Tori Go

Tori Go is a yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) restaurant tucked away on a quiet backstreet one block off Yamate-dori, about a 5-minute walk from Nakameguro Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.

The gray-toned interior has 9 counter seats. You can enjoy yakitori in a refined space with a grown-up feel.

You can enjoy a course of yakitori featuring Hinai jidori (Hinai chicken) along with branded chickens from around Japan.

The recommendation is the "Omakase 10-item course." It lets you try items like thigh, bonjiri (tail), and Kaga renkon (Kaga lotus root). Reviews also say the seasoning and grilling are spot on.

To finish the course, you can choose chicken soba, soboro Rice bowl, or oyako-don (chicken and egg Rice bowl).

Reviews speak highly of the "oyako-don." The soft, creamy egg is full of dashi flavor, making this a dish where you can enjoy a different side of chicken from yakitori.

This restaurant specializes in chicken dishes, and I was able to enjoy the full appeal of chicken from start to finish. The first dish I had, chicken liver, had no off notes at all, and its rich, smooth taste really stood out. The cooking was spot on, and I could really taste the good flavor of the chicken. The drinks paired with the food also matched well and made the meal even more enjoyable.

To finish, I chose the oyako-don (chicken and egg rice bowl). The egg added at the end was an onsen tamago (soft-cooked hot spring egg), and its soft, creamy texture was really good. The portion is quite filling, so it’s best to share it with your dining companion or save some room in advance.

YAKITORI B NAKAMEGURO

YAKITORI B NAKAMEGURO is a yakitori restaurant located about a 1-minute walk from Nakameguro Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.

The 12 counter seats create an upscale space finished with Mortex, making it a good choice for a Special day as well.

You can enjoy yakitori made mainly with Hakata jidori (Hakata local chicken), including rare cuts from Hinai Jidori and Daisen Jidori.

The yakitori is all thick and very filling. The thigh is said to be juicy and springy, with especially nice grilling and just the right amount of salt.

Another draw of this restaurant is its excellent wine selection, best enjoyed in Kimura Glass (glassware brand) ultra-thin glasses.

The wide lineup is well regarded, ranging from reasonably priced bottles to premium wines such as Kenzo Estate and Opus One.

東京グルメ探訪|看護師ママの美食日記

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), the main attraction, were all carefully grilled and really brought out the quality of the ingredients. What stood out most was the kamo (duck) skewer. It was juicy, rich in flavor, and had just the right smokiness, so good that I wanted to order more without thinking. The other skewers were just as solid, with every single one feeling high quality.

Yakitori Kaku Re

Yakitori Kakure is a yakitori tavern tucked away in a quiet alley just off the main street, about a 5-minute walk from Nakameguro Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.

With a gray color scheme and touches of bamboo, wood, and stone, the interior has a refined Japanese feel throughout, making it an appealing space where you can relax and take your time.

You can enjoy Kogen Hinai Jidori and rare Kisa Kirari Jidori in yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) style.

The standard way to order is to start with an easy course menu and add your favorite small plates. Another reason for its popularity is the fun of choosing based on how much you want to eat and what you feel like having.

In addition to Japanese sake, they also put a lot of effort into their wine selection.

They offer around 10 kinds of Champagne and sparkling wine, plus about 15 kinds each of red and white, making for a solid lineup. The wines are chosen with their production region and class in mind, and if you are not sure what to pick, you can ask the sommelier.

The food was delicious, and the atmosphere felt refined. Each skewer was grilled with care, with an excellent balance of smoky aroma and juiciness. The reba (liver) and tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) in particular were so well done that they were memorable down to the aftertaste. The service was pleasant too, and it is the kind of place that makes you want to come back.

I also really like the tucked-away, hideout-like location just a short walk from Nakameguro Station. The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and dishes prepared by the taisho (head chef) were all colorful, beautifully plated, and delicious. Even the tableware is carefully chosen, and every carefully thought-out plate felt like something you could only experience here.

Yakitori Suehirogari

The interior has a stylish atmosphere that blends casual comfort with refined taste. With just 14 seats in total, it is a small space where you can enjoy your meal while taking your time over conversation.

Yakitori made with Special ingredients and cooked to perfection, along with dishes that bring in French elements, have earned this place a reputation for great food.

The charcoal-grilled yakitori is tender and juicy. They serve it as part of carefully prepared à la carte dishes and course meals.

To finish the course, they serve "Motsuni (stewed offal) Omurice."

The rich miso-based motsuni is nice and tender. The soft-cooked egg goes perfectly with it, making this a must-try dish. They also recommend adding balsamic vinegar.

たべたべのたべ

This is a place with very highly refined sumibi-yakitori (charcoal grilled chicken skewers). Each skewer is cooked with precision, fragrant on the outside and surprisingly juicy inside. The differences in texture and flavor from cut to cut come through clearly, and the salt seasoning is light but right on point. The tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) and momo (chicken thigh) in particular bring out the meat’s natural sweetness, while the tare glazed skewers are done with great balance and never overly charred.

eat too much

This popular yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) spot stands out in a back alley of Nakameguro. I visited for the first time after hearing that it was "comfortable" and that the skewers were "high quality," and it was even better than I expected. The space blends a casual feel with a refined touch. You can enjoy the live feel of the skewers being prepared right over the counter, and savor high quality yakitori without feeling formal.

The stylish interior has counter and table seating, and it is said to have a calm atmosphere where you can enjoy your meal in comfort.

A key feature is how each skewer is grilled to bring out the best flavor of each cut while keeping the juicy texture. Hinatoro, bonjiri (tail), negima, and the seasonal tsukune (chicken meatball) are especially popular.

The kamo-shabu (duck shabu-shabu) with duck and vegetables is also one of the popular dishes here.

It is served in a style that brings out the rich flavor of the duck by dipping it in a clear golden dashi broth. Reviews also said the light seasoning made it a healthy dish to enjoy along with the yakitori.

Nanny0723

We went with a course that comes with All you can drink. It was convenient not having to worry about ordering, too. It is quite a Manpuku menu. The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) not only tastes great, but also looks carefully presented. There are also several Semi-private room style rooms.

I ordered the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) that caught my eye A la carte, and personally the shiro reba (white liver) and tongue were just too good. It was fun to eat because there were cuts I had never tried before and interesting flavor combinations! I was especially Surprising by the tsukudani (seafood or other ingredients simmered in soy sauce)! It goes well with both alcohol and rice!

Chanko Shibamatsu Nakameguro Ten

Chanko Shibamatsu Nakameguro Ten is a restaurant run by a former sumo wrestler, serving chanko-nabe (sumo stew Hot Pot) and stamina dishes, about a 6-minute walk from Nakameguro Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.

The restaurant displays paintings of sumo wrestlers and noren (traditional shop curtains) inspired by mawashi (sumo loincloths), so you can enjoy your meal in a sumo-themed atmosphere.

In addition to the classic chanko-nabe (sumo-style Hot Pot), they also offer a wide range of à la carte dishes.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) uses fresh chicken sourced from the Shibaura Meat Market and is known for its springy texture and juicy taste. If you want to enjoy a selection of popular items all at once, the "Ozeki Course," which also includes yakitori, comes recommended.

The chanko Hot Pot, with a soup that takes time and care to prepare, is the highlight here, and you can choose from 4 kinds.

Built on a broth of kombu kelp and bonito, then layered with chicken bones, chicken wings, beef tendon, onions, and more, it is simmered for about 8 hours for a deep, rich taste. Reviews say the authentic miso chanko is especially popular.

DreamMaker

The miso chanko (sumo-style hotpot) is especially recommended, and once you start eating it, it is so good you could keep going forever! The ingredients in the chanko, such as tsumire (fish balls), aburaage (fried tofu), and chicken, are all fresh and excellent. Everything at this restaurant is good no matter what you order, the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) is excellent too, and even the kani cream croquette (crab cream croquette) is large and very tasty.

Cony_Brown

Many chochin (paper lanterns) were hanging from the ceiling, there was also ozashiki (tatami seating), and the atmosphere inside was really nice. The sashimi, yakitori, and chanko-nabe (sumo-style Hot Pot) were all very good, but the kani cream croquette stood out with its crispy outside and creamy inside! I’m glad I chose the recommended miso flavor for the chanko-nabe! Now that Hot Pot season is here, I’d definitely love to go again.

Hashidaya Nakameguro Ten

Hashidaya Nakameguro Ten is a chicken specialty restaurant along the Meguro River, about a 4-minute walk from Nakameguro Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.

The two-story restaurant feels like visiting a kominka (traditional Japanese house). From the second-floor seats, you can look out over the Meguro River, which changes its feel with the seasons.

You can enjoy chicken dishes made with Special jidori (free-range chicken), as well as Hakata-style mizutaki Hot Pot.

For the charcoal-grilled items, you can order by cut, including thigh, breast, wing, and Cartilage. They have a great reputation for the careful grilling and tasty results.

The standard mizutaki (chicken hotpot) is "Shiromaru (White Circle)."

The house made soup, made from chicken bones, has a clean taste and is rich in collagen. You can also enjoy changing up the flavor by adding yuzu kosho (yuzu chili paste) partway through, and finishing with champon noodles or beni shoga (pickled red ginger).

まっつん516

Both the tori paitan nabe (creamy chicken Hot Pot) and the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) were very good. This restaurant has a lot of character and sits along the Meguro River in Nakameguro, and we had Hot Pot, yakitori, and more in the second-floor zashiki (tatami seating area). I think it is just the right kind of place for a casual meal with a small group of friends or colleagues. I would also like to go again with my family.

美食★大好き

I had yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and oyako-don (chicken and egg Rice bowl). Also, the atsuage (deep-fried tofu) was really delicious! The atmosphere was also very nice, and if the cherry blossoms are in bloom, it seems the surroundings are especially lovely. The oyako-don had a light flavor and was easy to eat. I also wanted to try the nabe (Hot Pot), but I just couldn’t eat that much. The oyako-don was the best dish. It was a great meal.

Not only is dinner great, but lunch is also said to be high quality.

The meat is known for its just-right bite and rich flavor. The yakitori, with its fragrant charcoal aroma, also pairs well with wine and whiskey.

The "ultimate" oyako-don (chicken and egg Rice bowl) made with Amakusa Daio (a premium Japanese chicken breed) is a popular dish known for its top quality ingredients and great taste.

To bring out a nice aroma, they sear only the skin side of the chicken over binchotan (high-grade Japanese charcoal), and use Yumeo (rich egg brand) for the eggs, known for their deep umami and richness. They finish it with house-made dashi, and the truffle, caviar, and foie gras toppings make it feel especially luxurious.

野毛好きおしゆ

I had visited quite a while ago, but the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) was just as good as ever! The sunagimo (gizzard) felt like one of the best I’ve had anywhere. They were having a truffle fair, so the potato salad topped with lots of truffle was also outstanding! The yakitori went so well with wine that I already want to go back!

どろあす

I tried Amakusa Daio chicken for the first time. It was juicy, pleasantly firm, and very tasty! Even though it had some bite, it was not tough at all, but more springy, which was a texture I personally loved. The skewers also included some rare cuts, so I enjoyed trying a variety of them.

t440.

A popular yakitori restaurant in Nakameguro. No matter what you order, the yakitori is high level. The grilled chicken skin, especially with sansho (Japanese pepper) sprinkled on top, is so good you will want another serving. To finish, the kama-meshi (rice cooked in a pot) is also a specialty here. It takes a little time, but the coarse ground chicken soboro (seasoned minced chicken) is excellent.

The chicken rice croquette with tomato basil sauce had a great balance of chicken flavor and tanginess that made me want just one more bite. The Kansai-style dashimaki tamago (rolled omelet with dashi) was full of savory broth and had a comforting taste. Yakitori isn’t the only reason to come here, and that’s part of what makes Momotaro so appealing. It’s just the kind of place you’ll want to drop by for everyday dining or on a casual night out.

Kemuri Sandaime in Nakameguro

Kemuri Sandaime in Nakameguro is a popular spot right near Nakameguro Station, loved for its easy access, yakitori made with Kenmidori (chicken from Yamanashi Prefecture), and carefully selected Japanese sake.

It also has a spacious counter, and the atmosphere makes it easy to drop in even on your own.

Fresh chicken butchered and prepared every morning, along with a secret sauce passed down through three generations over 50 years, are both very popular.

Their chikimo-kushi (blood liver skewer), carefully grilled one skewer at a time, is said to be amazingly smooth and juicy. It has no off notes, yet still delivers plenty of rich flavor.

The drinks menu gets high marks for its wide selection, including Japanese sake, shochu, ginger liqueur, and yuzu liqueur.

The Japanese sake lineup ranges from classic to neo-classic styles, and if you are not sure what to choose, they can recommend a seasonal bottle.

The best yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) of my life. The liver is outstanding✨The staff are all very friendly too, and it’s the kind of wonderful place that makes you want to come back no matter how many times you visit. It has the deep taste you expect from branded pork, and it also goes great with drinks. Reviews also say that each carefully made skewer is packed with attention to detail and leaves you feeling Manzoku.

Fresh fish shipped directly from fishing ports around Japan, including Hiratsuka Port, is also very popular.

Because the restaurant sources directly without going through middlemen, one of the big draws is that you can enjoy seasonal ingredients at peak freshness. You can try them in many different preparations, including sashimi, grilled dishes, and simmered dishes, and also enjoy blessings from the sea such as house made himono (dried fish).

きのこ9980

Starting with the osashimi (sliced raw fish) assortment instantly got us excited. Every piece was thick cut and super fresh, a lineup that makes you want Japanese sake. The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) was juicy and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. Add a little yuzu kosho (yuzu pepper paste) or karamiso (spicy miso), and the highball goes down fast.

It has a homey feel and is said to have many regulars. The restaurant has counter seats, Sunken kotatsu seating, and fully private room seating. It is also popular with families.

In addition to Hot Pot and fresh fish, you can also enjoy yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) finished with a secret house sauce.

They use chicken sourced from around Japan, and their homemade sauce, built up over 35 years, is said to be delicious. Slow grilling brings out even more flavor, making it a great match for drinks.

They stock famous premium labels such as Moriizo, Juyondai, Murao, and Maou.

They also get high marks for their wide lineup of drinks that pair well with the food, including authentic shochu and local sake from all over Japan.

Of course, you can order your favorite drink A la carte, but if you love alcohol, a course with All you can drink is also recommended.

UMU

Everything I tried, from sashimi to yakitori, was delicious, and they also had a wide selection of drinks, including Japanese sake. Even though it is in Nakameguro, the prices are reasonable and the place feels very comfortable, so it is the kind of restaurant that makes you want to come back. I went in a bit early that day, so I was seated without any trouble, but by the time I left, it was full.

Tori Beer Nakameguro

Tori Beer Nakameguro is an izakaya (Japanese pub) located just steps from Nakameguro Station. It stays open until 5 the next morning, so it is also handy for an After-Party, a third round, and more.

Inside, the retro-style two-story space has counter and table seating on the first floor. If you want to enjoy some private time, the Special Private room on the second floor comes recommended.

The restaurant is known for tasty dishes made with young chicken from Miyazaki and fresh farm to table vegetables.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) here is not served on skewers. Instead, they grill it first and then cut it into pieces. The seseri (neck meat) has a slightly firm texture with rich fat, while the kata-karubi (meat from around the shoulder blade) is said to be juicy and light in taste.

The top pick is the "Mix Yaki," which lets you enjoy various cuts of chicken grilled with salt.

You can enjoy different textures from each cut, including gizzard and yagen nankotsu (chicken breast cartilage). The chicken is grilled until fragrant, and people say it is juicy and goes perfectly with alcohol.

ナオさま

We had a very fun time. The name Special room is nice too! The yakitori (grilled chicken) is not served on skewers but as separate pieces, so it is easy to share even in a large group.

豆沢まめ子

Just as the name suggests, they serve a lot of chicken, so the yakitori (grilled chicken) is great! Even though it is called yakitori, it is not served on skewers, and each piece is bite-sized, so it is easy to eat. I really love the bonjiri (chicken tail) here.

Ganso Yakitori Kushihacchin Nakameguro Ten

Ganso Yakitori Kushihacchin Nakameguro Ten is a popular spot about a 2-minute walk from Nakameguro Station, known for serving yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) at reasonable prices.

In addition to table seating, there is also counter seating, and the place is said to have an easygoing atmosphere that works well for many occasions, from solo visits to drinks with friends.

Centered on skewers made with Domestic chicken, this izakaya serves chicken dishes and menu items that pair well with drinks.

The standard skewers are all said to be juicy and full of flavor. The photo shows the popular Omakase 8-skewer assortment. Since you can order from just 1 skewer, you can also try a variety little by little.

A popular snack to go with drinks is the "Shio Motsu Nikomi (salted stewed offal)" shown in the photo.

The motsu has no off notes, and the daikon radish and carrots are said to have a tender flavor. The shredded konnyaku (yam cake) also adds a nice accent, and the light taste is said to be appealing.

무미무슈

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) was served freshly made, so it tasted really good! The karashi miso (spicy mustard miso) and yuzukosho (yuzu chili pepper paste) paired very well with it, and it was the kind of yakitori I could keep eating without stopping! I especially thought the negima (chicken and scallion skewer) and tongue were particularly tasty! There were 3 kinds of umeshu (plum wine), and this time I had the white and black varieties. Both were easy to drink and went very well with the yakitori.

とらとら団 団長

I had beer and several kinds of skewers. Their specialty pii-niku was reliably good as always. I also liked the unconventional one that was kind of like isobeyaki (seaweed-grilled style). Next time, I want to stay through the final dish too. It is nice to drop in casually, have a quick drink, and then casually walk along the riverside again.
