Mr.ワニ

First, we toasted with draft beer. It was ice cold, the best first glass! And what really impressed us was the sashimi assortment (10 kinds). Every piece was incredibly fresh and nicely thick. The nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) and chutoro (medium fatty tuna) were especially great. Partway through, we switched to Japanese sake and chose "Mii no Kotobuki." It paired perfectly with the sashimi, and I couldn't help ordering another glass (lol)

ヤンマーサ

The Otokochu assortment is a luxurious menu item topped with 10 kinds of seasonal sashimi‼︎It looks beautiful too, and feels like a must-order. The potato salad makes a great snack to go with drinks. If you have any Clay Pot rice left, they will wrap it up for you, so Takeout is also possible. It was a wonderful izakaya where you can relax and enjoy seasonal dishes in a calm atmosphere. If you are not sure where to go around Hakata Station, you cannot go wrong here.

The menu was extensive and everything looked delicious, but the signature goma saba (sesame dressed mackerel) was especially good. There was also a wide selection of drinks, and I had it with some chilled sake from Saga. I’ll be back.

The goma-saba (sesame mackerel) had no off notes, and the motsu-nabe (offal Hot Pot) was excellent too. We also ordered half a squid and had it as sashimi and Kara-age (tempura?), and that was very good as well. The first thing ordered was the mentaiko (spicy cod roe) cream cheese. When you think of Hakata, it has to be mentaiko. It goes great with cream cheese, and the right balance of saltiness and mellow richness spreads across the palate. It is also a great dish to enjoy with drinks. Next came the fried oysters. The coating was crispy, while the oysters inside were juicy. Paired with tartar sauce, they tasted even richer.

Aoisa

Every dish was delicious. The toro-taku maki (fatty tuna and pickled daikon roll) was especially the best. The restaurant had a lively feel, but it was clean and open, so I could relax and enjoy my time there. The selection of drinks was also great. The salad was also very good, so next time I’d like to try a different kind. The staff were friendly too.

のぼりんグルメ

The motsu-nabe (offal Hot Pot) is plump, springy, tender, and the best! There is no bitterness or off notes at all, and it melted in my mouth in an instant. The light miso flavor also really whets the appetite. The vegetables soak up the fat from the motsu and turn nice and soft... all I can say is, it is just the best!! The drinks go down easy.

While sipping your drink, you can snack on things that pair well with alcohol, like senmai (omasum), sumotsu (vinegared pork offal), and mentaiko (spicy cod roe). The Appetizers, or rather the snack type dishes, are also quite tasty, so the place seems good for using like an izakaya too.

I had authentic Fukuoka motsu-nabe (offal Hot Pot). They also had a great selection of drinking snacks such as basashi (horse sashimi), so I could enjoy nibbling on a few things while waiting for the motsu-nabe to be prepared. Even so, the main dish, the motsu-nabe, was still the standout and tasted great.

メグルメ。

When it comes to motsu-nabe (offal Hot Pot) in Hakata, it has to be Tasshu. It would not be an exaggeration to say it is the best in Japan. The plump, bouncy motsu melts in your mouth, and the soup is rich yet so good you will want to finish every last drop. It is easy to visit even on your own, and the inside has a calm atmosphere. They also offer set menus, which is very considerate. Even the finishing champon (noodles) was perfect, and it was a truly moving bowl. I definitely want to go again.

It’s a place where everything tastes great! If you tell them what you like, they’ll choose seasonal sake and limited edition sake for you. The staff are all very pleasant as well. I recommend it in every way! I’m a little torn about recommending it too much because it might get even harder to book than it already is, but if you want to enjoy delicious yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and drinks, I hope you’ll give it a try♪

Hakata Sabatetsu

Hakata Sabatetsu is an izakaya where you can enjoy saba (mackerel) dishes along with seasonal Hakata cuisine. It is a great choice when you want to enjoy drinks with Hakata local specialties.

The interior has a Japanese feel, with counter seats where you can relax on your own and fully equipped Private rooms for groups of 4.

They offer dishes made with saba (mackerel) in every style, including fresh sashimi, grilled items, and fried dishes.

The photo shows the restaurant's recommended "Goto saba (mackerel) no Tetsubiki." It is a popular menu item with an order rate of nearly 100%, finished with the same delicate touch as thinly sliced fugu (pufferfish) sashimi.

Besides mackerel, there are live seafood dishes that also go great with alcohol. The “ika sugata-zukuri (whole squid sashimi platter)” sourced from Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, is popular for its impressive flesh, which is sweet and tasty.

Beyond sugata-zukuri, they also offer squid lover favorites like “ika shiokara (salted squid)” and “ika shumai (steamed squid dumplings).”

This restaurant mainly serves mackerel, but it also offers meat dishes, fried dishes, and chanko-nabe (sumo-style Hot Pot). It seems to have course meals as well, so it looks like a good option for Banquets too. There was also a wide selection of drinks. The head chef was friendly, so even solo diners might not get bored.

"Goma saba" is not a type of mackerel, but a Fukuoka specialty made with mackerel sashimi marinated in sweet soy sauce and topped with sesame seeds, green onion, and other yakumi (condiments). The rich sesame sauce coated it nicely, making it a dish that paired well with Japanese sake.

Hakata Motsu Hot Pot Yasuaki Fukuoka Hakata Honten

About a 6-minute walk from Kushida Jinja-mae Station, Hakata Motsunabe Yasuaki Fukuoka Hakata Honten is an izakaya where you can enjoy carefully made Hakata motsu-nabe (Hakata offal Hot Pot) along with a wide range of local specialty à la carte dishes.

The interior is said to be neat and full of a clean feel. In addition to the open table seating, it also has fully private rooms where you can keep your personal space.

For the motsu-nabe (offal hot pot), they use their own blend of soy sauce and miso from Kyushu, creating a one of a kind authentic flavor. There is also a spicy miso version.

They generously use only the small intestine from top grade Domestic Wagyu for the motsu. People say the rich and mellow soup pairs perfectly with the deeply flavorful motsu, and that it tastes great.

A full lineup of Hakata specialties is available, including gyoza (dumplings) and mentaiko (spicy cod roe). One of the popular menu items, "Katsu Ika Sugata-zukuri (live squid sashimi served whole)," is also a must-try dish.

This specialty, sourced through the restaurant’s own network, is said to be served freshly prepared right after the squid is cleaned. Its sweet flavor and pleasantly crunchy texture seem to be the big draw.

After all, motsu-nabe (offal Hot Pot) is a must(^ ^) The live squid was also fresh and delicious as is! The tempura after the sashimi platter was great too, and it went really well with the drinks. The motsu-nabe had a rich taste, and we enjoyed every last bite right through the final finishing dish! The other dishes were good too, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. It’s a place I’d like to visit again when I go to Fukuoka.

The motsu Hot Pot is, needless to say, delicious right down to the soup! The broth has the sweetness of Kyushu soy sauce and a clean finish, with the tasty flavor of plump motsu and burdock root, plus the sharp kick of chili pepper that makes it irresistible. To finish, even the champon noodles were incredibly good. The basashi (horse sashimi) was fresh and pleasantly chewy, and the sweet soy sauce paired with it perfectly. The Yobuko ika (squid) was half transparent, and just looking at it got me excited!

Hakata Kaisen Sakana Ichiba

Hakata Kaisen Sakana Ichiba is a seafood izakaya known for dishes made with fresh live fish from the fish tank that pair perfectly with alcohol.

The restaurant is in a great location, just a 1-minute walk from the Hakata Exit of Hakata Station, and inside it has spacious tatami-style Private rooms as well as counter seats where you can dine while watching the chefs at work.

Among the many popular menu items, the top one is the "iki Yariika (live Spear Squid) whole sashimi platter," which is popular not only for its great taste but also for its beautiful presentation, prepared by a skilled ika-shi (squid specialist).

The squid, shipped directly from some of Japan’s leading squid fishing grounds such as Yobuko in Saga Prefecture, is said to have a sweetness that spreads through your mouth with every bite.

They also offer a full lineup of local specialty dishes with a focus on freshness. For a snack that pairs well with drinks, the second most popular item, "ikijime saba no Hakata meibutsu goma-saba (Hakata specialty sesame mackerel made with ikejime mackerel)," comes recommended as well.

This rich dish brings out the full flavor of the mackerel, and the perfectly balanced sauce that goes so well with beer is said to be irresistible.

The ika (squid) swimming in the tank was, as you would expect, amazingly fresh. Its sticky and crunchy texture and sweetness are exactly what you get from super fresh ika. We also enjoyed plenty of other food and drinks, and it turned into a very fun Year-End Party.

米が一番大事。

With an all-round-player kind of menu that leaves little to complain about, and a casual Showa-style interior, this place feels pleasantly relaxing. The food is consistently good across the board, and the prices are reasonable. Just as the name suggests, there are lots of fish dishes, and I ended up drinking a bit too much. They also have local sake (regional Japanese sake), after all. It is a reliable choice when you are not sure where to go.

According to reviews, many people really enjoy the "banshaku set (evening drink set)." It is a good pick when you cannot decide what to order.

The set comes with 1 draft beer, yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), a kobachi (small side dish), and sashimi, and it is well reviewed for being a satisfying lineup.

トム

I had the unusual Hiroshima specialty komochi konnyaku (konjac with roe). It is kneaded with shishamo (smelt) roe, and the popping yet springy texture is really nice. It goes well with that Kyushu soy sauce kind of flavor
