・Grilled Hairy Crab
The butter-finished grilled crab had a Western-style flavor, which added a nice change of pace to the course and tasted great. They use aged kani miso (crab tomalley). Aging brings out a lot of umami and removes the off notes typical of kani miso.

・Hokkai Course
Starting with “kani-zukuri (fresh crab sashimi)” that is sweet and juicy, followed by rich and flavorful “kani miso (crab tomalley).” The “Crab hot pot” is enjoyed in a light yet deep suki dashi broth. It brings out the crab’s flavor to the fullest. So good❤️To finish, the “zosui (rice porridge)” that soaks up plenty of that flavor is also excellent.

The Hot Pot broth was tasty too, and I enjoyed it all the way to the final zosui (rice porridge). Next time, I think I’ll go to try the fugu (blowfish).

The All you can eat service was so carefully done that it did not feel like an all-you-can-eat meal, and the overall experience was highly satisfying. The hon-zuwai (snow crab) in particular had a clear sweetness, and the meat came away easily from the shell, making it easy to eat. It had the fresh aroma and juiciness of being just boiled, and it was so good that I could not help ordering more.

We had the Ni no Kani course. Kani-sashi (raw crab sashimi). It comes with 3 legs, served with ponzu sauce and soy sauce. The glossy kani-sashi is irresistible. Kani-chiri (crab Hot Pot). First, they put the middle part of the crab into the pot, then add the vegetables and tofu, followed by the crab. Once cooked, the crab has a more concentrated flavor, and I personally like it even more than raw crab.

We ordered a course and enjoyed everything from crab sashimi to grilled crab and Hot Pot, and we were really satisfied. This value for money is amazing!!Since live fugu (pufferfish) is the main attraction, even the fugu for the Hot Pot was still twitching, showing the peak of freshness♡The flesh was thick and satisfying to eat too. We enjoyed fugu Kara-age, fugu skin with ponzu sauce, and the Hot Pot.

あおきじ

The fugu (pufferfish) was prepared from one that had been alive just moments before, so it had an amazing springy texture, and it was so fresh that the flesh was still moving when it was served. Of course, the taste was excellent too. The kani (crab) was also good raw, but grilled was still the best—the meat tightened up nicely, had a great bouncy texture, and tasted delicious.

Fresh zuwaigani (snow crab) raised in the rich seas of Hokkaido is said to be appealing for its delicate sweetness and melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Tarabagani (red king crab) is known for its firm, springy texture and rich flavor, so you can enjoy the difference from zuwaigani. It is served boiled, which is a nice touch since you can eat it right away.

MAD_PSYCHOPASS

Personally, I like zuwaigani (snow crab) with its strong sweetness and umami! You can eat it nice and light with kani-zu (crab vinegar)!! ※Of course, I ended up getting another serving of zuwaigani. The sukiyaki is done in Kanto style, where they first simmer the vegetables in warishita sauce. As it starts bubbling away, that nice soy sauce aroma fills the air… The A5 Miyazaki beef comes in 4 cuts: Strip loin, loin, belly, and Brisket flat, all with beautifully marbled fat that really stands out✨

The main dish is kani-suki (crab Hot Pot). It is an amazingly luxurious Hot Pot that even comes with live awabi (abalone). The crab also comes in quite a generous volume, with legs, claws, and body meat. They say the crab is fresh enough to eat as sashimi, so I had part of the leg as sashimi. The broth in the Hot Pot is already seasoned, so once you add the ingredients and let them cook, you can eat it as is. It also comes with vegetables and tofu, so it feels healthy. I fully enjoyed this wonderfully luxurious Hot Pot with awabi and crab.

Next is the kani-nabe (crab Hot Pot), piled high with plenty of legs and meat and looking luxurious from the start. The broth is refined and does not get in the way of the crab’s flavor, and once cooked, the meat turns plump and sweet. I came because I wanted to eat crab! It also came with shabu-shabu, so I put the crab shells in to bring out the flavor in the broth, and finished with kani-zosui (crab rice porridge)✨The broth had a great flavor, and I enjoyed it a lot!

Fugu to Kani Taiko Fugu is a place where you can enjoy seafood dishes such as snow crab and Domestic Japanese pufferfish in a fully private room filled with the warmth of Japanese style.

It is a 4-minute walk from Hanazonocho Station on the Osaka Metro. The Private rooms can accommodate a wide range of group sizes, from small parties to groups of more than 30 people, so it seems easy to use for many different occasions.

The torafugu (Japanese pufferfish) & zuwai-gani (snow crab) course, which includes both pufferfish and crab, is also popular.

・Japanese pufferfish snow crab Manzoku course
This surprising course has an off-the-charts level of satisfaction. I recommend it for Japanese pufferfish lovers and crab lovers. The tetchiri (Japanese pufferfish hotpot) and grilled crab in the course, in particular, have plenty of volume and feel very satisfying. The snow crab is packed with meat, and there is a Special feeling to grilling it over charcoal right at the table. It is irresistible.

Fugu (blowfish) is delicious. I’m sure my skin will be nice and plump tomorrow♡ The ponzu sauce has just the right amount of tang too. The dashi shoyu (soy sauce with soup stock) for the rice porridge smells wonderfully brothy and really whets the appetite... Sigh... I ate well again today. It was delicious!

Kokyu Washoku Sapporo Miyagawa Umeda Ten, about a 2-minute walk from Higashi-Umeda Station, is a Japanese restaurant where you can enjoy seasonal Japanese cuisine, sushi kaiseki (traditional multi-course meal), and kani kaiseki (crab multi-course meal).

The restaurant seems to have fresh and calming Private rooms that let you feel the changing seasons. You can relax and enjoy your meal in a peaceful atmosphere. There is also counter seating.

The kaiseki course menus centered on seasonal ingredients are extensive, prepared by a chef who trained at some of Tokyo’s top famous restaurants.

The 7-course "Kani Kaiseki (crab kaiseki)" is a kaiseki course centered on a snow crab Hot Pot.

The crab comes in a generous portion, and the vegetables are satisfying as well. Some say the broth is so good they could drink it forever.

I used it for a business dinner. It had a Japanese style, and every room was a Private room. The calm atmosphere made it even better. The food had delicate flavors, and each dish was prepared to bring out the natural taste of the ingredients, so everything was very delicious! I would like to visit again.

・Crab Kaiseki Course [Jo]
Every dish was delicate and beautiful, truly “the art of Japanese cuisine.” The Appetizers included kani miso dofu (crab tomalley tofu). It was rich with plenty of crab flavor and very tasty! The sashimi was fresh crab and buri (yellowtail). The crab’s sweetness really stood out, and it melted in my mouth the moment I took a bite. The grilled crab was fragrant, with its flavor packed in. Grilled crab is one of my top 3 favorite crab dishes!

Places to Enjoy Crab in Osaka Prefecture [Outside Osaka City]

Fugu Kiyo Hanare

Fugukiyo Hanare is a Japanese restaurant located near Sakaihigashi Station in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture. Its Honten is also about a 4-minute walk away, but this branch offers limited menu items.

In addition to counter seating, it also has Sunken kotatsu seating and fully private rooms with table seating, making it easy to visit with anyone.

This location exclusively serves crab dishes, and you can choose from a wide variety of items such as kani miso (crab tomalley) and kani sashi (crab sashimi). You can order both A la carte and course meals.

One review said the kani sashi had a rich, melt-in-your-mouth sweetness and tasted so good it was moving.

The Japanese pufferfish dishes, made only with large Domestic live pufferfish, are also a must try. The freshly cut flesh is said to be so fresh it still moves.

Recommended options include the popular "yaki-fugu (grilled pufferfish)" from the Honten, as well as "fugu-sashi (pufferfish sashimi)," which pairs perfectly with "hirezake (hot sake with grilled pufferfish fin)." There is also a course you can enjoy together with crab.

The crab sashimi is sweet! We each got 3 large legs! I got to enjoy the luxury of filling my mouth with it! I was already more than Manzoku at this point! We also ordered grilled fugu (blowfish) soft roe on top of the course! It was seasoned with sauce. It was creamy, and the sauce was tasty too.

The interior is stylish and clean, and I was able to relax in the calm atmosphere. The course was filling, starting with yubiki (parboiled fish skin), followed by sashimi (raw fish slices), grilled dishes, Kara-age, and Hot Pot. Among them, the grilled fugu (pufferfish) cooked over a shichirin (charcoal brazier) lets you choose from four seasonings: salt, shio-koji (salted rice malt), moromi (unrefined fermented mash), and ponzu sauce, and this time I had it with shio-koji, which was excellent!

Kanitora

Kanitora is a specialty restaurant for live Japanese pufferfish dishes, located about a 3-minute walk from Fuse Station in Higashiosaka, Osaka Prefecture, and is popular for its exceptionally fresh live Japanese pufferfish and crab dishes.

The warm wood-filled Japanese modern interior is said to feel comfortable, and the restaurant is fully equipped with Private rooms and Semi-private rooms that are ideal for private Banquets.

This restaurant offers a wide variety of crab dishes that are perfect for crab lovers, and it also has set courses with fugu (pufferfish) dishes.

The fugu dishes use fugu (pufferfish) of outstanding freshness that swim in the fish tank inside the restaurant until just before preparation. They offer a lineup of courses where you can enjoy fugu in a luxurious way.

One of the most popular dishes is "tessa (fugu sashimi)." It is said to be a dish that lets you boldly enjoy translucent fugu sashimi with an excellent bite.

This time, we ordered the Kosui - koiki - <Fugu Crab Course>. It was a great course where we could enjoy both crab and Japanese pufferfish together. From the crab sashimi and Japanese pufferfish tessa (thin-sliced sashimi) to the tecchiri crab Hot Pot, everything was very good. It also came with crab and Japanese pufferfish sushi, so it was very filling. We finished with zosui (rice porridge) made with broth from the crab and Japanese pufferfish.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was calm and quiet, maybe because crab was the main focus. The staff were also polite and pleasant. We ordered a course with kani (crab) and fugu (pufferfish), and the tessa (thin-sliced fugu sashimi) was plump and very tasty. The fugu in the tetchiri (fugu hotpot) was still twitching, showing how incredibly fresh it was, and the flesh was firm and delicious.
