The "Meibutsu Sauce Katsu Rice bowl" is said to have a crisp and fragrant coating, and the rich sweet-savory sauce goes very well with the rice.
The cutlet is thick-cut yet has a nice bite, and people say the amount of rich, sweet fat is just right and very tasty.

The basashi (horse sashimi) was fresh, with no strong distinctive flavor, and had a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Paired with local Japanese sake, it let us enjoy the character of Aizu even more.

ヤッピ飯
After trying several kinds of Japanese sake from Kitakata, the one I liked best was a drink called "Yaemon" that one of the staff recommended. I thought it was a complex yet easy to drink Japanese sake, with a nice balance of fruitiness, richness, and freshness (just my personal opinion).

The local specialty asparagus was delicious, and the meat sushi melted in my mouth. The fu dengaku (grilled wheat gluten with miso) was super chewy. The dashimaki (Japanese rolled omelet) was soft and jiggly, and so good. Everything paired well with the local sake too, which was impressive.

The horse meat in the sakura-nabe (horse meat Hot Pot) was not fatty like beef and not tough either, so I could really enjoy the good taste of the horse meat. The fun staff, maybe one of the place's specialties, also kept the mood lively, so I honestly had a great time.

What I got hooked on was mehikari (greeneyes) ichiya-boshi (overnight dried fish). I ordered the Kara-age first and it was so good that when I added one more dish, I chose the ichiya-boshi.
