Miyazaki Prefecture [Miyazaki City]'s Popular Kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) Restaurants
Photograph:DAIking
Sushitora Shinbeppu Honten is a kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurant with multiple restaurants across the Kyushu area. This is the Shinbeppu restaurant, located on the eastern edge of Miyazaki Prefecture near Miyazaki Rinkai Koen (Miyazaki Seaside Park) along the coast.
On weekdays, it operates in two parts for lunch and dinner, while on weekends and holidays, it stays open straight through from daytime into the evening.
In the center of the restaurant, there is counter seating with a large kaiten reen (conveyor belt) and table seating. Sushi chefs stand inside the lane and make sushi right in front of you.
It gets crowded on weekends, so making a reservation in advance is recommended. Some reviews also say it is easy to visit whether you are with children or on your own.
They offer a wide variety of sushi, and the day’s recommended sushi rotates on the conveyor lane. Their aburi-zushi (seared sushi), lightly torched on the surface of the topping just before serving, is also popular.
Their ara-jiru (fish head and fin soup), made with fish heads and fin portions, is also popular. It is a soup with a nice seaside flavor.

This time, I had various items including sujiko (salt-cured salmon roe) and ara-jiru (fish head and bones soup). They had a wide selection of fresh seafood toppings, so much so that it was hard to decide what to eat. It was nice to be able to enjoy small amounts of many different kinds. The sujiko in particular impressed me, with its popping texture and rich umami spreading across the palate. The ara-jiru also had a deep fish broth flavor, with a comforting taste that warmed me through.

They offer everything from seasonal toppings to standard favorites, and this time I ordered buri (yellowtail), negitoro (minced tuna with green onion), anago ippon nigiri (whole conger eel nigiri), and shimaaji (striped jack). Everything was fresh, and it was easy to see why people line up. The kanpachi (greater amberjack) ara-jiru (fish head and bone soup) in particular was outstanding, so good that I’d come back just for that alone. If you want to take your time and enjoy fresh sushi, this place is worth visiting even if you have to wait in line a bit.

This restaurant is located along National Route 10 heading from the west exit of Miyazaki Station toward the Oyodo River. It is the Miyazaki Daiku branch of the nationwide conveyor-belt sushi chain Sushiro.
There are box seats for groups and counter seats for solo diners. You order using the touch panel installed at each table.
Photograph:地鶏の炭火焼マニア
The tuna that Sushiro is particular about is said to be selected for higher quality even among fish caught at the same time. They use a lot of the akami (lean red meat) portion, which has a strong umami flavor.
As for the shari (vinegared sushi rice), they are also particular about keeping it around skin temperature so you can taste both the tang of the vinegar and the sweetness of the rice.
Photograph:地鶏の炭火焼マニア
The soy sauce is an original blend of two flavors. They say it is tailored to Miyazaki-style sweet soy sauce, which locals in Miyazaki enjoy.
They also offer a wide variety of sushi made with kid-friendly ingredients like mayonnaise and cheese. You can put together an assortment of your favorite sushi and take it home.

I visited in the early evening. There is usually a line, but today there was no wait. After taking my seat and looking at the recommended menu, I saw maguro (tuna). At more than JPY1100 for 7 pieces, it may be a bit pricey for Sushiro. The taste is good enough to say it is quite tasty. The cost performance is fairly good, I think.

Negitoro (minced tuna with green onion), kanimiso (crab tomalley), shellfish, and engawa (flounder fin muscle) are all tasty and easy on the wallet. That explains why it’s so popular. Kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) has also changed a lot since my student days, and the quality has gone up.

Sushi Madoka Aeon Mall Miyazaki Ten is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant inside Aeon Mall Miyazaki, near the Miyazaki Port Ferry Terminal. It has its Honten in Kagoshima Prefecture and operates multiple restaurants across the Kyushu area.
There are table and counter seats, and the restaurant is bustling with families. It is so popular that it often gets crowded around lunchtime on weekends.

Sushi also goes around on the kaiten lane (conveyor belt), and you can write what you want to eat on paper and place an order. The itamae (sushi chef) inside the lane will make it for you right away.
It is known for fresh toppings delivered straight from the market and shari (sushi rice) made with rice cooked at the restaurant several times a day.

They offer an extensive sushi menu. Their signature zanmai sushi (three-piece sushi assortment), which combines 3 kinds of sushi, also comes in many varieties.
They also have a full lineup of dishes that go well with alcohol, such as chicken Kara-age, charcoal-grilled items, and fried oysters. The asari (Japanese littleneck clam) miso soup called "kaijiru (clam soup)" is also popular.

The kami no ebi (divine shrimp) also filled my mouth with shrimp, shrimp, shrimp, so good!! The maguro-zanmai (tuna assortment) also really showed how good tuna can be. I believe that when the rolled sushi is tasty, everything at a sushi restaurant is good, so I was very Manzoku. The shime no buta-negi soba (pork and green onion soba to finish) was topped with yuzukosho (yuzu pepper paste) at the end, and it was outstanding!! I have to go again!!

For my order, I picked the standard "ebi mayo (shrimp with mayonnaise)" and "salmon mayo" from the conveyor belt, then had "kai sanshu assortment (three-shellfish assortment)," "Natsu Zanmai (summer assortment)," "engawa (flounder fin)," and "akami maguro (lean tuna)" made right in front of me, and enjoyed their extra-thick cuts with crunchy texture and melt-in-your-mouth goodness♪

Miyazaki Prefecture [Nobeoka City] popular kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurants

Sushi Jijiya Nobeoka Ten is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant with multiple restaurant locations across the Kyushu area, mainly in Kumamoto Prefecture.
Instead of a standard conveyor lane, it uses an "express lane." The dishes you order are delivered to the side of your table as soon as they are ready, carried on a train-themed platform.
Photograph:マッキー2025
The fresh fish, rice, and nori (seaweed) used for the sushi are mainly from Kumamoto Prefecture. Using Special ingredients selected from local ingredients, the restaurant lets you enjoy fresh seafood.
They hold seasonal fairs throughout the year and serve seasonal sushi that you can only enjoy at that time.
Photograph:マッキー2025
The restaurant also offers many sushi items with an extra touch, such as "aburi (lightly seared)" with the surface of the topping lightly torched, and "kombu-jime (cured with kombu kelp)" aged together with kombu kelp.
A limited-quantity assortment of 20 kinds of sushi served on weekdays is the specialty. There were also reviews saying the soft serve dessert is tasty.
mito-siscon
Since I did not have much time, I casually ordered a few items from the restaurant's recommended menu. Whether it was the shari (sushi rice) or the neta (toppings), each part was good. I was especially surprised by how good the nori (seaweed) was.

マッキー2025
Since it is limited to just 20 servings, I went in early. The sushi rice was on the small side, the toppings were fresh, and it came with clam soup for JPY1,100. Manzoku. Today, I ordered the limited-time strawberry parfait for dessert. Was it hime-ichigo (small strawberries)? I think so! Since they place them around the edge by hand, it took some time. It was well worth the wait. The soft serve is the best.

Muten Kura Sushi Nobeoka Ten is in Nobeoka City, located in the northern part of Miyazaki Prefecture. This conveyor belt sushi restaurant stands along National Route 388. It is the Nobeoka branch of a nationwide chain with multiple restaurants in Miyazaki Prefecture as well.
Its exterior is marked by a kura (traditional storehouse)-inspired design. Inside, there are table seats with lanes for serving sushi and counter seats.

At Kura Sushi, not only the sushi but all ingredients they serve, including soy sauce and dashi (Japanese soup stock), are made without the four major additives such as chemical seasonings and artificial sweeteners.
They also pay close attention to the shari (seasoned sushi rice), keeping it at about 36°C, around body temperature, so the rice does not lose its natural sugars.
Photograph:GateRiver’s
They offer a wide variety of nigiri sushi and gunkan, which is made by wrapping nori around shari (sushi rice) and topping it with ingredients. On weekdays only, they also have Rice bowl menu items such as kaisendon (seafood rice bowl).
They also pay close attention to the dashi (Japanese soup stock), and soup dishes such as udon and miso soup are popular. The "Kura Dashi" is a soup that lets you enjoy dashi with a rich, direct umami flavor.

You can place your order from the tablet on the table, which was very convenient. Of course the sushi was good, and there were all kinds of side dishes too, which worked well as snacks to go with drinks. I was thinking it would have been nice if they had salads and a menu with just the sushi toppings, then I realized they actually did have a toppings-only menu,

I wanted to try the udon made with natural dashi (Japanese soup stock), but... sadly, it is only available on weekdays this time. I’ll save it for next time(๑>◡<๑)The sushi was, of course, delicious. The chawanmushi (savory egg custard) was also very good\(^o^)/The pudding was smooth and tasty. The caramel had a nice proper slight bitterness too. I like this pudding(o^^o)

Hama Zushi Miyakonojo Ten is the Miyakonojo branch of Hama Zushi, a conveyor belt sushi chain with locations across Japan. It is in the center of Miyakonojo City, at the southwestern edge of Miyazaki Prefecture near the border with Kagoshima Prefecture.
When you place an order on the tablet, your food is delivered on the lane. Inside, there are box seats with lanes and counter seats, making it easy to visit whether you are dining alone or with family.

The signature maguro (tuna) uses wild-caught fish weighing over 40kg. They slowly thaw the frozen maguro in water with the same salt concentration as seawater so the good flavor does not escape.
Another feature is the five kinds of soy sauce. It is also fun to use different ones depending on the topping.
Photograph:グルマニ
There is also a wide selection of side dishes. They offer all kinds of chawanmushi (savory egg custard) and fried items, and you can also enjoy tempura, Kara-age, takoyaki (octopus balls), and more.
They also have a kids' menu and an alcohol menu, making this a casual restaurant that people of all ages can enjoy.
ショウ@ノムリエ
The shari (sushi rice) also is not too strong on the vinegar, and at this price, with toppings like these, there is nothing to complain about(笑)\(^o^)/The main draw is maguro (tuna), so every shop serves good quality fish. The buri-toro (fatty yellowtail) was rich with fat too♪You can get full for under 2000円.

Since I had reserved through the app, I got to my seat without waiting. It was clean, and even the touch panel felt like an advanced version for this area. They call it kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi), but since you order on the touch panel, it might be better not to call it conveyor belt sushi anymore. I just ordered a few things at random. I appreciated being able to choose half-size shari (sushi rice). The ramen and miso soup came quickly.

Kandagawa Kadogawa Ten is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Kadogawa Town, the center of Higashiusuki District in Miyazaki Prefecture, an area nestled between the mountains of the former production region and the Hyuganada Sea.
Known for serving sushi made with local fish, it is a well loved spot among locals.
Photograph:金太郎610
The seafood they use mainly comes from catches landed at the fishing ports of Kitaura, Nobeoka, and Kadogawa in Miyazaki Prefecture. It is very fresh, and skilled chefs with years of experience carefully prepare it.
There were also reviews saying that Himuka Hon Saba (premium farmed mackerel), raised in the Hyuganada (Hyuga Sea), is especially good.
Photograph:navatan7
They offer everything from standard sushi to seasonal items only available at certain times of year. You write what you want to eat on a slip of paper, and they will quickly make the nigiri sushi (hand-formed sushi) for you.
Only during weekday lunch hours, they also offer sets with nigiri sushi and tempura or Kara-age. These sets are popular for being tasty and filling.

It looks like they source a lot of ingredients from nearby Kitaura Gyoko (Kitaura Fishing Port). The sushi gozen (set meal) lunch comes with 9 pieces of sushi, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), ara-jiru (fish scrap soup), and dessert for JPY1490 + Himuka no Honsaba + squid for JPY2250. Since they also serve my favorite Himuka no Honsaba, I make sure to order it every time! lol. I think this price for this quality is a steal!

オメアテ
At Kadokawa, you can eat raw Himuka honsaba (Himuka chub mackerel). Since the Bungo Channel is the mecca of seki-saba (brand mackerel from Oita), the mackerel raised in its fast currents are free of parasites. That is probably because they are caught in one of the few fishing grounds where they can be eaten raw. I have never seen it at Kandagawa farther south. It is like otoro (fatty tuna belly) with a firm, crunchy bite, and both the fat and flavor are about as good as it gets!
