The “goya (bitter melon) tempura” includes goya, an Okinawan vegetable, along with a special soy sauce tare and freshly shaved katsuobushi (bonito flakes).
Frying the goya makes its distinctive bitterness a bit milder, and the light crisp texture is also said to be very good.

・Shima dofu (Okinawan tofu) atsuyage (deep-fried tofu) with abura miso (savory miso cooked in oil)
The abura miso is fairly rich, and the shima dofu atsuyage balances it out nicely, adding extra good flavor while keeping Pota-ma’s original taste intact. At first, I thought, “If they put tofu in it, won’t that water down the overall flavor?” but the abura miso makes up for that. I’m glad I got to discover something new.

・Goya (bitter melon) tempura and lemon sanpin-cha (jasmine tea)
Speaking of Okinawa, it has to be goya! Frying it makes the bitterness much milder, so it is not bitter at all. It goes really well with the light soy-based sauce! This sauce soaks into the rice too, and tastes great〜♡ The refreshing lemon sanpin-cha cuts through the oiliness of the tempura. As I left, I was already thinking maybe I should get the shima-miso (island miso) next time.

For the rice in the onigiri, you can choose either genmai (brown rice) or white rice. The genmai in the "Oni-Po" shown in the photo is said to have a nice slightly chewy texture and a toasty flavor.
"Oni-Po" gets its name from "oni" from onigiri and "po" from pork.

The "W Pork & Tamago Oni-Po" is a simple yet filling menu item. The salty, meaty flavor of the Spam is mellowed by the tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet).
The menu also includes oni-po with added twists such as tacos and goma kombu kelp.

I stopped by for a light bite before heading to Shurijo (Shuri Castle). It’s what you’d call a pork omusubi (rice ball), and it’s really good. The fillings are nice, of course, but the combo of genmai (brown rice) rice—white rice is also available—and tasty nori (seaweed) is the best ❣️There’s a bit of an uphill walk to Shurijo Koen (Shuri Castle Park), so this is the perfect place to fill up on food and drinks before going ❕The people at the shop are kind too.

The signature menu item is pork tamago onigiri (rice ball with pork and egg), an Okinawan soul food also known as "onipo," and it is served warm because they make it to order. It's nice that you can choose either white rice or brown rice. You can also enjoy Okinawa-style fillings such as tacos and goya champuru (bitter melon stir-fry).

I had cream cheese with ooba (shiso leaves) marinated in soy sauce and pork soboro (seasoned minced pork) with egg yolk‼️It was way too goodーーー.Each onigiri (rice ball) is really big, and they fill the soup to the brim, so you end up super full! There are also extra-charge fillings, so it’s fun to get creative with how you order

Eating Pleasure
I was expecting the usual pork tamago (pork and egg), but this came in a way that made me think, so that's how they do it. The cream cheese and the egg yolk marinated in soy sauce are tasty too. Even just 2 onigiri (rice balls) are enough to feel Manpuku. I’ll come back again when I’m craving onigiri. It might be good for breakfast too.

I ordered the niku miso (seasoned meat miso) po-tama with a cheese topping, and the shiso (perilla) and takuan (pickled daikon) po-tama with a ume sauce topping. These are combinations you do not often find at other shops, but both went really well together, and the match was surprisingly good and very tasty.
