Not only was the food great, but the course structure, presentation, and hospitality were wonderful. Kyoto, Gion, and meat might sound intimidating, but this was a wonderful and very comfortable restaurant.

Daiwakenso

Aged meat changes in flavor depending on how far it has aged, and compared with fresh meat it has more bite, but it is delicious meat that releases more and more flavor the more you chew, and it is the kind of meat that stays in my memory and makes me want to eat it again.

Inside, the restaurant is a calm space that keeps the feel of a Kyo-machiya (traditional Kyoto townhouse), and the service is natural without being overly formal. I was able to enjoy a high quality time without feeling tense. The tasty meat, the perfect accompaniments, the atmosphere, and the service all felt so comfortable that I definitely want to go again.

We ordered the porterhouse steak for 4 people. It had the strongest sear I’ve ever had here, and it was exactly to my taste. The fat was on the lighter side, yet the meat was tender, so even if you eat a lot, it does not feel too heavy. It was a wonderful steak.

・Ise ebi (spiny lobster) and Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu) course
The Ise ebi was large and plump. For the steak, we chose Chateaubriand and filet✨Tender with just the right amount of fat♡The ingredients cooked right in front of us on the Teppan-yaki were simply gorgeous, and every dish was excellent, making it a very happy time️.

The steak sauce has egg in it, and it tastes great〜. Even so, the steak itself is so good and easy to enjoy that you can eat it with almost just salt. The balance of steak, rice, vegetables, and more is excellent.

・Kyoto’s best pancake & steak mini plate set
Even though I thought I might not be able to finish the pancakes, the batter had cream cheese in it and was so soft and fluffy that I ended up eating them easily. It was also nice that the sweet and tangy berry sauce went well with the pancakes.

・Yasaka Course
The main meat wasn’t soft from fatty marbling, but tender from the quality of the meat itself, and I had it with garlic soy sauce, Himalayan rock salt, porcini salt, and wasabi. I was already about 90% full before even getting to the meat, so I ordered plain white rice to keep it light. It was great with the pickles and miso soup on the side.
