Komondokoro Mitsukuni Ura Namba Ten is on the second floor of a building about a 4-minute walk from Namba Station. This hideaway restaurant lets you enjoy Osaka's famous okonomiyaki (savory pancake) and Tokyo's famous monjayaki (pan-fried batter).

The interior has a calm Japanese feel, and all seats are Sunken kotatsu seating. You can relax and enjoy your meal here.

A key feature here is the focus on ingredients, including 100% Special Domestic wheat, seasonal vegetables, and Kyoto-style bonito stock. It is cooked to bring out a light, airy texture, then served on the Teppan-yaki griddle right in front of you.

The "okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) Kaisen Special" is a popular dish topped with plenty of large shrimp, scallops, and squid.

One of the best things about monjayaki (savory pan-fried batter) is the live feeling of having it cooked right in front of you. They offer a wide range of variations, from Japanese style to Western style.

The photo shows the "Gratin Monja," which is said to have great seafood flavor and a rich cheese sauce. It also pairs perfectly with red wine.

ちゅん5775

The specialty monjayaki has some unique options like shiromiso (white miso) cream cheese and Italian style, and each one really brings out the flavor of the ingredients. The okonomiyaki is made with 100% Domestic wheat and comes out light and fluffy. The aroma of Kyoto style dashi spreads through each bite, giving it a refined, deep flavor. The wine selection is also extensive, with the appeal of choosing from more than 20 varieties.

The okonomiyaki comes loaded with so much super fresh seafood you might think there’s no way you can finish it. The batter is light and fluffy, and it tastes amazing! The best thing today was monjayaki! It was even better than I expected, and maybe it was basil? Mixed with the rich flavor of the batter, it had a kind of deliciousness I’d never tasted before!

Hozenji Sanpei

Hozenji Sanpei is popular for its okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) with a light, airy batter. It is located in Hozenji Yokocho, about a 5-minute walk from Namba Station, in an area lined with eateries that have long been loved by the people of Osaka.

They bring over the freshly cooked okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) and place it on the Teppan-yaki griddle in front of you. If you want to enjoy watching it cook slowly, the counter seats are recommended.

The size may be on the smaller side, but it is packed with ingredients and said to be highly satisfying.

A popular combination of fillings is tendon, green onion, and konnyaku (yam cake). This okonomiyaki lets you enjoy the taste of Osaka, with simmered tendon cooked until tender.

They also offer many other combinations, so it is a good place to order a few and share with everyone.

しょう隊長

The most popular dishes are okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) and yakisoba (fried noodles). The okonomiyaki is fluffy and tasty. The fillings are tender and really good too. The yakisoba also has a lot more flavor than the kind in Kanto. Rather than tasting like sauce, it brings out the good flavors of the noodles and ingredients♪

Today I was craving yakisoba (Japanese fried noodles), so I looked around the Minami area and came here to Hozenji Sanpei! Luckily, there was no line! The okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), yakisoba, and tonpeiyaki (pork omelet) were all delicious! Also, the speed of service was amazing!

AT THE 21 namba

AT THE 21 namba serves okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) made with carefully selected dashi broth and ingredients. The interior has a stylish, cafe-like atmosphere, with table seating.

It stands quietly on Akaura-suji in the Sennichimae area, about a 5-minute walk from Namba Station.

A key feature here is that they serve the freshly cooked okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) on a Teppan-yaki plate. You can enjoy it piping hot to the very last bite. The stylish mayonnaise finish is another nice touch.

It is said to be cooked with a crisp surface and a soft, melty inside, and the ingredients are large and tasty too. The simple “okonomiyaki (pork)” is the most popular choice.

They also offer a wide selection of filling modan-yaki (Japanese savory pancake topped with fried noodles and egg). The photo shows their most popular item, the "Buta Modan-yaki".

People say this restaurant stands out not only for how good the food tastes, but also for its unique presentation, like the way the mayonnaise is drizzled and the toothpick with a small national flag used as decoration.

I had okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) for lunch. It was light and fluffy and had good volume, and the toasty aroma of the sauce really whets your appetite. It was packed with ingredients too, and I felt very Manzoku. There is also a set with miso soup and rice, and it is just the right portion for lunch.

Next came the Buta Modan. The well grilled pork belly was crisp and fragrant on the outside, and juicy inside. The thin yakisoba noodles blended well with the batter, and together with the sweet and savory sauce, it had a flavor that showed the magic of the Teppan-yaki. With every bite, I couldn't help but be impressed by the depth of Osaka's konamon (flour-based dishes) culture.

Okonomiyaki Mon

Okonomiyaki Mon is on the third floor of a building next to Namba Center-gai Shopping Street, about a 5-minute walk from Namba Station. This popular spot serves okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) along with a wide range of Teppan-yaki dishes that go well with drinks.

The interior has a cozy Japanese feel. There are counter and table seats.

One of the best things about the counter seats is that you can watch the food being cooked. At the table seats, they serve the freshly grilled items on the Teppan-yaki griddle right in front of you.

The most popular okonomiyaki is the classic "Buta-tama," made with pork. The fluffy batter is packed with yamaimo (Japanese mountain yam), and it's said to be excellent.

They are also known for their tasty negiyaki (green onion pancake), a dish similar to okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake). Unlike okonomiyaki, which uses cabbage, it is grilled with plenty of green onions.

A particularly popular filling is "sujikon negi." The rich flavor of tendon, the texture of konnyaku (yam cake), and the aroma of the green onions go together really well.

aldh273

It’s an okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) restaurant, but they also have plenty of appetizers beyond flour-based dishes. The omu-soba (omelet yakisoba) is huge! I’m happy that even if you eat and drink until you’re completely full, it’s still reasonably priced.

Thinking Osaka meant konamono (flour-based dishes), I made a reservation before going. I really enjoyed the negiyaki (green onion pancake), okonomiyaki (savory pancake), and ikayaki (grilled squid) as well, and they were all very tasty.

Tsuruhashi Fugetsu Dotonbori Ebisubashi Ten

Tsuruhashi Fugetsu Dotonbori Ebisubashi Ten is on the 3rd floor of a building along the Dotonbori Shotengai (Dotonbori shopping street), just a 3-minute walk from Namba Station and right by Ebisubashi Bridge. It is one location of a long-running okonomiyaki chain that started in Osaka's Tsuruhashi area.

The spacious interior has partitions between the tables, so you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed setting.

The staff carefully cooks it for you on the Teppan-yaki grill right in front of you, so you can relax even if you do not know how to cook okonomiyaki (savory pancake).

They use plenty of cabbage and cook it so the inside stays light and the outside turns crisp, then finish it with their house-made sauce that they have used since the restaurant first opened. They leave it on the Teppan-yaki grill, so you can cut it with a teko (small spatula) and eat it piping hot.

The popular "Fugetsu-yaki" is the signature menu item, made with squid, shrimp, pork, and beef. The menu is extensive, so you can choose whatever suits your mood.

The "Chi-tama-buta-dama," where you can enjoy gooey cheese, and the "Buta-dama Modern," a modan-yaki (savory pancake with noodles) with boiled noodles layered between the batter, are both said to be very good.

• Fugetsu-yaki modan (Fugetsu-style modern okonomiyaki)
I like Fugetsu's egg noodles, so I always order modan-yaki (okonomiyaki with noodles). The staff carefully cook it for you and take their time. At the end, they brush on mayonnaise and sauce, and it's done! I sprinkled on a little aonori (green laver) from the table and enjoyed it piping hot. Delicious!

They cook it for you... so nice. And I used to think konamon (flour-based dishes) was super salty and heavy, but the Fugetsu-yaki is mostly vegetables and doesn’t feel like konamon at all! Since it uses very little binder, it turns out light and airy, and the beef tendon adds both great flavor and a nice textural accent, making it incredibly delicious!!

The negi-yaki (green onion pancake) is grilled until crisp in sesame oil, which adds a nice toasted aroma, and it has a slightly chewy texture. Everything was delicious.

It apparently comes with all the fillings, and the seafood flavor from the ika (squid) and shrimp really stands out, making it very tasty♪♪ The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) is nice and fluffy, and the sweetness of the cabbage comes through too, which makes it great! I also liked the sweet and savory simmered konnyaku (yam cake) filling♡

It has a light texture but still feels satisfyingly substantial, and people say it tastes great. You can also choose the fillings, and the recommended option is beef tendon.

マッハのオススメごはん

First, I went with a simple buta-dama (pork okonomiyaki). The egg based batter has a nice springy texture. The finely chopped cabbage is pleasantly crisp. It is okonomiyaki just like the textbook example.

The signature items are, of course, okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) and negiyaki (green onion pancake). They are crisp and fragrant on the outside and light and soft inside, with an excellent balance that is neither too heavy nor too light. The negiyaki in particular keeps a nice crisp texture while still blending smoothly with the batter.

The restaurant also offers a wide range of well-reviewed creative dishes.

9919bd

The interior is a little on the dim side, so you can relax and take your time. They say the okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) with tomato is famous, but I went with the regular one. The okonomiyaki had a light, fluffy batter with plenty of ingredients left nicely intact, and it was very delicious.

gunbo583

The restaurant’s signature dish is tomato okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake). The base is definitely Kyo-fu okonomiyaki (Kyoto-style savory Japanese pancake). On top of that, they pour plenty of sauce with tomato in it. It’s surprisingly good. It’s not Osaka-style okonomiyaki, but it’s tasty in its own way. Either way, it goes great with drinks.

The signature "Hamburger Steak," available only while supplies last, is also very popular. They carefully and slowly grill hand-kneaded meat with no binders on a Teppan-yaki griddle.

It is tender, of course, and well seasoned with spices, so it is said to taste great even without sauce. It is recommended as a side menu item to go with okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake).

ann382

The okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) was light and fluffy, with plenty of fillings. I especially got hooked on the cheese one because it was so rich. The All you can drink menu also had a wide selection, and since the place stays open late into the night, it seems like a good option for a second stop or To finish. It had a casual atmosphere that made it easy to drop by with friends.

I had buta-tama (pork okonomiyaki) and suji-negi (beef tendon and green onion okonomiyaki) as the mains. Including the side dishes, the buta-tama was by far the best thing I had. We ordered octopus with shio ponzu and Kobe Nagata-yaki (Kobe-style savory pancake) Gorgeous. The octopus was large and delicious, using octopus from Akashi, and the Gorgeous-yaki was also very good, with both the shrimp and octopus nice and large. When we looked around restlessly for a floor staff member to place our order, someone from the kitchen also called out to us, and they carefully explained the recommendations, which was really nice.

It seems to be a kind of okonomiyaki that originated in Kyoto, and I actually saw it when I went to Kyoto recently. We drank beer from the middle of the day and got tipsy. The okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) has a light and fluffy batter, and the dashi (Japanese soup stock) really comes through, making it very tasty. It also has plenty of cabbage, giving it a nice crisp bite, so you can enjoy that fluffy-crisp texture! The portion is standard, and with the lunchtime service of rice, miso soup, and pickles, it becomes just the right amount. With the feel of a classic downtown konamon (flour-based comfort food) shop, it is easy to see why this popular spot has earned its reputation.

Hanamaru Tei Yodoyabashi Ten

Hanamarutei Yodoyabashi Ten is a restaurant where you can enjoy okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) and Teppan-yaki made with Domestic ingredients. It is located along Uchikitahama-dori, a 3-minute walk from Yodoyabashi Station.

The interior has a calm Japanese modern feel, with lively counter seats and relaxed table seating where you can unwind.

The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) is said to be packed with ingredients and cooked crisp on the outside and light and fluffy inside.

Recommended options include the "Gyukasu no Okonomiyaki," where you can enjoy the rich flavor of Wagyu beef cracklings, and the "Takotama," which comes with big, plump pieces of octopus. You can also order extra toppings such as mochi (rice cake) and cheese.

They offer three different courses that let you enjoy a variety of dishes, including okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake). Each comes with All you can drink, which is great for people who enjoy alcohol, and it has a reputation for being a good deal that leaves you feeling Manzoku.

The yakisoba (fried noodles) served at the end of every course is very filling, and the noodles are said to be especially good.

えびちり

Ice cold beer goes great with the salad loaded with dressing. The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) was crisp on the outside and light inside, with the kind of good taste you expect from the real deal. Everything was tasty, but the atsuyage (deep-fried tofu) was soft and melty, with a flavor that felt like a first for me, and it paired well with crisp Japanese sake.

A slightly retro feel inside the restaurant! Starting with the top ranked items, we ordered a whole spread, from okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) to Pork and Cabbage Omelette, tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette), edamame, simmered beef tendon, gyoza, yamaimo-yaki (grilled Japanese yam), and more! The okonomiyaki wasn’t too heavy, and we could eat it in a few bites! We had a casual, tasty, and fun time!

Okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) Den

Okonomiyaki Den, a 2-minute walk from Exit 2 of Hanazonocho Station, is a downtown okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) restaurant that is popular for being easy to stop by after sightseeing at Osaka’s famous landmark, Tsutenkaku.

The interior has a calm retro feel and is equipped with Semi-private room-style box seats.

One thing that sets this place apart is its use of fresh vegetables sourced directly from farmers. The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) has a light texture that lets you fully enjoy the natural sweetness of the cabbage, and it gets great reviews for its taste.

The "Den Special" is a filling recommended item packed with plenty of ingredients such as pork belly, squid, and shrimp.

The yakisoba made with specially selected nama-men (fresh noodles) gets good reviews as well. You can also order a Large size or switch to udon.

The especially popular item is the “Dotonbori yakisoba,” made with extra-thick noodles like udon. The chewy noodles are coated with dashi broth and a rich sauce, and it is said to be excellent. The photo shows it topped with a fried egg.

マッハのオススメごはん

I went with the deliberately simple buta-tama (pork okonomiyaki). You can really taste the good flavor of the pork fat, and the finely chopped cabbage stays crisp with just the right amount of moisture. No surprise that it turns out so juicy. By the way, in winter they use Senshu (a region in Osaka)'s "Matsunami Cabbage," which is said to make it even better. Even okonomiyaki has a peak season. That was a new discovery.

おメン

We ordered the Den Special, tororo-yaki (grated yam pancake), pork and bean sprouts with ponzu sauce, and negi-yaki (green onion pancake). As expected from a famous restaurant. I was seriously impressed. I couldn't stop eating or drinking beer. The staff are friendly too, and I can see why locals have kept loving this place. I’ll definitely go again the next time I’m in Osaka!

Okonomiyaki Teppan-yaki Tsukamoto

Okonomiyaki Teppan-yaki Tsukamoto, about a 3-minute walk from the west exit of Tsukamoto Station, is a beloved local okonomiyaki restaurant with a warm downtown feel.

The interior has a calm, homey atmosphere, with counter and table seating. Since it is a popular spot, making a reservation is recommended.

The counter seats are appealing because you can watch the cooking. At the table seats, they serve the freshly grilled dishes on the Teppan-yaki griddle right in front of you.

The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) decorated with beautiful mayonnaise art is also said to taste great with no complaints. It is said to be crisp on the outside and light on the inside.

They also offer a good value course where you can enjoy Teppan-yaki dishes including okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake). You can add All you can drink for an extra charge, so this is a good pick for people who want to enjoy plenty of drinks as well.

The course is said to be very satisfying, with not only the classic yakisoba (fried noodles) but even Strip loin steak included.

食道一直線

We had tonpeiyaki (grilled pork and egg pancake), yakisoba with abura-kasu (fried beef offal), and butatama (pork okonomiyaki). The portions are on the small side, but the quality is high. The drinks served in ice-cold mugs are also GOOD.

I had the mixed okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake). It had a crisp texture and was very tasty. I also had the sujikon (beef tendon and konnyaku stew). The tendon was tender and melty, and it was very good. I’ll be back.
