Hozenji Sanpei

Hozenji Sanpei is a well-known Teppan-yaki restaurant in the Osaka Namba area, located in Hozenji Yokocho. You can enjoy okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) made with plenty of green onions.

It is said to be popular for its charming atmosphere, full of the feel of a back alley. The staff cook the grilled dishes for you, so you can focus on your meal and conversation.

The okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) is served with a wide range of topping combinations. According to reviews, the popular choice is "suji (stewed beef tendon), green onion, and konnyaku (yam cake)".

It features tender simmered suji and a generous mound of green onion, giving it a very Osaka-like feel. It is very filling, but it seems surprisingly light and easy to eat.

In addition to okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake), they also offer Horumon stir-fry finished with a sweet and savory special sauce, as well as Teppan-yaki centered on seafood and vegetables.

The yakisoba menu is also extensive, with options like the "mentaiko (spicy cod roe) shio butter yakisoba" loaded with butter and the "special yakisoba" packed with a wide variety of ingredients.

We started with the most popular items: beef tendon, green onions, and konnyaku (yam cake). Even though the portions were fairly large, they were not too heavy and we finished them easily. The staff grilled everything for us, so the doneness was perfect! The grilled dishes were also tasty, including shrimp with mayo and stir fried scallops and shimeji (beech mushrooms). The atmosphere at the restaurant was nice too, and we had a very enjoyable meal. It was a great meal.

First, wash down the tonpei-yaki (pan-fried pork and egg) with beer, and you will be fully in the mood. Next, choose the okonomiyaki, either the house specialty filled with slowly simmered suji (beef tendon), green onions, and konnyaku (yam cake), or the classic butatama (pork okonomiyaki). Both are finished nice and fragrant on the Teppan-yaki, simple but highly satisfying.

パン食べたいな

The number of seats is on the smaller side, and each seat is spacious, so I could relax and enjoy my meal!✨The kaisen-okonomiyaki (seafood okonomiyaki) I had been wanting to try for so long was excellent! It was so good I could have eaten any number of them! Above all, the fillings were huge and really satisfying! The tonpeiyaki (griddled pork omelet) was packed with lots of big, thick pieces of meat, and it left me completely full!

AT THE 21 namba

AT THE 21 namba is a popular spot in Namba and Sennichimae, a 5-minute walk from Namba Station, where you can enjoy hearty okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) made with careful attention to dashi stock and ingredients.

Reviews also say that not only is the food good, but the stylish atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice as well.

The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) here is made with great care in both the ingredients and the cooking method, and one of its features is that it is thicker than typical okonomiyaki.

Despite its simple appearance, one popular choice is the "Negi Suji." It is packed with sweet and savory simmered beef tendon and green onion, and its flavor goes great with alcohol.

The menu also has a wide selection of modan-yaki (savory pancake with noodles), made by adding soba noodles to okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) batter. The most popular item is the "Buta Modan-yaki."

It comes with crisp and fragrant pork belly, and the thin soba noodles blended well into the batter are said to be just right.

外食猫

This stylish restaurant offers all kinds of dishes, including okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake), modan-yaki (okonomiyaki with noodles), negi-yaki (green onion pancake), and yakisoba (fried noodles)! This time, we ordered the okonomiyaki and negi-yaki, and both were very good. The negi-yaki was light, and the okonomiyaki had a soft and fluffy batter!

The modan-yaki (modern-style okonomiyaki) had a nice kick from the mustard that made it really delicious! The Coke High was strong with whisky and paired perfectly with the okonomiyaki! The negi-yaki (green onion pancake) is also very good, so I recommend it.

Teppan-yaki Yebisu

Teppan-yaki Ebisu is a popular Teppan-yaki restaurant just steps from Osaka-Namba Station, and it is packed day after day. Their specialty is okonomiyaki-style Teppan-yaki, said to pair perfectly with drinks.

The restaurant offers a wide range of seating options for different occasions, including counter seats with a lively view of the cooking and open terrace seats with an airy feel.

Ebisu-yaki (a local Osaka downtown savory griddle dish) carries on the yoshokuyaki (Western-style griddle cooking) tradition of Osaka's old downtown areas, and is an okonomiyaki-style dish with a soy sauce base.

It is grilled with chicken tail on top, and instead of the usual sauce, it uses a special soy sauce, so it is rich without feeling too heavy and easy to eat. They also serve the classic okonomiyaki "butatama (pork and egg)."

They also offer a full lineup of casual à la carte dishes, including popular items made with Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu) ranked A5.

The “Kuroge Wagyu Steak” is said to be a dish where you can enjoy sweetness that spreads in your mouth and melt-in-your-mouth flavor. They also have a wide range of yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) dishes made with carefully selected fresh noodles.

ysz717

A place where you can enjoy Teppan-yaki and okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake). Their ebisu-yaki is interesting, kind of like something between okonomiyaki and Korean pancake. It goes without saying that having a beer while eating things like mushroom butter is going to be great, and then finishing with okonomiyaki or ebisu-yaki is great too. Isn’t that the best?

なかさん弟

This restaurant is basically a safe bet. Their specialty steak takes time to arrive because they cook it slowly, but it is tender and delicious. Osaka meibutsu (Osaka specialty) tonpeiyaki (pork and egg pancake) and okonomiyaki (savory pancake) are also very good. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

earthakira

The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) grilled on the Teppan-yaki is crisp and fragrant on the outside, and soft and fluffy inside. The sweetness of the cabbage blends perfectly with the batter, while the flavors of the sauce and katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) instantly whet your appetite. The yakisoba (fried noodles) also has firm noodles coated well with flavor, and you will not be able to stop eating until the very last bite. This is a classic Konamon (flour-based comfort food) spot that feels just like Namba, and it is easy to see why both tourists and locals love it.

In addition to okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake), I had doteyaki (beef tendon stew) and yakisoba (fried noodles), and every dish was solidly tasty. The restaurant's Osaka atmosphere and clientele really let me enjoy Osaka to the fullest. The staff are pleasant, and above all, I think it's very affordable. Being able to make a reservation is also a big plus!

・Special Buta-tama (pork okonomiyaki)
It has thick slices of pork loin and whole grain mustard sandwiched inside, with soft runny egg on top! The dense yet fluffy batter that is unique to Botejyu and the crisp texture of the cabbage are a great match! It is very filling, and another nice point is that you can enjoy changing up the flavor with 4 kinds of sauce, including sweet and spicy.

We enjoyed classic menu items like buta-dama (pork okonomiyaki), negiyaki (green onion pancake), tonpeiyaki (pork omelet), and yakisoba (fried noodles). The fluffy batter and savory sauce made everything consistently delicious, and my parents were very Manzoku too. The atmosphere had the comfort that only a long-established restaurant can offer, and it became a wonderful memory of Osaka. This is a famous restaurant that makes you want to come back again.

Okonomiyaki Mon

This is a good place in the Osaka Namba area when you want to enjoy okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) in a relaxed, homey atmosphere.

The interior is decorated with many autograph boards from famous people, and it is said to be a popular spot visited by many entertainers as well. There are 35 seats in total, with counter and table seating.

You can enjoy a wide range of Teppan-yaki dishes, starting with a rich okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) menu, as well as modan-yaki (okonomiyaki with noodles) and Hiroshima-yaki (Hiroshima-style savory pancake).

The okonomiyaki is said to have an excellent bite and great flavor. In particular, the "Buta-dama" and "Seafood Cheese" come highly recommended.

They also offer a full Teppan-yaki menu that feels easy to order, and the "tonpeiyaki (Osaka-style pork and cabbage omelet)" made without flour is perfect when you want to snack on a few light dishes.

It is one of Osaka's well-known local foods, made by wrapping stir-fried ingredients like pork and cabbage in egg. Compared with okonomiyaki (savory pancake), it feels more like a side dish.

The staff are all super nice too! We ordered buta-tama (pork okonomiyaki), ham and eggs, kimchi, and potato salad! The okonomiyaki was light and creamy, just the kind of taste I love! The ham and eggs were so good I wanted to put them on rice! It was a great meal!

When I thought of Osaka, I figured it had to be konamono (flour-based dishes), so I made a reservation before going. I really enjoyed the negiyaki (green onion pancake), okonomiyaki (savory pancake), and ikayaki (grilled squid) as well. I was glad it wasn't too noisy.

Tsuruhashi Fugetsu Dotonbori Ebisubashi Ten

Tsuruhashi Fugetsu Dotonbori Ebisubashi Ten is an okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) restaurant located right in front of the Dotonbori River in the Namba area, with many sister locations mainly across Osaka City.

Its lively location makes it easy to drop by casually. It is also loved by locals, and even first-time okonomiyaki diners can feel at ease here.

The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) uses very little binder and is cooked with plenty of cabbage and katsuobushi (bonito flakes), which is one of its defining features.

The surface has a nice crispy texture from the browning, while the inside is soft and lets you enjoy the sweetness of the cabbage. It also comes with a house-made sauce that has been passed down for more than 70 years since the restaurant first opened.

If you want something filling, the modern-yaki (okonomiyaki with noodles) is a great choice, made by grilling boiled noodles between layers of fluffy batter.

The great mix of batter and noodles comes together with the special sauce and mayonnaise for a top-notch finish. The most popular item is the “buta-tama modern.”

The okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) was cooked up light and fluffy, and the moment it hit my mouth, its toasty aroma and sweetness spread out, leaving me very satisfied. The generous amount of cabbage kept a nice crisp texture while blending perfectly with the savory taste of the pork. The balance of sauce and mayonnaise was also good, so I enjoyed it without getting tired of it until the last bite.

I asked a friend in Osaka and came to Fugetsu for okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake). It was 6 p.m. on a weekday, but quite a few seats were already occupied. We ordered the Fugetsu-yaki, beef tendon negi tsukimi-dama, and mochi cheese tonpeiyaki. The staff cook the okonomiyaki all the way through at your table. Everything we tried was delicious, and it really gave us a taste of Osaka.

They also use asari (manila clams) in the broth for the oden, giving it a deep seafood flavor. You can order A la carte, and they also have assortment menus.

小豆婆

Okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake), yakisoba (stir-fried noodles), oden (Japanese stew), kushi (skewers)… I thought it might be the kind of place aimed at tourists, more about quantity than quality⁈ but it proved me wrong! The fillings were chunky and generous, and everything I tried was delicious. If it were near my home, I’d probably be a regular! I’d love to come back again!

まきパパです

The interior decor (atmosphere) and the background music made it feel like stepping back into the Showa era (1926–1989), which gave the place a nice sense of nostalgia. I really liked the flavor of the okonomiyaki (savory pancake) batter, and thought it was very good. The oden (Japanese hot pot dishes) with asari (Manila clam) broth also had a rich clam flavor and tasted great. The staff were always moving and kept the place lively, which I thought was a nice touch.

The cabbage with meat miso (sweet and savory seasoned meat paste) had an appetite-boosting sweet and spicy flavor, and the pork tama okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake with pork and egg) was light, fragrant, and classic good. Each grilled chicken item had a different texture and rich taste, and the rare grilled sasami (chicken tenderloin) in particular was moist and tender. The aburi yukhoe (lightly seared seasoned raw meat) had an excellent balance of smoky aroma and rich flavor. The shiitake with salt and lemon was fresh and juicy, while the asparagus bacon mayo was fragrant and rich, making it a great dish to enjoy with drinks.

First, the niku miso (meat miso) on the cabbage appetizer they serve at the start was unbelievably good. It was the kind of thing that tells you right away this place is good. They offer not only downtown style Teppan-yaki dishes like pork okonomiyaki, negi-suji-yaki (green onion and beef tendon pancake), Pork and Cabbage Omelette, ebi-pan (shrimp toast), pork kimchi, and pan-fried gyoza, but also a wide range of tempting menu items such as Domestic kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black beef), grilled chicken, grilled vegetables, stir-fried liver and garlic chives, hotate butter-yaki (scallops grilled with butter), and dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled omelet).

Okonomiyaki Izakaya Gen

Okonomiyaki Izakaya Gen is an izakaya with a wide range of Teppan-yaki dishes, including okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), yakisoba (stir-fried noodles), and meat dishes. It seems the cheerful personality of the owner is part of the place’s appeal, not just the food.

The batter for the okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) is packed with yam and flavored well with dashi, and it is popular for its light, fluffy texture.

You can choose from five kinds of okonomiyaki, including meat and seafood options. The aroma of the sauce whets the appetite, and each one is hearty and very satisfying.

We had seafood okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake), tonpeiyaki (griddled pork omelet), and ikayaki (grilled squid pancake). They all had a nostalgic feel, the fillings were lavish, and every one of them was excellent. The portions are generous, so the okonomiyaki alone is enough to leave you Manpuku, and this is also a great value spot. For drinks, they have beer and chuhai (shochu highball) of course, as well as higher end options like Mao (premium shochu) and Hibiki (Japanese whisky), so I also recommend having a few snacks with your drinks.

ABENO HUB

ABENO HUB, about a 3-minute walk from Kintetsu-Namba Station, is a London-born restaurant where you can enjoy gluten-free okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) and yakisoba (fried noodles) made with organic ingredients.

The refined interior feels almost like a cafe, and it offers Semi-private room seating, table seating, and terrace seating.

They also recommend the unique okonomiyaki named after cities around the world. The photo shows the "Mexican," an okonomiyaki made with ingredients such as salsa sauce and ground beef.

Just like the okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake), the yakisoba (Japanese stir-fried noodles) menu is something you will want to order every time you visit. They use rice flour noodles made from Akitakomachi rice.

Because it is gluten-free, it has a light, clean mouthfeel, and the rich toppings are also part of the appeal. You can also enjoy "omu-soba".

・London-yaki
It comes with pork, bacon, salmon, and cheese. This is what London-yaki (savory griddle cake) is. The batter, made with 100% rice flour, is smooth and runny, and it includes finely shredded cabbage cooked until soft! The chunky, diced salmon really stands out. With the bacon sitting on top like pork belly, its rich fat soaks in. Even the sauce is gluten free!!
