Aya tori Tori

Sai tori tori is a yakitori restaurant with a calm atmosphere, just a 2-minute walk from Ueno Station. The restaurant mainly uses Suigo Akadori (red chicken from the Suigo area), known for its rich flavor and tender meat.

You can also enjoy carefully selected Japanese sake and wine along with the yakitori.

The photo shows the "negima," which is said to be carefully grilled over binchotan (high-grade Japanese charcoal) with slow, steady heat.

You can enjoy its tender texture and plump, springy bite.

The "reba (liver)" is known for its freshness. It seems to have a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a rich flavor when you take a bite.

This popular menu item has no off notes at all, and they say it pairs well with Japanese sake and wine.

しょじもん

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) range from standards like sasami (chicken tenderloin) and liver to rarer items like kamo mune-niku (duck breast) and kamo kawa (duck skin) (simmered until tender, then grilled), and every skewer is cooked just right. The à la carte dishes are also excellent, and the tebasaki (chicken wings) braised in a lu rou fan style has a rich seasoning that goes great with alcohol.

I ordered the seven-skewer set, soboro gohan (seasoned minced chicken rice), and a drink. Every skewer in the seven-skewer set was refined and served at just the right temperature. The most delicious one was, surprisingly, the kinoko (mushroom). This is very refined yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), so it does not feel very Ueno-like, but people who like that style will probably enjoy it.

Jidoriya Goku Ueno Ten

Jidoriya Goku Ueno Ten is a yakitori restaurant that sources chicken processed that very morning. It is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Ueno Station.

The interior has a hideaway-like atmosphere, and you can enjoy your meal at a relaxed pace.

The "bonjiri (chicken tail)" is said to let you enjoy the rich taste of fragrant fat. It is seasoned with Special salt from Guerande in France.

This popular cut lets you enjoy a crisp outer texture and juicy fat.

“Tsukimi tsukune,” which you enjoy with egg yolk, offers a rich flavor. Among the many menu items, this popular dish really lets you feel the chef’s skill.

It is said to be grilled over binchotan (high-grade white charcoal), giving it a juicy finish.

I went because I wanted to eat the liver here! It was seriously incredibly good. 4 liver skewers, 2 bonjiri (tail meat) skewers, 2 thigh skewers, 1 tsukune (chicken meatball) skewer, 1 shiitake mushroom skewer, and a mikan (mandarin orange) soda alcoholic drink came to JPY4092. The other yakitori was also excellent! The liver is the best.

一ノ瀬正紘

The restaurant is in the lively Ueno area, but the interior is calm, so you can take your time and enjoy authentic sumibi-yakitori (charcoal-grilled chicken skewers). The yakitori in particular was grilled just right and had a nice smoky aroma, and I could really taste the rich flavor of the chicken. I also saw many reviews saying the reba (liver) and tsukimi tsukune (chicken meatball with egg yolk) are delicious, so I’d definitely like to try them next time.

日本食通研究学会

The restaurant looks fairly stylish, and the inside is neat and clean too. Although they call it a Semi-private room, it is really just separated by a bamboo blind, but it feels good enough. The skewers have good value for the price. They cost about 300 yen, but they are properly tasty. The gizzard, liver, and ponjiri (chicken tail) all felt impressively good for standard yakitori.

フォーチュングルメ

Sunagimo (chicken gizzard) has a nice crunchy texture, the skin is crisp and fragrant, and the negima (chicken and scallion skewer) is juicy with meat juices bursting out. Sunagimo is rich in iron and also great for a stamina boost.

I was in the mood for yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), so I stopped in! Everything I ordered was delicious! My favorite was especially the chicken nanban! It was big and juicy. I ordered soba at the end of the meal! The chicken was plump and springy, so I recommend it too. The fried nagaimo (Japanese yam) was also nice and crispy! There were lots of other things I wanted to try, so I’d like to visit again next time.

What stood out most were the beautiful tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet) in the photo and the fried koebi (small shrimp), which looked fun to eat with their crisp texture. The tamagoyaki had a bright yellow color and a lovely shape, and even though this is a jidori (free-range chicken) specialty restaurant, you can feel the careful attention to detail. メーニー

That day, we ordered tsukune (chicken meatballs), ebi shumai (shrimp shumai), sliced tomatoes, a yakitori assortment, chicken Kara-age, and French fries! The tsukune was grilled well and seasoned with salt, so unlike a sauce glazed version, it was not too rich, and it was light and easy to eat!

We also really enjoyed the salad with tofu, motsu-nabe (offal Hot Pot), yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), liver with lots of green onions, tempura, Kara-age, and the ramen to finish the Hot Pot. Both the drinks and the food were very good, so if I go to Ueno Ameyoko again, I would choose Nonchan Ameyoko Ten again.

I was surprised and thought, can it really cost this little after being this good and this satisfying Manzoku? I ordered cuts I do not usually eat, as well as cheese, and everything was great. What surprised me most was the shiro reba (white liver), because even though I am not usually a big fan of liver, it was so good I wanted to order it one more time.
