Oshika Hanto (Oshika Peninsula) Sendai Ekimae Ten is a seafood izakaya (Japanese pub) on the 8th floor of a building, just a 1-minute walk from the west exit of Sendai Station. They have a wide selection of local sake from Tohoku, and it is popular as a great match with the food.

You can enjoy local flavors, including seasonal ingredients from the area, Miyagi (Miyagi) and Sanriku (Sanriku), as well as specialties such as Beef Tongue.
A top favorite is the ozukuri (sashimi platter), which lets you fully enjoy seasonal seafood from Sanriku. It is said to be a carefully prepared dish that really shows off the freshness of the ingredients.
Photograph:食べ歩き 松さん
The must-try menu also includes "genshi-yaki (traditional primitive-style grilling)," an old-style cooking method that seals in the natural flavors of the ingredients as they cook.
It is said to be known for a crispy, fragrant outside and a tender finish inside, letting you enjoy the flavor unique to grilled fish and the aroma of charcoal fire.
Haru7429
With its convenient location and easy access from Sendai Station, you can enjoy lots of Miyagi food here! The selection of Japanese sake labels was also extensive, mainly from Tohoku, and they were excellent. I also liked the slightly dim, romantic atmosphere, and if you sit at the counter, you can enjoy your meal while watching the robatayaki (fireside grilling) right in front of you.

らだいと
It was my first time trying seri-nabe (Japanese parsley Hot Pot), and the rich broth of the Hot Pot matched really well with the slight bitterness of the seri, so it was delicious! I was also happy that this restaurant's version came with duck meat. I ordered a few things and none of them missed the mark, but I especially recommend kinkasaba (mackerel from the Kinka region) and miso rice balls.

They also offer a wide selection of local sake that pairs perfectly with the food, and the All you can drink plan may even include well-known Tohoku labels such as Juyondai and Denshu, making it a dream lineup for fans of Japanese sake.

One of the most popular dishes is said to be the Kinka aburi shime-saba (seared vinegared mackerel). Made with Kinka saba (Kinka brand mackerel), a branded fish from Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, it is a dish known for its rich fat and bold umami.
Searing adds a nice toasted aroma, and it is said to pair perfectly with local sake.
Colorings
Just like the name suggests, the restaurant offers a wide range of dishes that make the most of local ingredients, and everything felt carefully prepared. The dish that stood out most this time was the seri-nabe (Japanese parsley Hot Pot). It came with plenty of parsley all the way down to the roots, and the strong aroma and crisp texture were irresistible! The broth was soy sauce based but full of deep umami, with a gentle quality that made it easy to enjoy even after drinking, so I never got tired of it all the way to the end.

The kinka-saba (mackerel from Kinkasan) sashimi was listed as one of the day's specials, with a note saying it had a 15-minute best tasting window. It was served to the table, and we ate it right away. At first glance it looked fairly ordinary, but once it hit my mouth, it tasted fresh with no off notes, and it was so good that I felt it ranked among the best mackerel sashimi I’ve ever had.

ココトア
The course meal and portions were just right, and it was great that I could finish everything as snacks to go with the drinks! The chestnut kamameshi (iron pot rice) at the end was especially satisfying, and getting to try the season’s first chestnuts left me fully Manzoku! The grilled jidori (free-range chicken) thigh and the sashimi, including Higashimono tuna, were packed with good flavors, and the drinks kept flowing.

Most importantly, every dish was top level and flawless in quality. The sashimi was not simply about freshness; I think each fish was aged so it would taste its best. Also, the kaki no kamameshi (oyster rice cooked in a pot) was amazing. Without a doubt, it was the best kamameshi of my life.

Looking at the photos, I could tell it was a yakitori restaurant, but I was curious about the wide selection of à la carte dishes, so we ordered both yakitori and a few side dishes. I put garlic on the katsuo (bonito), added a little salt, and with one bite, I got the nice aroma of straw grilling, and it was really delicious. It was a Large size, but it was so good I could eat it all by myself (^・^) This time, there were 6 slices. Don’t underestimate it just because it’s cheap, it’s really delicious. The Kaku stands up nicely, and the grilling is spot on. Best of all, each piece of liver is nice and large. You can choose tare sauce or salt for the tsukune (chicken meatball skewer). Both go perfectly with drinks.

The standard choice is “Beef Tongue shabu-shabu.” This dish lets you swish thinly sliced Beef Tongue through the dashi (Japanese soup stock) and enjoy it, and you can also have fun changing up the flavor with dipping sauce, tsukune (chicken meatballs), and wataame (cotton candy).

Among the highlights is the popular Beef Tongue shabu-shabu, served in a rich collagen-filled broth, with vegetables and Beef Tongue beautifully arranged in a donut-shaped pot that really catches the eye.
People say you can enjoy it with house-made ponzu sauce for a refreshing taste and a light finish, and reviews praise it as well.
かなこ43
The Beef Tongue shabu-shabu was thinly sliced, yet still properly tender and sweet, and it was my first time trying it after adding a giant wad of cotton candy to the Hot Pot broth, which was GOOD! I could easily have ordered extra Beef Tongue shabu-shabu♪♪ To finish, they also have noodles, so go all in and give them a try!

The aburi shime-saba (seared cured mackerel) was rich with fat, nicely seasoned, and went well with Japanese sake. I ordered the fresh oysters with ponzu sauce, and they were large, plump and jiggly, with a Fresh Scent of the Ocean, making them delicious as well. The grilled shrimp and scallops with miso and cheese had an outstanding sauce. You could also taste the nice roasted aroma of the shrimp, and it was the best dish of the day.

The otoshi (small appetizer) was kabocha dofu (pumpkin tofu)? Or kabocha purin (pumpkin pudding)? I forget which, but it was incredibly good. The top pick this time was agedashi dofu (deep-fried tofu in broth) with mushroom ankake (thick starchy sauce). Anyway, this is a place where the dashi broth is just excellent, so you really can’t go wrong, but the mushroom ankake, together with the rich flavor of the mushrooms, made it the best dish.

One of the most popular items is the "Tenshi no Ebi Kushi" grilled over the robata (fireside grill). You can eat it shell and all, and it is said to be outstanding, with just the right amount of salt, plump flesh, and the rich savory taste of the tomalley.

The first Surprising thing is that the otoshi (small appetizer) comes with All you can eat oden!! I also love that it is self service, so you can go get what you like from the counter whenever you want. There is a wide variety, including daikon radish, shirataki (konjac noodles), eggs, konnyaku (yam cake), atsuage (deep-fried tofu),, satsumaage (fried fish cake), and shumai, and every piece of oden tastes authentic with the dashi broth soaked all the way in. My personal favorites were the octopus leg and the shumai. These alone make the drinks go down so well…!

・Koro potato salad
This potato salad looks super cute! A boiled egg sits neatly on top of the potato salad, and it makes you want to take a photo right away. The taste is creamy and rich, with a great balance between the fluffy texture of the potatoes and the mildness of the boiled egg. It feels simple but carefully made, and it went really well with every dish.

0-Byo Lemon Sour Sendai Horumon Yakiniku Sakaba Tokiwatei Sendai Ekimae Ten is a restaurant just steps from Aoba-dori Station where you can enjoy Horumon and Yakiniku.
Every table comes with its own sour tower, so you can pour a drink whenever you like. They also offer a wide range of syrups and frozen fruits, so you can make your own original sour just the way you like it.
Photograph:てっぷさん
The signature dish is “Sendai Shio Horumon.” It mixes Domestic pork small intestine, large intestine, and gatsu (pig stomach) in a good balance, so the more you eat, the more you can enjoy the differences in flavor.
The Horumon is marinated in a secret salt sauce, and it stays tender even when grilled, making it a dish where you can really enjoy its chewy texture.
Photograph:yzou3525
The photo shows "grilled beef tendon." It has a firm bite, and the more you chew, the more flavor comes through.
People say the nice texture is addictive and goes great with drinks, making it a popular menu item with many repeat customers.

We chose the 90-minute All you can eat and drink menu with Horumon, oden (Japanese stew), and lemon sour. We enjoyed plenty from the wide lineup, including Colon, marucho (small intestine), and Outside skirt. The winter-only oden also had all the staples like egg, daikon radish, and shirataki (konjac noodles), making this a restaurant with a good range of options.

The tendon might have been the best thing at this place. I had it with sesame oil and salt. I should have ordered it from the start. Of course, the Horumon and the sours are also cheap and good. Still, next time I’m ordering the tendon right from the start! Thanks for the meal.

Recommended izakaya around Kotodai-Koen Station in Miyagi Prefecture

Oden Sankichi is a long-established oden (Japanese hot pot with simmered items) restaurant founded in 1949. The friendly staff create a warm, homey atmosphere, and it is said to be popular with a wide range of diners, from solo guests to families.
The restaurant is located on Inari Koji, a 3-minute walk from Kotodai Koen Station.
Photograph:takes138
The specialty here is oden enjoyed in a broth made from grilled dried iwashi (sardines) from Mutsu Bay in Aomori and kombu kelp. It has a light, clean taste that brings out the flavor of the ingredients.
The classic item, in particular, is the daikon radish simmered for 10 hours. The daikon radish is full of flavor and has a meltingly tender texture that makes it hard to stop eating.
Photograph:Yonah
Besides oden, they also offer a full lineup of standard izakaya dishes, including local specialties from Miyagi and the Tohoku region.
To finish, the recommended dish is Miyagi's local specialty, abura-fu Rice bowl. This dish lets you enjoy the gentle flavor of soft abura-fu and creamy egg mixed together.
ヘベレケゆうちょ
Locals say that when it comes to oden in Sendai, Sankichi is the place. You do not often get to fully enjoy oden when eating out, but it is nice once in a while. The nira-tamago (garlic chive and egg) was especially good. It was All you can drink, and it was tasty to add oden broth to Japanese sake and drink it.

ボンゴレデーチモ
The soup comes in a generous amount, with lots of different ingredients, and a really nice touch is that everything is cut in half. The broth is very clear, but you can really taste the dashi (Japanese soup stock), and the ingredients hold their shape, making it very satisfying to eat!! It was my first time having oden (Japanese hot pot with assorted ingredients in broth) this delicious

Tori Sumibi Jizake Matsumoto is an izakaya where you can enjoy yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and jizake (local sake), located a 2-minute walk from Kotodai-Koen Station. Jazz music plays inside the restaurant, which has a Japanese-modern feel and a calm atmosphere.
From the window seats, you can look out over the city streets, making it a great choice when you want to enjoy a quiet meal.
Photograph:秋作号
They use only Domestic branded chickens for the yakitori, including Junwadori, Date-dori, and Hinai-jidori. Skilled grill masters carefully cook each skewer to lock in the juices and flavor.
Among them, the sasami (chicken tenderloin) stands out for its plump and tender texture, and it also pairs perfectly with the ume (pickled plum) and yuzu kosho (yuzu chili paste) served on the side.
Photograph:maimu0118
The photo shows the Sumibi Kaoru Hinai Jidori Oyako Rice bowl. The charcoal-grilled Hinai jidori (premium Akita chicken) has a nice smoky aroma, and the soft-cooked egg melts into it.
It is also perfect To finish a meal, and it is a popular menu item with many fans who say they enjoy it to the last bite without getting tired of it.

The meat is tender, juicy, and delicious, and the kamo (duck) also comes out wrapped in smoky smoke, which goes great with drinks. The final small oyako-don (chicken and egg rice bowl) is also delicious! You can choose curry instead, but I always end up picking the oyako-don.
Source:db3b39's review
Matsumoto's sauce is incredibly good, and once you try the kashiwa (chicken), it's sure to become one unforgettable skewer! The restaurant is casual but refined, and part of the charm is being able to see the master grilling with real focus even from the table.

Koujiya Nitarou Honten is an izakaya located on the second floor of a building along Kokubuncho-dori, an 8-minute walk from Kotodai-Koen Station. They offer Miyagi specialty dishes and local Tohoku sake.
The interior has Private rooms for all seats, and you can enjoy your meal at a relaxed pace in a calm, private space with a modern Japanese feel.
Photograph:no-09789
The specialty is the "koji-zuke gyutan sumibiyaki (charcoal-grilled beef tongue marinated in koji)," made with koji sourced from Sendai's only koji brewery. It is said to have more umami thanks to the power of koji, and is popular for being delicious with a tender texture despite its thick cut.
You can choose from two flavors, shio-koji (salt koji) and miso-koji (miso koji), and its gentle koji-based flavor is said to make it a popular dish even among health-conscious diners.
Photograph:25557e
The sashimi assortment, which lets you enjoy fresh seafood from Miyagi (a prefecture in northeastern Japan) and other parts of Tohoku (northeastern Japan), is also popular.
Because it uses fish in season, the contents change daily, and one of its features is enjoying it with shoyu koji (soy sauce koji) instead of soy sauce. It seems to bring out the fish's freshness even more.

The tempura and sashimi of tara (cod) soft roe were outstanding! The freshly fried soft roe tempura had a melt-in-your-mouth texture, and the fragrant crispness was irresistible. The sashimi was fresh too, and every bite felt like pure happiness. And the shiro reba (white liver) that I order every time was just as great as ever! Its rich flavor keeps you coming back for more.

We ordered a few snacks such as sashimi (sliced raw fish) and Beef Tongue. Surprisingly, the French fries were really good too, fried crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. To finish, we ordered what seemed to be their signature item⁈uni onigiri (sea urchin rice ball), called unigiri. It had sweet and savory seasoned ground meat inside, with uni on the outside! Yes, it was quite tasty

Sanriku Kaisen Akari Kokubuncho Ten is a sushi izakaya where you can enjoy fresh fish from Sanriku, with a focus on seafood caught in the area. It is known as a place where you can casually enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine in a stately space accented by wood from a renovated kominka (traditional Japanese house).
The restaurant is on the second floor of a building on Inari Koji, a 3-minute walk from Kotodai Koen Station.
Photograph:ぐぐもぐ
The restaurant sources seasonal fish from around Japan, centered on exceptionally fresh seafood from Sanriku, with catches from the coastal waters off Sendai, Hokkaido, and the Sea of Japan side as well.
Every seafood dish prepared by the head chef, who honed his skills at well known Japanese restaurants, is carefully finished. Above all, the sashimi assortment featuring fish caught that very morning is said to be a must try.
Photograph:nabelog510
The sushi uses fresh toppings and carefully prepared red vinegared rice made with rice from Miyagi Prefecture. You can order it one piece at a time, and it is said to be perfect both as a snack to go with drinks and To finish.
Along with classic nigiri, another draw is the colorful ate-maki (rolls made to pair with drinks).
nabelog510
The first thing served was the "oden 7-item assortment." It came with a classic lineup of shirataki (konjac noodles), egg, daikon radish, mochi-kinchaku (tofu pouch with rice cake), chikuwa (tube-shaped fish cake), satsuma-age (fried fish cake), and nerimono (processed fish cake). The broth had soaked in with a gentle flavor, and the daikon radish in particular was so tender it split apart the moment chopsticks touched it. The melty texture of the mochi-kinchaku is addictive too.

"10-piece Nigiri Omakase." It had a lot of popular toppings, and everything was fresh and delicious! Since there were 10 kinds, we picked the sushi we wanted to eat with rock-paper-scissors. (lol) The ebi (shrimp) and akagai (ark shell clam) were great. We also had the "Honmaguro Kamatro Nigiri" from the day's recommendations. The rich fatty tuna just melted in the mouth. It disappeared in no time.

The restaurant also offers dishes made with Special ingredients from Hokkaido and Tohoku. One of the most popular options is the 60-minute All you can eat crab plan.
Reviews say you can enjoy as much crab as you want, and many people leave feeling Manzoku.

Wanting to eat crab again for the first time in a while, I made a reservation about a week in advance and, as always, booked a window seat. The night view is great, the crab is great, and when you think about the cost performance, this is the best.

I came back because I wanted to eat the Horumon miso Hot Pot I had last time. I added rice at the end and ate it that way. Before that, I also had basashi (horse sashimi), hokke (Atka mackerel) zangi (Hokkaido-style fried chicken), and croquettes. The basashi was good too♡The croquettes had a crispy coating and a creamy inside, so much so that I thought they were cream croquettes. It was also nice that they had a wide variety of drinks.
