I stopped by just to kill a little time, but both the atmosphere and the food were great. The shop’s signature croissant came filled with cream, and the crisp, light pastry paired perfectly with the smooth cream. The pistachio ice cream was also very good, with the nutty toasted flavor unique to pistachios and a gentle sweetness.

Even in Arashiyama, Kyoto, this afternoon tea is less about tea sweets and more about proper food with tea. After sencha (Japanese green tea), I had herbal tea, then matcha (powdered green tea), and finished with a cappuccino. Photograph:サイケン8700
Itoh Kyuemon JR Uji Ekimae Ten is a Japanese cafe just a 1-minute walk from Uji Station on the JR Nara Line.
There are sofa seats, table seats, and Semi-private room seating separated by latticework. You can enjoy a menu filled with matcha while looking out through the windows at an elegant Japanese garden.

The "Special Itohkyuemon Parfait" is a dessert packed with carefully selected ingredients such as Tanba-produced kuromame (black soybeans) and matcha ice cream.
The tsubuan (chunky sweet red bean paste) is made with large dainagon azuki beans, and is said to have a smooth texture with mild sweetness.

The "matcha anmitsu (Japanese sweet with agar jelly and toppings)" is a Japanese dessert made with two kinds of chestnuts, dainagon azuki (large red beans), and matcha flavored kanten (agar jelly), among other ingredients.
Pour on plenty of matcha syrup for a rich, full flavor. It is said to let you enjoy the refined bitterness unique to matcha.

When it comes to Uji (Kyoto's famous matcha region), this is the place! You can fully enjoy matcha (powdered green tea). The roll cake had a really great matcha flavor. I want to go again.

I had the matcha parfait, and it was delicious. There was also a garden, and they served me hojicha (roasted green tea), so I had a relaxing time.

This Japanese cafe is a 10-minute walk from Ogura Station on the JR Nara Line. It is run by Morihan, a historic chaya (tea house) in Uji, Kyoto.
The interior, renovated from a kura (traditional storehouse) more than 100 years old, is said to have a classic old-time feel.

They offer a wide range of Homemade sweets and drinks made with fresh matcha (powdered green tea).
The "Koi Uji Matcha (rich Uji matcha) Retro Pudding ~With Ice Cream~" is a sweet supervised by a matcha patissier, and it is served with a rich matcha sauce.

The "matcha mont blanc" is a sweet made with Domestic chestnuts and two kinds of Uji matcha (green tea from Uji). One of its nice points is that they pipe the house-made paste right in front of you.
Inside, it has hidden meringue, which is said to add a light crunchy texture as an accent.
From the entrance to the interior, this cafe had a very nice atmosphere and was a calm place to spend time. There was also a space where we could wait before our reservation time, which was helpful. The matcha Mont Blanc was rich, not too sweet, and very delicious!

・Three-scoop ice cream assortment
This time, I compared different matcha ice creams! Every one of them was so rich and refined, on a whole different level from the matcha ice cream you get elsewhere!

Wamucha Cafe is a renovated kominka (traditional Japanese house) cafe located on Byodoin Omotesando, about a 5-minute walk from Uji Station on the JR Nara Line.
In a space that still keeps the retro feel of its early days, you can enjoy dishes and sweets served on Japanese tableware.

Authentic Chinese cuisine made with Uji matcha (green tea from Uji) and local vegetables is popular here.
The "Uji Matcha Mapo Tofu" is a dish made with two kinds of tofu: matcha goma-dofu (sesame tofu with matcha) and silken tofu. It is said to offer rich savory flavor and a pleasantly numbing heat.

The “Chakotsubo Matcha Pancakes” are served with shiratama (glutinous rice dumplings), anko (sweet red bean paste), and matcha ice cream.
The mini-sized chakotsubo (tea caddy) contains a special matcha milk cream, which you can pour over the pancakes and enjoy as you like.

Since Uji is known for tea, we stopped by a cafe. The lineup was surprisingly extensive for a cafe, with items like chahan (fried rice) made with tea leaves.

・Uji cha meshi (Uji tea fried rice)
It is stir-fried with salted Uji chaba (Uji tea leaves), giving it a nice aroma and a good level of saltiness. The dim sum and soup served on the side were also tasty. I’m curious about the other menu items too. The atmosphere inside feels calm, and it’s also fun to take a look at the attached zakka-ya (general goods shop).
