Teppan-yaki Asahi

"Teppan-yaki Asahi" is a restaurant located near Ikebukuro Station's East Exit, in the basement of a commercial building in front of the station. It is a Teppan-yaki restaurant that is by reservation only for both lunch and dinner.

The glamorous interior has only a long counter facing the iron griddle. From any seat, you can enjoy the live feel of Teppan-yaki.

There are several courses centered on steaks of Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu). The course that lets you compare Tenderloin and Strip loin is popular.

You can also find rare branded beef such as Ozaki Gyu (Ozaki Beef) and Yamagata Gyu (Yamagata Beef). The specific Kuroge Wagyu brand seems to change depending on the day.

The chefs’ skillful performance is also part of the appeal, from the finishing flambé on the steak to the omelet prepared on the Teppan-yaki.

The course is well balanced overall, with seasonal vegetables and seafood throughout. They also offer a good selection of alcohol, including wines that pair well with the food.

ikuhime

For the main, the Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu) steak lets you compare Miyagi fillet and Oita Strip loin. I asked for medium well, but it was unbelievably tender and really surprised me!!(They say medium rare is the recommended doneness.) The flambé presentation is a must on video. It is a fitting performance for the climax and makes the meal even more fun.

Teppan-yaki Diner JAKEN Ikebukuro Honten

Teppan Diner JAKEN Ikebukuro Honten is a Teppan-yaki restaurant located about a 6-minute walk from the East Exit of Ikebukuro Station, along Higashi-dori. It mainly serves steak, and you can also enjoy dishes like okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake).

The interior mixes the solid feel of stonework with a casual vibe. The 1st floor has counter seats, and the 2nd floor has table seating for groups.

For the Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black beef) steak, you can order from 100g in 50g increments. You can also choose the cut, such as Tenderloin, Chateaubriand, or round.

If you sit at the counter seats facing the Teppan-yaki grill, watching the steak cook right in front of you is said to be part of the fun.

The restaurant takes its name from “jaken,” a word from Hiroshima, the owner’s hometown. They also offer a course that lets you finish your meal with Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki (savory pancake), a local specialty.

There are several courses available, and along with steak you can also enjoy French foie gras. Everything is said to taste outstanding.

The steaks and okonomiyaki, grilled by the chef right in front of you on the Teppan-yaki grill, were fragrant and really let the meat's flavor shine through. The piping hot Teppan-yaki dishes were fun to look at and paired well with beer and wine. The restaurant had a lively, casual atmosphere, and the staff were easygoing and friendly.

It was a JPY5500 course, and not only was the food great, but the timing of each dish and the staff's service also made this a place I’d want to visit again! The meal ended with okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), so I left feeling full. The portion size was just right.

Amon Yoko

Amon Yoko is a restaurant near the Ikebukuro 2-chome intersection, next to Sumibi Yakiniku Amon. In a luxurious setting, you can enjoy steaks made with high quality meat.

The restaurant has counter seating only, with an irori (traditional Japanese hearth). Another draw is being close to the owner, so you can enjoy conversation while you dine.

The steaks are cooked in a special ro-gama (hearth oven), slowly bringing chunks of meat to temperature by repeating cycles of heating and resting. A key feature is the final step, where they burn straw all at once to give the meat a smoky, almost smoked aroma.

The brand of beef changes depending on the day, but they use Special selected Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black beef).

Some courses also include vegetables and other items grilled over premium Binchotan (high-grade charcoal) set in an irori (sunken hearth). Since they are grilled right in front of you, you can also enjoy the aroma and watching the ingredients change.

The courses are said to be well regarded for their skillful use of high-end ingredients such as suppon (soft-shelled turtle), uni (sea urchin), and caviar.

エマール

And then the Chateaubriand steak. When I took a bite of the meat, finished with the aroma of smoked wara (straw) while the meat was rested, it was packed with rich aroma and umami in tender fibers that seemed to melt away. It was served with salt, soy sauce powder, wasabi, and whole grain mustard to bring out the flavor of the meat even more. What should I do. It is so good I never want it to end.

It was my first visit. From the moment I walked in, the refined atmosphere was fantastic. I went with the course menu, and the chef explained the authentic vegetables and meat in advance. Needless to say, the dishes after cooking were also outstanding, so you should definitely give this place a try.

Ikebukuro Otona no Hamburger Steak

Otona no Hamburger Steak in Ikebukuro is located about a 1-minute walk from the East Exit of Ikebukuro Station. You can casually enjoy Hamburger Steak and steak made with carefully selected meat.

The warm interior makes you forget the bustle of Ikebukuro. The first floor has counter seating, and the second floor has calm table seating.

Both the Hamburger Steak and steak made with kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black beef) are popular for letting you really taste the meat’s rich flavor.

The A4 and A5 rank kuroge Wagyu steaks are available in limited quantities. They come with an original sauce, but they are also said to taste great with wasabi as an accent.

A popular choice is the "Half & Half," which lets you enjoy both Hamburger Steak and steak. The Hamburger Steak pairs well with the restaurant's original sauce made with a soy sauce and red wine base.

They also offer wines selected for Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black cattle), as well as wines that pair well with Hamburger Steak, so at dinner you can enjoy them together with the meat dishes.

美味しい弁護士

The premium steak set (150g) is served piping hot. It is a lean red meat steak. Because it is lean meat, it does not feel very fatty, and it gives you that hearty sense of really eating meat. The special sauce is also rich, and it pairs well with the steak. Simple and easy to understand, it is a steak with a strong meaty character.

You can enjoy steak made with prime grade beef, the highest rank under American standards. They say you can choose from six levels of doneness, from rare to very well done.

One highlight is that you can also choose one sauce from six options, including onion, Baga, and wasabi shoyu (soy sauce with wasabi). You can enjoy it with your preferred doneness and sauce.

I enjoyed both Okinawa ryori (Okinawan cuisine) and steak here, and everything was carefully prepared and very good. The meat in particular was juicy and satisfying, and the side menu was also extensive, making this a highly Manzoku restaurant. The interior had a calm atmosphere and was comfortable to spend time in, which made it nice to relax and enjoy the meal. I would like to visit again!

I love steak, especially Top blade steak. Even though it is a rare cut, it is easy on the wallet◎ and very tender◎ The wasabi soy sauce is the best (they also have a wide variety of sauces◎). The place had a calm atmosphere and was not crowded, so I could relax and take my time (I came back again that same night).

One more draw is the wide selection of alcoholic drinks. They say you can enjoy carefully chosen labels of craft beer, wine, Japanese sake, shochu, and more.

レイミ98

All the dishes use organic vegetables. The owner has put great care into creating a lineup of high quality dishes. The main meat dishes use Ozaki Gyu (premium Wagyu beef). The aged pork steak is made with Iwanaka Buta (pork), and the fat is really clean and tasty. I was surprised that even after eating as much meat as I could, I had no heavy feeling in my stomach at all the next day.

I arrived earlier than my reservation time, but they happily showed me to my table. The food was very good, and the Teppan-yaki dishes in particular were excellent. They took a little time, but I think they were worth the wait. There was also a wide selection of drinks, and I especially enjoyed the beer, including kinds you do not often find elsewhere.

Meat, meat, meat! Everything was delicious. The skirt steak was tender, the Wagyu steak was satisfyingly hearty, and the Hamburger Steak was especially meaty and went great with the wine. The meat sushi was also so good that it was hard to decide whether to share it. The interior is old, but that also adds to its unusual steakhouse-like atmosphere.

nishi39169

When you cut into the Hamburger Steak with your chopsticks, juices come pouring out! It is tender, has a very meaty texture, and tastes great. It often sells out, so if you want to try it, it is best to visit early. The steak has a type of texture where you can really feel the meat fibers, and the more you chew, the more flavor comes through. It also went well with the bold sauce.

Shigepy

You can choose from three sauces: steak sauce, grated daikon ponzu sauce, and green onion salt sauce. The Hamburger Steak is juicy and packed with meaty flavor, and it goes great with rice! It is quite filling, but the generous grated daikon ponzu sauce kept it light and tasty. The steak and the Outside skirt were both tender and delicious--

UCグルメ

The signature beef steak looks amazing first of all✨They use Special lean beef from Australia, so even though it’s steak, it has a clean bite and is very tender. It’s great with just salt and pepper, but the steak sauce is also incredibly good. It’s so tasty you could eat rice with just that alone.

TAKU

There is a huge variety of main tacos, and even the time spent choosing what to order is fun. It is a lineup taco lovers will not be able to resist. When you actually try them, the ingredient combinations and seasoning are both well done, and they go great with drinks. I also ordered a range of dishes other than tacos, and every one of them was good with no misses.

食べるぞ太郎

My favorite menu item was the Strip loin steak. It had a lot of fat, but it melted in my mouth the moment I took a bite. You dip it in sauce, but more than the flavor of the sauce, the sweetness of the meat came through on my tongue and made me feel happy. I’ll come back to have the Strip loin steak again.

We reserved seats at the counter. The person grilling for us was very easy to talk to, which made for a relaxed time. While lightly chatting with us about the meat and how to eat it, they grilled everything skillfully and smoothly. It was also nice that they could write a message on the dessert plate at the end.

We chose a course meal with abalone, but because each portion was small, even my partner, who does not eat much, finished everything. The Sendai gyu (Sendai beef) had just the right amount of marbling and was tender, and it left me wanting a little more. I had thought the fun of Teppan-yaki was watching it being cooked right in front of you at the counter, but enjoying it in a Private room while looking out at a small garden was nice too.

The seasoning on the meat and awabi (abalone) was a little on the strong side, but everything was delicious! The meat was high quality, and the awabi was so fresh it was still moving. The chef and staff were both very attentive, so I think you can use this place with confidence when entertaining guests.

This was my first visit, and I regret not coming sooner. It was very comfortable, and both the food and drinks were great. The steak in particular was outstanding. I’ve been coming to this Teppan-yaki restaurant for over 20 years. This is the place I visit for special occasions. I had half Strip loin and half Tenderloin. I was surprised by how tender the Tenderloin was. I started with draft beer, then moved on to a bottle of white wine, as usual. And to finish, garlic rice followed by dessert. The coffee at the end is incredibly good. Maybe next month will be my next visit.

Furansu-tei Ikebukuro Sunshine 60 Kaidori Ten

"Furansu-tei Ikebukuro Sunshine 60 Kaidori Ten" is a basement restaurant about a 3-minute walk from the East Exit of Ikebukuro Station. The main menu features steak and baisen curry (roasted curry).

It has a bright atmosphere, with lemon-colored walls and red sofa seating. It stays open continuously from lunch through dinner.

The signature dish is “lemon steak.” It is said to be a menu item first created around 1960 by a Western-style restaurant in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture.

Like sukiyaki, it features thinly sliced meat grilled on one side, then served on a piping hot Teppan-yaki plate. You flip the meat over yourself and squeeze lemon over it before enjoying it.

The steak has an original flavor built on a base made by slowly sauteing onions, then adding flour and roasting it.

The curry, which has kept the same flavor for 50 years, is also popular, and many people seem to enjoy both the curry and the lemon steak.

北極星ペガサス

After waiting 15〜20 minutes, the Teppan-yaki plate arrived with the steak and curry, sizzling away! The steak was only seared on one side, so they said to cook both sides before eating. So good! As expected, lemon and steak are a great match... Since it was a two-color plate, there were two kinds of meat, but I liked the lemon steak better.

I had wanted to try lemon steak after seeing it on TV, and since I was here, I ordered the curry too. First, the dressing on the salad was rich, with a flavor I had never had anywhere else, and it was very good! The curry was spicier than I expected. The lemon steak was thinly sliced, and I enjoyed its light, tasty flavor.
