Osama no Tamago

The area around Mojiko Station is a sightseeing spot known for Mojiko Retro, where tasteful Western-style buildings line the streets. One convenient cafe to get to from Mojiko Station is Osama no Tamago.

From the open terrace seats, you can take in a panoramic view of Mojiko and the Kanmon Kaikyo (Kanmon Strait).

The photo shows the popular cafe menu item, fuwafuwa pancakes (fluffy pancakes). They have a light texture and are said to be an easy portion to enjoy not only as a snack but even after a meal.

You can also choose seasonal limited-time items and options like the pancake sandwich.

The photo shows the signature dish, "Osama no Yaki Curry (King's Baked Curry)." Yaki curry is also a local specialty of Mojiko Retro.

They say the slowly simmered curry, mild egg, and melted cheese make an excellent combination.

Everyone, including the kids, ordered one pancake each. I wondered if they would leave some, but they finished them easily because they were so good. (lol) When you shake the plate, the pancakes wobble like pudding. You can choose the syrup and other options on the order sheet.

The restaurant is close to JR Mojiko Station and sits by the waterfront, with a sweeping view of the Kanmon Kaikyo Ohashi (Kanmon Straits Bridge) and the beautiful sea in the distance. The interior has a very calm atmosphere, and besides indoor seating, you can also choose terrace seats for an even better view. I ordered their signature curry rice set, and the service was smooth and the taste was Manzoku.

Starbucks Coffee Mojiko Eki Ten

A cafe inside the JR Mojiko Station building, which is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. This historic neo-Renaissance style building has a lovely retro feel on the outside as well.

Many reviews say the building is wonderful and makes for a luxurious cafe time.

From the open terrace seats, you can enjoy drinks and sweets while looking out at the view of Mojiko Station. The tables are spaced well apart, so you can relax and take your time.

The interior, renovated from the old waiting room, is also recommended, with plenty to see such as the Kihinshitsu (VIP room) and exhibits.

Both the drink and food menus offer a wide lineup. In addition to doughnuts and cakes, the food menu also includes light meals such as sandwiches.

The "Frappuccino" topped with plenty of cream is also popular.

The Starbucks inside Mojiko Station is very modern and lovely. This time, I had a Starbucks Latte with an extra shot added. The atmosphere made it taste even better.

After passing through the ticket gate of this retro station full of charm, there was a Starbucks! I just couldn’t not go in. This retro cute shop is packed with lots of thoughtful details. I walked a lot while strolling around Mojiko (Moji Port) today, so I got a caramel macchiato. It had been a while since I last had a caramel macchiato, and it was delicious.

Blue Blue

This café is on the 1st floor of Moji Aka Renga Place, a 5-minute walk from Mojiko Station. The open terrace has sofa seating as well as tables.

The interior has the warm feel of wood, giving it a calm atmosphere.

You can enjoy cakes and parfaits made with seasonal fruit. The parfaits in particular include more than 10 options at all times, from regular favorites to seasonal limited-time offerings.

The sweet-tart fruit and gently sweet cream are said to make a perfect match.

At lunchtime, the menu with pasta, three kinds of bread, soup, and a drink is popular.

The pasta is cooked al dente, and it mixes well with the sauce, with a rich savory flavor.

・Royal mentaiko (pollock roe) cream pasta
Loaded with mentaiko. Plenty of aojiso (green perilla) too. And on top of that, lots of ikura (salmon roe). The pasta is nice and chewy. The cream sauce is on the mild side. Of course it tastes great when it’s this luxurious.

楽しい毎日

The pasta is loaded with big shrimp. The cream in the tomato sauce tones down the acidity. The pasta is cooked to just the right al dente texture, and the portion is nice and filling. For my drink, I had pineapple juice. The added purin (custard pudding) comes in a small bottle and has a rich, creamy style, with a distinctive orange tinted color.

Cafes with open terraces in Kitakyushu | Places in Kokurakita Ward

Le Pont de Fer

This open terrace café is a 7-minute walk from Tanga Station on the Kitakyushu Monorail. The terrace seating is an open space with a view over Katsuyama Koen (Katsuyama Park).

Inside, the café has a French café feel and also offers sofa seating.

The restaurant's gateau chocolat is said to have a deep, rich flavor, with chocolate that has a gentle bittersweet taste.

You can add a drink set to the cakes and breads in the shop for an extra charge. It's nice that you can choose alcohol such as sparkling wine.

The galette, made with high quality soba (buckwheat) flour kneaded into the batter, is said to be full of flavor and perfect for a light meal or lunch.

The popular "Steak Frites" comes with a boldly grilled steak and fluffy potatoes.

みるくてぃー☆”

The buckwheat flour galette with tuna was JPY913. I found a stylish cafe on my way to Kokurakita Ward Office, so I decided to stop in. Inside, they also sold bread and cakes, and the nice aroma gave the place a good feel. It had been a while since I last had a galette. I waited with a bit of excitement. The egg was soft-boiled, and the crust had a pleasantly chewy texture, which was delicious.

The rich gateau chocolate comes with vanilla ice cream that softens the chocolate’s bitterness, and the tang of the berry sauce makes it even more delicious.

Kanmiya Gen

A cafe located an 8-minute walk from JR Kokura Station. The restaurant, renovated from a 100-year-old kominka (traditional Japanese house), has a very nostalgic atmosphere.

If you choose the open terrace seating in the garden, you can enjoy charming views that change with the seasons.

The photo shows the “Minamoto no Kaoru Omatcha Gozen set.” The Japanese style sweets pair well with the matcha, which has a light pleasant bitterness, and it leaves you feeling warm and relaxed.

The cold brewed green tea in the “Tea Set” uses Ureshino-cha (green tea from Saga Prefecture).

They also serve kankoro-mochi (sweet potato rice cake), a local dish from the Goto Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture. It is said to have an addictive taste, with the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes and the deep aroma from being grilled over charcoal.

There were also reviews saying that the shaved ice made with plenty of fruit lets you fully enjoy the good taste of the season.

けいとっち

Today I had kankoro mochi (dried sweet potato rice cake) for JPY880. You grill the dried sweet potato rice cake before eating it, and I like it best when it gets a slight char. It was tasty with honey, anko (sweet red bean paste), and butter.

I ordered the Minamoto no Kaoru Matcha Set and kankoro-mochi (dried sweet potato rice cake). The kankoro-mochi is grilled before eating, so it was served piping hot and was very tasty. The matcha set is eaten by placing anko (sweet red bean paste) and dango (rice dumplings) into the monaka wafer. The matcha warabi-mochi (bracken starch jelly) and ice cream also had a rich matcha flavor and were delicious.

Burirante Rusu de Ra Runa

An open terrace cafe with a sweeping view of the city of Kokura. The terrace seats offer great visibility and an outstanding location.

There are also sofa seats, so it is perfect when you want to relax and take it easy. It is easiest to get there by car from Jono Station.

You can enjoy sweets such as cakes, along with drinks that pair well with them. The latte art is very stylish.

You can also choose the Today's dessert plate, which lets you enjoy a variety of sweets.

The photo shows the lunch menu item "Steak Rice bowl." It comes topped with Domestic Wagyu steak and plenty of colorful vegetables, making it look very appetizing.

The meat is tender and tasty, and if you squeeze some lemon over it halfway through for a change of flavor, you may find yourself finishing it in no time.

ところがどっっこい

The Hamburger Steak was so delicious. I usually like demi-glace sauce, but with shiso (perilla), lemon, and black pepper, it tasted light and fresh, and the meat was so tender that I finished it in no time...♡

Now that it’s cooler, the terrace seats sound nice for the first time in a while. This is such a lovely place no matter how many times you visit. Last time I came for lunch, so this time I tried the cafe menu from 14:00. The steak dog and hamburger were both delicious, so I recommend the cafe menu too.

Favori Puru Honten

This cafe lets you enjoy homemade sweets made with plenty of seasonal ingredients. It is about a 15-minute walk from Kutsu Station on the JR Nippo Main Line.

On days with pleasant weather, the terrace seats are recommended.

The photo shows the “FAVORI Plate,” which lets you enjoy the shop’s recommended sweets all at once. It’s nice that you can enjoy a variety of items little by little.

They say it has an elegant sweetness, and that every item tastes good without ever getting boring.

They also offer a wide lineup of seasonal limited-time menu items. The photo shows a sweets menu made with Domestic strawberries.

The rich sweetness of the cream is said to bring out the nice sweet-tart flavor of the fruit.

デブ脳

The crepe comes loaded with big strawberries. The chewy crepe is piled high with cream and ice cream! It’s topped with a sweet-tart sauce too, and it’s so good♡The strawberry tart feels extra special with sponge cake + tart crust! It also has big strawberries, so it’s really satisfying. The eat-in seats were spacious, and the parking lot was wide too, so it was very comfortable〜

I had a dessert made with plenty of ichigo (strawberries). The fresh ichigo were sweet and juicy, and the pudding in the center was smooth. The whipped cream was not too heavy either, and the overall balance was very good.
