to come back again.

Tsukitei Ikebukuro Ten

Tsukitei Ikebukuro Ten is located along Romance-dori, a 5-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Ikebukuro Station. You can enjoy shabu-shabu made with Hida beef (premium wagyu from Gifu Prefecture).

The interior has a calm Japanese feel. On the second floor, there are table seats with a Semi-private room feel, and on the third floor, there are 17 fully private rooms built in sukiya-zukuri (traditional tea-house-style architecture).

They use A5 rank Hida-gyu (Hida beef) shipped directly from Gifu Prefecture. It is known for its fine marbling and rich flavor. The meat is said to be so tender it melts in your mouth, with sweet fat.

You add chopped vegetables to the Hot Pot, swish the meat through it, and eat it with wasabi sauce and house-made sesame sauce. It can be ordered either as part of a course or à la carte.

Lunch is also popular, with casual shabu-shabu (Japanese hotpot) you can enjoy with ease. They offer a wide range of good-value set meals that come with chopped vegetables, one free refill of rice, aka-dashi (red miso soup), and pickles.

The photo shows the "Buta Shabu-shabu Zen," which lets you enjoy the pork’s natural sweetness. The pork is said to pair perfectly with the chopped vegetables.

バクポン

Once you step inside, the stairs and hallways leading to the room have an atmosphere that feels like a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn). This time, we added shabu-shabu (Japanese hotpot) to the course meal. While enjoying the creative dishes, the house specialty shabu-shabu came in a big size and was very satisfying. It was a Manpuku course that also included ochazuke (rice with tea or broth) and soba (buckwheat noodles).

・Special beef shabu-shabu set meal
I wondered if 3 slices of meat would be enough, but it was surprisingly just the right amount and left me full! The meat had a nice amount of fat and tasted great♡ One refill of white rice is free, too. There is plenty of space between the seats, and they also have Private rooms, so it seems well suited for business meetings!

Senya

Senya serves lamb shabu-shabu. It stands along Tokiwa-dori, a 5-minute walk from Exit C1b of Ikebukuro Station on the Tokyo Metro.

Inside, the restaurant has a warm Japanese-modern space with wood as the main design element. It offers counter seats, table seats, and Private room.

They use rare Icelandic lamb, which makes up only 1% of domestic distribution. Each slice is cut paper-thin and served in a bold assortment with big visual impact.

The photo shows the "Lamb Shabu Course," eaten by dipping the lamb in a simple kombu kelp broth. It also includes à la carte dishes such as lamb skewers.

The photo shows the "Yakuzen Lamb Shabu Course," where you dip the lamb into two kinds of house-made yakuzen (medicinal herb) soup before eating. Both soups are said to have a deep, rich taste. Both lamb shabu courses require a reservation by the day before.

They also offer a wide range of other lamb dishes. All of them are said to be free of off notes and very tasty.

丸0502

The yakuzen shabu-shabu (medicinal herb hotpot) is great. It requires advance reservations, and I messed up and couldn’t have it the last time I visited, but this time I finally got to try it, and it was the best! We finished the first 400g in no time, then ordered more meat and vegetables. The kushiyaki (grilled skewers) lamb was also excellent. It was unbelievably tender. The Classic beer was absolutely delicious!

ニット帽のたかを

Dip the thinly sliced lamb into yakuzen (medicinal herb broth) or paitan (rich white broth), swish-shabu it for 3-5 seconds, and take a bite. Isn’t that the best.. It’s genius. The lamb sushi served first is honestly something I want everyone to try! The lamb skewer is also really tasty, with the spices coming through nicely.

Bettei Kotobuki

Bettei Kotobuki is a place where you can enjoy shabu-shabu with Yamagata beef and Okinawa-ken-san aguu buta (Okinawan Agu pork). The softly lit interior has a calm Japanese feel, with box seats, table seating, and Private room.

It is located on the basement level of a building along Heiwa-dori, a 5-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Ikebukuro Station.

They offer several courses where you can enjoy shabu-shabu and a la carte dishes. The "Kotobuki" in the photo is a popular course that centers on Yamagata-gyu (Yamagata beef) and lets you generously compare four cuts of Agu-buta (Okinawan Agu pork).

The Yamagata-gyu is said to have a melt-in-your-mouth texture with rich flavor that spreads across the palate. The Agu-buta is known for its sweet fat and strong umami.

For lunch, they offer several good value courses that include shabu-shabu, seasonal Appetizers, dessert, and all-you-can-refill rice. Each one guarantees a Private room for the first 5 parties.

The photo shows the "Ohiru no Kotobuki Course," where you can enjoy Yamagata gyu (Yamagata beef), Agu buta (Agu pork) belly, and Chuck Eye Roll of Kirishima buta (Kirishima pork) from southern Kyushu.

株と外食

The Okinawa Agu pork shabu-shabu was better than the Yamagata beef shabu-shabu. The ochazuke topped with the leftover broth from the shabu-shabu To finish was also very good. The dining area was fairly spacious, and the service was solid.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice, and the Private room was a quiet and relaxing space. The course from Appetizers to shabu-shabu had just the right number of dishes, and the amount of meat was also just right. The service was excellent, and their thoughtful attention made us feel very comfortable. I would like to visit again.

Shabu Shabu Shotaian Yodobashi HD Ikebukuro Biru Ten

Shabushabu Shoutaian Yodobashi HD Ikebukuro Biru Ten, located on the 8th floor of a building directly connected to Ikebukuro Station, is a restaurant where you can enjoy shabu-shabu and sukiyaki made with Domestic beef, as well as Hamburger Steak and more.

The interior has a casual feel where you can enjoy shabu-shabu without any formality. It offers table seating and Private rooms.

For both lunch and dinner, they serve a "shabu-shabu Gozen set" that comes with Appetizers, rice, and a vegetable assortment, and it is popular because you can choose from many options based on the cut and weight of the meat.

Another nice point is that each person gets their own Hot Pot, so you can eat at your own pace. You eat it with goma dare (sesame sauce) and ponzu, made by mixing citrus juice and vinegar.

The photo shows the “Kuroge Wagyu Shimofuri Rosu Shabu-shabu Gozen set (160g),” featuring loin with finely marbled fat, and it is popular for its melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich meat flavor.

The lunch Gozen set is said to be a slightly better deal than dinner.

絵梨花ぽん

I had the beef shabu-shabu dinner course at this restaurant. The first meat dish served after the Appetizers was marbled seared roast, and the moment I took a bite, it melted in my mouth and filled it with great flavor. After that, the restaurant’s signature Hamburger Steak and the beef shabu-shabu in the Hot Pot were just as good as I had hoped.

The taste and portion size were both very Manzoku. The interior has a calm Japanese modern feel. (Each) table is fairly spacious, and this time we were able to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace in a Semi-private room. I’d like to visit again when I want to have some delicious shabu-shabu (Japanese hot pot)!

Shabu-tei Kotobuki Ikebukuro Honten

Shabu-Tei Kotobuki Ikebukuro Honten is a shabu-shabu specialty restaurant where you can enjoy agu pork (Okinawan native pork), one of Japan’s top domestic pork brands, and A5 rank Ishigaki gyu (Ishigaki beef).

The modern, calm interior has 5 tables that can be used like Semi-private rooms with blinds. It is located on the 5th floor of a building, a 5-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Ikebukuro Station.

They offer a wide range of kaiseki (traditional multi-course) courses, where you can enjoy not only shabu-shabu but also a la carte dishes made with ingredients shipped directly from Okinawa. You can also add an All you can drink option.

For the Ishigaki gyu (Ishigaki beef), they use female Spencer roll. The quality of the rich marbling is excellent, and it is said to be an outstanding cut packed with sweet, delicious flavor.

For aguu-buta (Okinawan Agu pork), the recommended way to enjoy the sweetness and umami in its rich fat is not as shabu-shabu, but by placing the meat on top of the vegetables and steaming it before eating. The rich flavor and sweetness are said to spread through your mouth.

Since this restaurant is limited to 5 groups a day and is by reservation only, it is best to book early.

いくぞう1920

The restaurant was a small space with a calm atmosphere. Since the owner is from Okinawa, they use Okinawa agu buta (Okinawan Agu pork), and the shabu-shabu was tasty with no off notes. The lineup of Okinawa-style snacks, including umi budou (sea grapes), was a nice touch️

I’ve been here about 10 times by now, and no matter how many times I eat it, I never get tired of it—this pork shabu-shabu is god-tier. This time they were test introducing kibimaru-buta (Kibimaru pork) shabu-shabu, and I got to try it. Agu was also amazing, but kibimaru was tender, sweet, and delicious too. I never imagined I’d get to compare top-quality pork side by side, so it felt like a real treat of a night.

Ramu Shabu Kin no Me Ikebukuro Ten

Just a 3-minute walk from the north exit of JR Ikebukuro Station, Ramu Shabu Kin no Me Ikebukuro Ten sits on the corner of Tokiwa-dori and Nishi Ichibangai Chuo-dori. You can enjoy shabu-shabu with lamb and rare mushrooms.

For lighter eaters, the "eat-it-all per person set" is recommended. You can choose from a wide variety of menu items.

食ジョニー

First, the star of the meal: lamb. Thinly sliced, the meat has finely textured fat, and after just a few seconds of swishing it through the broth shabu-shabu style, it turns a delicate light pink. The moment it hits your mouth, the lamb’s distinct aroma gently spreads, followed by a slow wave of sweetness and umami. It has no off notes, tastes refined, and feels light enough that you could keep eating slice after slice.

I visited with a group of 4 friends. We went with the Hot Pot All you can eat and All you can drink plan that included beer. From the very first explanation, the staff were polite and easy to understand, the lamb was especially good, and there was a wide variety of seasonings to change up the flavor, which made it even more enjoyable.

Toraijun

Toraijun offers shabu-shabu with lamb, pork, and beef in a traditional Chinese Hot Pot. The interior, with table seating and Private rooms, is said to have an authentic Chinese feel, based on red and gold.

It is on the 6th floor of a building on the Kaku lot where Mizuki-dori and Nishi Ichibangai Chuo-dori meet, just a 1-minute walk from the North Exit of JR Ikebukuro Station.

The cloisonné used here is a traditional copper Hot Pot from Beijing. Charcoal is placed inside the pot to heat it.

You can choose from 6 types of soup. It is best to ask the staff about the spice level. You can also choose your dipping sauce from 5 options, including sesame sauce and grated garlic.

A la carte orders are also available, but the courses with All you can eat and drink are popular because they offer good value. If you do not drink alcohol, there is also a reasonably priced All you can drink soft drink option, so you can order with peace of mind.

The lamb is said to be tasty with no off notes. Along with beef and chicken, you can also fully enjoy vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, and more.

simen303

Eating from an old Beijing copper pot really has a nice feel to it. Charcoal fired shabu-shabu tastes better than using an induction cooker, and both the atmosphere and service are good. There is also a wide variety of vegetables and lamb, and I personally thought it was worth trying at least once.

Lamb is commonly eaten in China, and this restaurant serves it too. This Hot Pot lets you enjoy it with two kinds of soup. Here, I ate it with goma-dare (sesame sauce), and while the flavor is on the rich side, it matches well and tastes great.

Private room Izakaya Nippon Ichi Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Ekimae Ten

"Zenseki Koshitsu Izakaya Nippon Ichi Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Ekimae Ten" is on the 8th floor of a building along Romance-dori, a 3-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Ikebukuro Station.

You can enjoy shabu-shabu made with Bushu-buta (pork from Saitama Prefecture). The interior has a calm Japanese feel, and because all seats are in fully private rooms, you can relax and enjoy your meal.

A feature of this restaurant is that they add fluffy mentaiko tororo, made by mixing tororo with mentaiko (spicy pollock roe), to a soy milk broth.

Mentaiko is a mildly spicy food made by curing the ovaries of Alaska pollock in salt, then pickling and aging them with seasonings such as chili pepper. The staff will add it to the Hot Pot for you.

The Bushu-buta (Bushu pork) used for the shabu-shabu has finely textured lean meat and sweet fat. You can order either a course that also includes individual dishes or A la carte.

To finish a course, one of the highlights is the carbonara-style udon shown in the photo. Even with A la carte, you can order soba for an extra charge.

たまこちゃんのグルメ

Among the Appetizers, the shirasu (whitebait) and avocado canapés were especially good and left a strong impression. For the main shabu-shabu, the staff added a large amount of mentaiko tororo (pollock roe and grated yam) to the Hot Pot right in front of us, which made quite an impact visually. There was plenty of Bushu-buta (Bushu pork) as well, and the combination of soy milk broth and mentaiko tororo went perfectly together and tasted great!

The tororo pork shabu-shabu and Caesar salad were delicious. The tororo pork shabu-shabu came with plenty of vegetables and tororo (grated yam), and it was my first time putting tororo into a Hot Pot. I think I might get hooked on it. The Caesar salad had lots of cheese and was very satisfying. You could really feel the care that went into it.

They also offer the luxurious "Kuroge Wagyu Course," which lets you fully enjoy Kuroge Wagyu.

やまのあひる

Whenever I want to eat shabu-shabu, I always come here. Depending on who I go with, making half of it sukiyaki (Japanese hot pot simmered in sweet soy sauce) doubles the fun! They bring extra meat right away, and they also keep the vegetables well stocked, so I can always enjoy my meal here with peace of mind.

The wide tables are easy to use, which is another plus, and even groups do not feel cramped. It was nice to grab the vegetables you like while gathering around the Hot Pot and enjoying a lively atmosphere, so we could relax and have a good time. Even though it was All you can eat, it still gave a solid sense of Manzoku, and we left completely full. This is a place I would like to visit again when I want to enjoy casual shabu-shabu in Ikebukuro.

The assortment of vegetables also gets good reviews for coming with a collagen ball. Adding it to the Hot Pot is said to give the broth more depth.

Also, the "To finish zosui (rice porridge)" made with broth packed with the flavor of the ingredients is said to be very tasty. The zosui comes with the shabu-shabu Hot Pot course, and you can also order the extra "To finish gohan (rice)," which comes as a set with rice for zosui, egg, banno-negi (all-purpose green onion), and shredded nori.

カニ-

The pork belly itself was delicious, and the dashi broth brought out the meat’s flavor, making it a perfect match. The meat had such a rich taste that the thick cut felt like a nice surprise. Another thing I liked was that extra orders were not limited to vegetable sets and could also be made item by item. I like eating only what I want, so I really appreciated this system.

Enjoy a Hot Pot where the dashi (Japanese soup stock) takes center stage, with Iwanaka-buta (Iwanaka pork) and plenty of vegetables, then finish things off properly with zosui (rice porridge). The price range was also reasonable, making this an easy place to revisit. Not just for winter, but also a good option for days when you want to get back on track.

I had kani-shabu (crab hotpot) at a restaurant for the first time. I chose the crab course, which started with boiled tarabagani (red king crab), chawanmushi (savory egg custard), and shumai, followed by kani-shabu. Every dish let the crab shine and tasted great.
