After the Obon festival, signs advertising "Mushrooms Matsutake" can be seen all over the city. Freshly picked wild matsutake and other rare mushrooms are lined up at direct sales stores. Ueda City is one of the leading matsutake producing areas in Japan, and around Shiodaira, there are shops called "matsutake huts" that open for a limited time, where you can enjoy the luxurious taste of autumn for a short period of time.
