The coffee at Cafe Miel uses carefully selected house-roasted beans. In particular, the single-origin coffee is said to have no off flavors and a very rich aroma.
There are four ways to brew the coffee: tea strainer, siphon, drip, and Clever Dripper (iced).

The photo shows their popular menu item, the hot sandwich. The crisp toasted bread is a perfect match with fillings like egg with a nice kick of black pepper and ham.
They also have sweets that go perfectly with coffee, such as tiramisu and cheesecake.

They offer single-origin coffee, and the atmosphere inside is really nice, so I had a great time. You can also buy beans at the coffee bean shop right nearby, and if there is anything that catches your eye, they will let you sample it.

KING KAZU 629
The lighting is slightly dim, and the place is full of a nostalgic atmosphere. This time, I had the Miel Blend, named after the shop, and a hot sandwich. I do not know much about coffee, but it was so good that even I could clearly tell the difference. The hot sandwiches (ham and cheese, and egg mustard) were also perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of salt.

This historic kissaten (traditional Japanese coffee shop) has been in business for over 40 years. The interior has a solid, classic feel, making it perfect for fans of retro cafes.
It is located a 2-minute walk from Kushida Jinja Mae Station. There are counter and table seats, so you can enjoy a relaxing time in its retro atmosphere.
At Kohakukan, you can enjoy Western-style dishes such as pasta, pilaf, and curry. The photo shows their classic Napolitan.
The sweetness and tang of the ketchup pair in perfect harmony with the generous amount of ingredients.

The "katsu curry" in the photo has a mild hint of spice and a deep, rich flavor.
Another draw is the wide lineup, from the classic "rice curry" to the original "gyudon (beef bowl) curry."

This time, I went with the cutlet curry and Bolognese. The cutlet was thick and satisfying, and the curry was spicy with a nice kick that came through afterward, making it very delicious. Very filling! The Bolognese had a Homemade-style meat sauce, and this one had a comforting taste.

・Iced coffee
The aroma of the carefully brewed beans gently rose through the nose, enough to make me close my eyes without thinking. It was a cup that made me think, "This is what a kissaten (traditional Japanese coffee shop) can really do." Inside, retro music played softly, and the antique interior made you feel the sounds of another era. The staff's calm service was lovely too, and even their tone of voice and manner had the grace of a long-established shop.

Many reviews also said the toast menu is just the right portion size for Breakfast.

Tasty curry and after meal coffee. This is a really nice place where you can soak in the atmosphere of a retro kissaten (Japanese-style coffee shop) while listening to Beatles songs. This time I had plenty of time, so I ordered the Large size beef curry set and added a blended coffee. It was as good as ever!

I decided to order the chicken cutlet curry set for JPY1000 from the menu. After a short wait, the chicken cutlet curry arrived first. The curry was a smooth, spice forward European style curry, and it went perfectly with the fukujinzuke (pickled relish).

A retro cafe in the basement of Hakata Bus Terminal. It is very convenient from Hakata Station, making it a good place to stop by while waiting for a train or bus.
Inside, the antique style lighting and interior are very stylish.
The "mikan (mandarin orange) cake" in the photo has a bright, colorful look from the cake and sauce, giving it a gorgeous presentation.

The set with the kama-yaki soufflé (oven baked soufflé) looked so good, so I shared the Double Cake (two layers) with a coworker. It looked so photo worthy. We poured on plenty of maple syrup, and it was light and fluffy and absolutely delicious.

The iced blend coffee came chilled in a silver tumbler. It had a rich aroma and deep flavor. With a nice balance of acidity and bitterness, this tasty iced coffee nicely brought out the cake’s gentle sweetness. Inside, retro furniture lines the space, and the decorations are cute.

いちごみるくジュース
I had cold brew coffee, a sandwich, and mixed pilaf! The interior was retro and cute too. It said this was Hakata’s first Dutch coffee, and since I didn’t know what Dutch coffee was, I looked it up and found that it’s coffee extracted one drop at a time over a long period with cold water, so it seems to have less caffeine. The Dutch coffee was delicious

The homemade cakes that go well with coffee are also popular. The photo shows the signature menu item, “Noda Roll.” Coffee is kneaded into both the sponge and the cream.
The fluffy sponge is not too sweet, making it perfect for dessert after a meal or as a snack.

The coffee really is good. It has a nice aroma, and a cup enjoyed in this calm space lets you relax and take a breather. And it is not just the coffee—the cakes and sandwiches are reliably tasty too. It is perfect for a light meal or a cafe visit, and no matter what you choose, you will leave feeling Manzoku.

The Clay Pot rice I had been looking forward to arrived freshly cooked, soft, and glossy. With one bite, I could really taste the natural sweetness of the rice, and it was very good. The miso soup, packed with ingredients, also had a gentle flavor that felt comforting. It paired well with the rice, and I found myself reaching for more.

・Today’s Sakamori (drinking feast) course
The real highlight is the assortment of kobachi (small side dishes). The dishes themselves are beautiful and fun to look at, and every item made me think this is what makes drinking like this so enjoyable. Another thing I loved was that the final To finish dish was Clay Pot takikomi gohan (seasoned rice cooked with ingredients). The freshly cooked white rice at lunch was also excellent, but this one at night was just as satisfying.

Blended coffee for JPY500. It had a calm atmosphere, and jazz was playing. They brew the coffee with care, so it takes a little time. The milk comes in a cream-like form, which is interesting. I was able to spend such a relaxing time there that I almost got sleepy.
