Okachimachi, a convenient area between Akihabara and Ueno, is a popular and lively neighborhood. While it is packed with commercial facilities and office buildings, it also has bustling shopping streets like Ameyoko, giving the area lots of energy. This article rounds up recommended places around Okachimachi Station for when you want to eat Yakiniku.

Kisui

Namaiki is a Yakiniku restaurant where skilled staff grill high quality meat right in front of you, and it opened in Okachimachi as a sister restaurant of Yoroniku, a popular spot in Minami-Aoyama.

The interior has a calm atmosphere, and the service from the staff is pleasant as well. It seems like a great place when you want to entertain guests.

The Yakiniku, cooked to the perfect doneness for each type and cut of meat, is said to be excellent across the board.

The photo shows the “Tan Kombu,” which some reviews describe as “surprisingly delicious.” The umami of the salted kombu kelp pairs perfectly with the Beef Tongue, according to diners.

Served at the end of the course is kakigori (shaved ice), which is perfect when you want to freshen up your palate.

There are many varieties, including shirokuma (milk shaved ice with fruit and sweet toppings) and basil lemon, but the hojicha (roasted green tea) in the photo seems to be the most popular.

たけのこたべすぎ

It is not a cheap Yakiniku place, but the taste, atmosphere, and service are all good, so I often visit for celebrations. The meat has textures you cannot find at other Yakiniku restaurants, and the cuts served raw are especially delicious. The somen and the shaved ice dessert are also really good.

TOKYO Yakiniku Goo Hanare

TOKYO Yakiniku Goo Hanare is a Yakiniku restaurant tucked into a corner of Okachimachi’s old downtown area, where the Special sourced Wagyu is excellent, and the Horumon in particular has a great reputation.

The interior has a warm and cozy feel, making it a comfortable place to relax. It is a good pick when you want to have a fun meal with friends.

The restaurant’s popular menu item, "Goo no Sekiheki -Red Cliff-," is a dish with a huge visual impact.

With every bite, the rich flavor of the meat fills your mouth, and the butter garlic sauce is so good it goes perfectly with rice.

The "Today’s Horumon assortment" is popular for letting you enjoy three kinds of Horumon with different textures all at once. The photo shows three kinds: Colon, Heart, and yan (part of the stomach).

The Colon is plump and springy, while the Heart has a clean bite and a fresh taste. It also makes a great snack to go with drinks.

A night stolen away by the stunning "Red Cliff." This signature dish is as moist as roast beef, with rich flavor spreading through every bite, and paired with the restaurant's original garlic-forward sauce, the combination is almost unfair✨

・Goo Course
The lineup includes items like aburi reba (seared liver) and Wagyu, so you can enjoy the course from start to finish without getting bored, and the overall level of Manzoku is high. I think it’s perfect for days when you want to feel full with hearty thick cuts or when you want casual reward-style Yakiniku.

Ueno Taishoen Ueno Honten

Ueno Taishoen Ueno Honten is a Yakiniku restaurant with a long history of more than 60 years, where you can enjoy excellent meat along with a wide variety of Korean dishes.

The interior is said to be a calm and luxurious space with a relaxed feel. It’s a place you’ll want to visit for birthdays and other special occasions.

The "Chateaubriand" has a steak-like thickness and a luxurious feel. It has rich marbling, but the fat is so high quality that it does not feel heavy at all.

It is said to be so tender that it melts in your mouth in an instant.

The "Negi-Tsutsumi Tan Shio" is a cute dish that looks like a gift wrapped with a ribbon.

Unlike regular negi-tan, the green onions do not spill out even when grilled, so the rich flavor of the tongue and the aroma of the green onions mix together in your mouth, making it easy to eat.

YKI0902

The interior blends calm lighting with the warmth of wood, creating a refined space where even families can relax and take their time. I tried a variety of dishes, but the negi-tsutsumi tanshio (salted beef tongue wrapped with green onion) was especially memorable. It was a little tricky to grill, but I could really taste how well the beef tongue and green onion went together and how much umami they had! Everything was delicious!

The kalbi has a nicely balanced sweetness from the fat and a melt-in-your-mouth richness. The sauce is refined too, and it brings out the flavor of the meat. The staff are polite, and it leaves a good impression that they check in on things like how the meat is cooking. It is also easy to stop by after sightseeing or shopping, and it is a good pick when you want to enjoy tasty Yakiniku in Ueno with peace of mind.

The photo shows the "Takumi assortment," a set that includes rare cuts of Wagyu. Even if you are not used to these cuts, it is easy to give them a try when you can taste a little of each.

What is served as the otoshi (small appetizer) with the course is a stylish dish of house-made tongue corned beef on a baguette.

The generously topped corned beef has a refined flavor, making you feel as if you have come to a French restaurant.

The three thick cut brothers: tongue, Outside skirt, and Tenderloin! The staff carefully grills the meat for you ♡ Each cut is really big and very satisfying to eat. They are not just large, the quality of the meat is also great and very tasty. The tongue is plump and springy. The Outside skirt is juicy, with meat juices overflowing. The Tenderloin has the rich flavor of the meat packed into it ♡ This is a dish with both taste and portion size that brings total Manzoku.

What left the biggest impression was the restaurant's specialty, the "Atsui 3 Kyodai (Thick Three Brothers)." I was surprised by how thick the meat was, but the staff grilled it carefully for us. I was impressed by how tender and juicy it tasted. The more I chewed, the more flavor came out. The kalbi (short rib) and Outside skirt were also excellent, each with a rich meaty flavor and a great balance with the sauce. I had a great time enjoying them with my group.

Wagyu Yakiniku Panga Ueno Ten

Wagyu Yakiniku Panga Ueno Ten is a Yakiniku restaurant near Okachimachi Station that is well known for letting diners enjoy high quality Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black beef).

The traditional Korean hanok-style interior creates a calm, modern space where guests can relax and enjoy their meal.

The set menu comes with salad, soup, rice, and more, so it feels like a good deal.

The photo shows the "Premium Single Set." It lets you compare four kinds of rare cuts, so it is also recommended for people who are not sure which cut to choose.

The "Strip loin yaki-suki with truffle mousse" is a luxurious dish that pairs melt-in-your-mouth Strip loin with truffle.

When you dip it in egg yolk, it brings out the mellow richness of the meat’s fat, making it exceptionally good.

・Premium Pair Set
The mini steak that comes with the pair set is grilled by the staff, then cut and served on sushi geta (wooden sushi serving board). The yaki-shabu (lightly grilled thin-sliced beef) is also carefully served by the staff, and I enjoyed how it melted in my mouth.

あんよ♪

・Premium Pair Set
You can enjoy it with whatever seasoning you like, whether grilling it with momi-dare (marinating sauce), grilling it as is and eating it with salt, or trying other flavors. Personally, I think Strip loin goes best with wasabi, haneshita (a shoulder cut) with tare sauce, Chuck Eye Roll with salt, and Sirloin cap with miso sauce.
