The bright and lively interior mainly has counter seats, along with table seating, so it is easy to stop by whether you are on your own or with a group.

This is the standard gyudon (beef Rice bowl) with miso soup, oshinko (pickled vegetables), and egg added.

It comes in six sizes from Mini to Mega, so you can order based on how hungry you are. Besides the standard gyudon, they also offer different versions such as kimchi gyudon and takana (pickled mustard greens) mentaiko mayo Rice bowl.

They also offer a full lineup of hearty set meal options, including grilled fish, fried eggs, and mazenokke (mixed toppings over rice).

This is the "Gyu Mazenokke set meal" with the side menu item "aburi shio saba (seared salted mackerel)" added. It has a good amount of food and is said to be highly satisfying.

The restaurant is almost full. I take an open counter seat and order the standard gyudon (beef Rice bowl) on the touch panel. It arrives before long. I add shichimi (seven-spice chili pepper) and beni-shoga (pickled red ginger), then dig in. The taste is reliably good.

あろまな

For the morning set meal, I ordered bacon and fried eggs. I asked for a smaller portion of rice, but it was still very filling. The bacon had just the right amount of salt and a crispy texture, and it was delicious. It was a great meal.

Matsuya Gifu Akanabe Ten

Matsuya Gifu Akanabe Ten is a nationwide chain specializing in gyumeshi (beef bowl).

The interior, based on white and wood tones, is bright and clean, and there are counter seats by the window, making it easy to stop in and enjoy a meal even on your own. In addition to gyudon (beef Rice bowl), they offer a wide variety of items including curry and set meals.

The standard menu item gyu-meshi (beef bowl) comes in a wide range of options, from a simple version to ones topped with cheese, kimchi, and more.

The beef and onions are well coated in a sweet and savory sauce, making it tasty all the way to the last bite. Benishoga (pickled red ginger) adds a fresh spicy accent.

The curry menu is also extensive, with “Beef Curry” as the main item.

The “Goro Goro Nikomi Chicken Curry (chunky stewed chicken curry)” pairs tender, fall apart chicken with spicy curry, and people say they finish it in no time.

I chose the Regular size gyumeshi (beef bowl). The gyumeshi comes with miso soup. Nice. The gyumeshi has tender beef with a well seasoned taste, and the onions still have a nice crunch.

こまこまです!

I came to Matsuya because I was curious about the jerk chicken. I got the rice in a Large size, and added tofu to the miso soup. The tofu miso soup had a gentle flavor and was good. As for the jerk chicken itself, it was easier to eat than I expected and went well with the rice.

Bakuro Ichidai Highway Oasis Kawashima Ten

Bakuroidai Haiuei Oashisu Kawashima Ten is located inside Oasis Park in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture.

Its appeal is the food stall style setup, where you can casually enjoy dishes made with Hida-gyu (Hida beef) at the open terrace seating. It seems to be a popular stop for people in the middle of sightseeing.

The popular menu item "Hida gyudon (Hida beef Rice bowl) Niku Zanmai" is a highly satisfying bowl, with an excellent balance of "Hida gyu (Hida beef)" seasoned with a secret sauce and stir-fried vegetables.

It comes in two sizes, S and M, so you can choose based on how hungry you are.

They also have a great selection of items that are good for eating on the go, such as grilled skewers and croquettes.

You can’t go wrong with Bakuichidai, right! So I went with the beef Rice bowl! The meat was super tender! I really loved the seasoning, and it was so good! It feels like I could eat about 3 bowls of rice with this!

・Hida-gyu (Hida beef) grilled skewer
The meat has a nice firm bite, and each chew brings out more of its rich flavor. The surface is nicely grilled and fragrant, with a pleasant sweetness from the right amount of fat. What stood out most was the meat’s quality, which really came through because of the simple seasoning. A skewer that makes you think, this is Hida-gyu for sure.

Nakau Kagamigahara Unuma Ten

Nakao Kakamigahara Unuma Ten is a well known chain restaurant in Kakamigahara, Gifu, where you can enjoy gyudon (beef Rice bowl), noodles, and set meals. It is an 8-minute walk from Kakamigahara Station.

The bright interior, with a white and wood grain theme, mainly has counter seating but also offers table seats, so it is easy to visit whether you are alone or with a group.

The classic "Gyudon (beef Rice bowl)" is popular for its steady, reliable good taste that never changes no matter when you eat it.

The "Gyusuki Rice bowl" in the photo is said to have an excellent balance of thinly sliced meat and onions coated in a sweet and savory sauce. It is also said to have a light finish, making it an easy and approachable bowl.

The popular menu item, the "oyako-don (chicken and egg Rice bowl)," is well known for its rich soft-cooked egg and slightly sweet broth.

The carefully cooked chicken is moist and tender, and mixed with the silky egg, it makes for an addictive taste. It is also recommended to change up the flavor with shichimi (Japanese seven-spice blend) or beni shoga (pickled red ginger).

やべはん

I had oyako-don (chicken and egg Rice bowl) and haikara udon (udon with tempura bits) for the first time in a while. The slightly sweet oyako-don tastes best with plenty of shichimi (seven-spice chili pepper) sprinkled on top for a nice kick. The haikara udon was also light and very delicious.

かめかむ

I tried Nakau's chilled nihachi soba (80:20 buckwheat noodles). The noodles were firm and, surprisingly, had a nice chew to them, so they tasted great. The Kinjirushi Shinshu Azumino-san oroshi hon-wasabi (grated real wasabi from Azumino in Shinshu) also worked really well as an accent, with a strong kick despite its natural brown color from being uncolored. At this price, this taste might be Manzoku!

Gifu Prefecture [Gujo City] Restaurants Where You Can Eat Gyudon (beef Rice bowl)

Soba no Heijin Honten

At Soba no Heijin Honten in Hachiman-cho, Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, you can enjoy your meal while looking out over the beautiful scenery along the Yoshida River.

The interior has the warmth of wood and a calm Japanese style atmosphere. Even first time visitors can relax and enjoy their time there.

The "Hida Gyu Rice bowl" can be enjoyed either as part of a soba set or as an A la carte dish, and it generously uses Hida Gyu (Hida beef) from Gifu Prefecture.

The meat pairs well with the rice made from Gujo-grown "Koshihikari," and it is said to be highly rated for a beef Rice bowl at a soba restaurant.

The "jinenjo seiro (steamed soba with grated Japanese yam)" is a dish that lets you directly enjoy the aroma and smooth texture of the soba, along with the rich flavor of jinenjo (Japanese yam).

It is said that you can enjoy the changing flavors by having the first bite as is, dipping the second bite in the sauce, and eating the third with wasabi.

ssちゃんだ

You can enjoy delicious soba (buckwheat noodles) in a calm atmosphere. The noodles have a very firm bite and are quite satisfying. The jinenjo (Japanese wild yam) is delicious! The kaeshi (seasoned dipping sauce base) also has a rich bonito dashi, which makes the sobayu go down nicely. This is a soba restaurant I’d recommend in Gujo Hachiman.

I came to Gujo Hachiman to see the autumn leaves. After walking around town, I went into a soba restaurant. I ordered the Hida-gyu (Hida beef) lunch set. The soba had a nice firm bite to it. It left me feeling full. The Hida-gyu Rice bowl was just the right portion. I enjoyed it very much.

Yoshinoya Byobuzan PA Nobori Ten

Yoshinoya Byobuzan PA Nobori Ten is a gyudon (beef bowl) chain restaurant located inside the Byobuzan Parking Area on the inbound side of the Chuo Expressway.

The food court is bright and clean, with a casual atmosphere that makes it easy to stop by during a drive. It's also nice that it is Open 24 hours.

Gyudon (beef Rice bowl) is a famously popular menu item, and many regulars have been coming here for years.

One reason for its popularity is that you can enjoy it your way, changing the toppings or asking for extra sauce. They also have a good selection of curry and set meal options.

The Rice bowl and set meal options made with freshly fried Kara-age are also said to be as good as the gyudon (beef bowl).

This is the "Tartar Nanban Kara-age set meal." The Kara-age, marinated in Yoshinoya's special sauce, goes well with the rich tartar sauce, making it a highly satisfying dish.

腹ペコムック

Gyudon (beef Rice bowl) is a reliably satisfying meal, and as always, I pile on plenty of beni shoga (pickled red ginger), sprinkle on shichimi (seven-spice chili pepper), and dig in! Gyudon really is so good~ヽ(^o^)丿。

寿丸

Since they top it with freshly fried katsu (pork cutlet), it takes about 6 minutes for the katsu curry to be served, but the freshly fried katsu is really tasty.
