・iwa-gaki (rock oyster)
Everything was delicious! The charcoal grilled shellfish was especially good. The iwa-gaki was also absolutely delicious! The rice dishes are generous in portion size, which is great. Even people who do not drink alcohol can fully enjoy the food here thanks to both the taste and the generous portions.

・Hamo (pike conger) yubiki (parboiled sashimi)・Anji tokusei aburi saba-zushi (Anji special seared mackerel sushi)
They also have a wide selection of Japanese sake that pairs well with the food, so if you tell them your preferences in taste or region, they will recommend something for you. Speaking of summer seasonal specialties in Kyoto, hamo is the classic choice. On this day, I had it as yubiki. To finish, it has to be Anji tokusei aburi saba-zushi. When they quickly sear it with a burner right in front of you, the toasty aroma is irresistible.

When you pass through the noren (traditional shop curtain), there’s a narrow alley. At the end, you’ll find a lovely restaurant in a renovated kyo-machiya (Kyoto townhouse). I was shown to the counter, and right in front of me was a full lineup of delicious-looking oden (Japanese hot pot items). Of course I wanted to order some... Even the otoshi (small appetizer) was a Manzoku dish, and everything I ordered came served on carefully chosen tableware. They also have a wide selection of Japanese sake.

And above all, the Horumon Teppan-yaki! This is one dish you definitely have to order. The Horumon, grilled until fragrant on a piping hot iron plate, had a nice springy texture and rich flavor.
