Lit by warm lighting, the interior is centered around counter seating. It has a hideaway feel, and guests can enjoy food and drinks without worrying about the time.

The carefully selected Hokkaido meshi (Hokkaido cuisine) lets you fully enjoy the bounty of Hokkaido, from classic dishes centered on local ingredients to more refined plates.

The menu changes often, and depending on what comes in, they may also offer special dishes available only that day. For parties of 3 or more, advance reservations are required.

Meshiya Insuke Tanukikoji Ten

About a 6-minute walk from Odori Station. Meshiya Insuke Tanukikoji Ten is a buzzy izakaya where you can enjoy photogenic dishes.

The fully private room interior has a calm atmosphere. One of its main draws is that you can relax and enjoy your meal in a private space.

The moment it arrives, the "rokushu kaidan osashimi moriawase (six-type staircase sashimi assortment)" gets you excited.

Along with tuna, salmon, and sea bream, it also comes with hokkigai (surf clam), a Hokkaido specialty, served on a staircase-style platter. The seafood is said to be incredibly fresh and nicely plump, making beer and Japanese sake go down easy.

The "Kaisen Hoseki Glass Temaki-zushi (seafood jewel hand-rolled sushi in a glass)" is a popular menu item known for its eye-catching look.

Served in a stylish cocktail glass, it is topped with rich ingredients like maguro (tuna), ikura (salmon roe), tobiko (flying fish roe), and salmon. It is nice that you can enjoy it casually in a hand-roll style.

The performance of the seared Brisket flat sushi is sure to liven up the table too! It was my first time trying tako (octopus) with yuzukosho ponzu, and the tender octopus head, sesame oil, and the flavor of the yuzukosho ponzu went so well together that it became one of my favorite dishes. Overall, the food came out quickly, the service was good, and I’d like to come back again. I also appreciated that all seats are in Private rooms and the interior is bright and clean!

maze

This hideaway izakaya serves creative dishes based on washoku (Japanese cuisine).

The chic interior is spread across two floors, with lively counter seating on the first floor and a relaxed second floor where you can take in the night view. A great pick when you want to enjoy good food and drinks in a stylish setting!

This is their signature menu item, the "Clay Pot rice."

It is a rich version topped with plenty of roast beef over rice cooked in broth made from dried maitake (hen of the woods mushrooms) and fried gobo (burdock root). The crispy and fragrant scorched rice is said to really whet the appetite.

The menu includes items that go perfectly with drinks, such as meat wrapped skewers of shallots, spring rolls with mackerel, and kamo-negi (duck and green onion).

The "Komi Yasai to Yodare-dori" topped generously with myoga (Japanese ginger) and oba (perilla leaves) is said to be so good you cannot stop eating, with the sharp heat of sansho (Japanese pepper) adding a nice accent.

タノン

Not only was the quality of the food great, but the stylish presentation also made it a feast for the eyes. The atmosphere inside is calm and refined, so it is perfect for a date. Even though it is an izakaya (Japanese pub), it does not feel too casual, and the space has a Special feel to it.

ガリちゃん(ガリガリではない)

This stylish restaurant is set in a standalone house. The atmosphere inside is great, and even though it is in the busy center of Susukino, you can relax and enjoy a nice escape from the everyday. They also have a wide selection of drinks, and I got to enjoy various craft gins. The food was also very good, and the bacon skewer my friend recommended was especially tasty!(It was completely different from the kind of bacon skewer I had imagined, in a good way)

Jiki Minami 2-jo Ten

Jiki Minami 2-jo Ten is about a 12-minute walk from Odori Station. This popular izakaya (Japanese-style pub) serves authentic charcoal grilled yakitori (grilled chicken skewers).

The unfinished concrete interior has a modern, stylish feel. The tables are well spaced, so you can enjoy your meal without worrying about the next table over.

The yakitori made with Gitaro Shamo (gamefowl) is prepared by butchering each whole bird one by one, so you can enjoy around 10 different cuts.

The charcoal grilled yakitori is slowly cooked over binchotan (high grade charcoal), and the more you chew, the more flavor fills your mouth. The “tsukune (chicken meatball)” in the photo is said to become richer and even more flavorful when dipped in egg yolk.

Some people visit just for the authentic handmade soba.

The mori-soba in the photo is said to be so good that you can keep eating it even when you're full. It also pairs well with Japanese sake, and you can enjoy comparing flavors with condiments like wasabi and salt.

They had a variety of rare cuts, and it was fun to taste how each one had a different flavor. Everything was delicious, but the kata-niku (shoulder meat) and sei-niku (standard meat cut) were especially good! The staff member in charge of grilling was very kind, and I had a comfortable meal.

Hamakko Tokeidai Ten

About a 3-minute walk from Odori Station. This izakaya lets you enjoy à la carte dishes made with ingredients shipped directly from Haborocho (Haboro) and Hokkaido gourmet food.

The restaurant has a homey atmosphere, with counter seats, table seats, and koagari (raised tatami seating), so you can relax and take your time.

The most popular item, kaki dengaku (oysters with sweet miso), is an excellent dish where the oysters’ creamy umami pairs perfectly with the salty sweet miso.

It is so good that many people order another serving. Since it takes time to prepare, it is best to order it early.

Another dish you should definitely try is the "sashimi assortment," where you can enjoy seafood unique to Hokkaido (northern Japan).

One big draw is that you can enjoy very fresh Atka mackerel, kazunoko (herring roe), salmon, tuna, and more at relatively reasonable prices. The contents of the assortment also change with the seasons.

I had a course meal that let me fully enjoy Hokkaido. It included sashimi, shiokara jaga butter (potato with salted seafood and butter), hokke (Atka mackerel), and more. Everything had a decent portion size, and it really gave me the feeling of being in Hokkaido. They also had two kinds of Hokkaido Japanese sake, and I alternated between them and got pleasantly tipsy.

I’ve visited several times, and it’s been great every time. There are of course plenty of cheap yakitori places, but once in a while, it’s nice to enjoy carefully prepared food in a stylish space like this. The sanma (Pacific saury) skewer included in the course this time was absolutely delicious.

It was stylish and relaxing, and I was glad I chose this place. We ordered a lot of dishes all at once, but they came out at just the right pace, and we enjoyed them with Japanese sake. I’d like to come again.

A place you might stop by for the ate (small dishes to go with drinks) alone. Drop in casually and have a Quick Drink at the counter. They have a wide selection of Japanese sake, including Kunimare. You can enjoy it nicely served in a wine glass. Every a la carte dish is appealing, and everything from the assortment to the tokibi (corn) tempura is delicious. The beer here was also great, and the server was clearly well cleaned, so there was no odd bitterness and I could enjoy it with no complaints.

Marugoto Hokkaido Hana no Mai Sapporo Kita 2-jo Ten

This izakaya lets you enjoy Hokkaido gourmet, including fresh seafood. It is a 6-minute walk from Odori Station.

The spacious interior has a casual feel. It is well known for having many Private room options that can be used for different group sizes, making it very convenient.

The "zuwaigani (snow crab) tōban-mushi (steamed on a ceramic plate)" is a dish made with generous amounts of snow crab and pairs well with Japanese sake.

The snow crab, packed with rich umami, is said to be so good that it makes you forget to talk while eating. It is quite filling, so you can either share it with everyone or enjoy a blissful moment all to yourself.

The "Umi no Sachi Sashimi Assortment 5-ten Assortment" is recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy seafood from Hokkaido.

It comes with condiments and soy sauce made with broth from kettle-boiled Hidaka kombu kelp, wasabi sesame, and salt, so you can enjoy changing up the flavors as you eat. The contents of the assortment change depending on what is available that day.

The hokke hiraki (split open Atka mackerel) was rich with fat, with plump flesh that practically melted in the mouth and tasted amazing, and the grilled sake harasu (salmon belly) was also nicely fatty with a good salty kick and was delicious(✯ᴗ✯)The lamb Teppan-yaki had a sauce that soaked in well, tasted great with rice, and was delicious, and the Sapporo ramen salad was, as expected, a salad with a real ramen-like feel and was very tasty(*´ω`*)

Hana no Mai is everywhere, but this is the first time I’ve seen Marugoto Hokkaido! Just like the name says, it’s packed with all the flavors of Hokkaido (Japan’s northern island)!! They also have lots of Hokkaido sake!! The madachi (soft roe) was really good〜!! A great place where you can enjoy all kinds of Hokkaido food at low prices!

Hineri Jaguchi Hai Taishu Shusen Terumae Sapporo Susukino Izumi

This is a new-style izakaya (Japanese pub) with great entertainment value, located a 6-minute walk from Odori Station.

Inside, the space features retro sento (public bathhouse)-style decor. It has a nostalgic feel and is said to be so comfortable that you will want to stay for hours.

You can enjoy the unique experience of pouring drinks from taps installed all across one wall.

The customizable Jaguchi High has a wide variety of options, and being able to choose one to match your food is part of its appeal. With All you can drink, where you can enjoy as much as you like of what you like, it is perfect when you want to grab a quick drink!

The menu offers a wide range of options, from snacks that are perfect for a Quick Drink to à la carte dishes made with seasonal ingredients.

The small, reasonably sized snacks, such as the house specialty "chibi xiaolongbao (small soup dumplings)" and the "Terumae Kushi" named after the restaurant, are said to be a great choice when you want to try a little of many different dishes.

The drink selection is extensive, and considering the prices, it feels like a great deal. The food is simple, but the overall balance is enough to leave you fully Manzoku. The crowd is relatively young and lively, and the drum can-style chairs are a unique touch you only find at this kind of place. I think this restaurant is perfect for people who care most about price.

The all you can drink from the tap was great. The kushiyaki (grilled skewers) and xiaolongbao were cheap and tasty during happy hour. I had thought Thermae was only in Hokkaido, but I found out they also have locations in the Kanto area. It is a place I want to come back to again and again anytime, and everything was very good.
